Appreciate the love and very nice overview. :) Very nice cab btw! I had one made from Arcade Guys as well and they're great / responsive but yeah, the image needed an update (agreed there).
Mine is a little over a year old and apparently they now use the pi400 and a totally new image. I will try using what they sent me a link for once I swap out the PC, but will def check out Wolfanoz! THX!
Got my 400 installed and my image loaded on my card. Just need to figure out how to manage these USB connections. Excited to fire it up this afternoon and have a look! :)
This was such a wonderful video to watch.....thank u so very much! I am on the fence between buying a cabinet from Arcade Guys or Quality Arcades.....would you happen to have any insight or advice on this?!
Both are pretty much the same so price and style are probably going to be the only major difference. After shipping the prices are almost identical for a 32" 4-player model. Performance will be the same too. So pick whichever you like the look of more, though if you will normally play more than 2 players I would look at the larger cabinets the Arcade Guys offer.
@@LohTec was probably going yo get just a 2 player with a trackball....each company seems to tell me they r the best.....I just want the one that is most user friendly with the beat bang for the buck
@@jddownes1 They don't make the trackballs/controls/etc so more than likely those will be the same. I recommend switching the image for Arcade Guys and probably would for Quality too.
Any tips or video links to help with remapping buttons once the Wolfanez image is put into the PI? Image loads great, but need to be able to push start to change controls. Initial button set up does not have start or select available so can't change controls, nor can you start many games once loaded. Thanks for the video, download and install worked great.
Huh, interesting. The easiest thing would be plugging in a keyboard so you can access the remapping menu. I didn't need to, but perhaps your setup is slightly different
I'm afraid I just don't know enough about it to remap buttons, configure audio, etc. I can get it running, but can't figure any of the controls or mapping out and the audio isn't working. I am just going to have to go back to the updated Arcade Guys image.
Im looking for primarily arcade games and light gun shooters from the arcade. Can you recommend an image from somewhere that has that as the main focus?
I would also add that while the original arcade games tend to work perfectly, a lot of the included "non-arcade" console games, especially the ones made for consoles past the 1990's, were never designed for an arcade joystick/button set up, and just don't work well, if at all. Thankfully, there are options to hook up game controllers, provided you have or wish to purchase them.
I have an Arcade Guys ordered and will most likely do a new image. I have a 512gb Micro SD. Do you think the 512gb Total Recall Recalbox Image would be good? Wolfanoz does that one as well.
I haven't tried it myself so can't say for sure but more than likely yes. It may require a keyboard to get setup the first time which is why I liked the image I picked, but anything will work if you are ok with setup.
Great video! My TAG cabinet came with a Pi400. I notice that on the Arcade Punks site, the readme states that it is made for 4b but should still work on 400. Mine will boot the image and temporarily show the Batocera screen but after a split second, it shuts down the entire Pi. Do you know if that means the hardware is not compatible with that image or if there is a way to further troubleshoot?
they should run the same software. I would try to redownload and reflash the image or maybe try a different image. Only thing would be is the image is made for 8GB of RAM and the 400 only has 4GB.
Is it not possible to have an ini file or something with the layout for buttons and such (like with MAME) so you don't have to go in and configure every game on your new arcade?
@@LohTec Do you have an ini file we could download so we can drop and overwrite the one on our cards? I don't have a machine yet but will be looking to get one hopefully soon and want to prepare.
I don't. Potentially wouldn't help you if they plugged in your controllers in a different order than what I did. And it would come with a different image than what I have.
I’m wondering if people recommend arcade guys and quality arcades to have a different image, why wouldn’t those companies differentiate themselves and sell it configured that way?
@@LohTec It might, but most of these companies' "pad" their numbers a bit, for instance my machine has literally over 50 rom images of Pac-Man, basically they include every version that was ever released for every system. Now multiply that by every popular arcade game that was released on multiple systems over the years and it's pretty easy to get several thousand games (when you really just have multiple versions of maybe 100). Not that it's an issue, whether the true number is 5,000 or 17,000 odds are very few gamers will ever play more than a couple hundred in their lives.
Hi there. I just got a 4 player arcade cabinet from Quality Arcades. I bought a 256g mini sd and flashed this over. The button configuration is all messed up. I tried remapping within Batocera but they wouldn't stick. How do I permanently remap keys for this?
@@LohTec flashing the image onto the SD card was the deepest I've ever dove, twch wise. Is there a video tutorial you'd suggest for "loading up retroarch directly"?
@@jdhowell916 First, have you tried setting it up in the main menu? Like here: ruclips.net/video/dBH2H2eAGqg/видео.html that may be what you need. If not you can load retroarch directly in the setting menu on the main page. You may need a keyboard connected
Yep, you can connect wirelessly afterwards and move the rom image to the appropriate folder. Also could access the sd card directly if your PC can read the filesystem

Why don't you do a step by step tutorial on how to do this?
I second this. Please?
Nice review!
How does this system play N64 games like NFL Blitz?
N64 is near the limit but can be done especially if you overclock. Lack of buttons may be an issue
wow they got rid of the Daphie games. I was looking forward to playing those. Looks like I'll need to get this image.
Daphne never worked well in the other images anyways which is probably why they removed them

Does the arcadepunks site list the games on the wolfanzo image?
No. Normally no one does for legal reasons
How do I get this image file? I go to the website and whatever I click redirects me to spam.

You'd need a program like uTorrent, BitTorrent, etc. to download. Since the file is so large it's harder to share

39.5 inches
