I quit school after struggling and finding out I had ADHD, I've been wanting to learn programming/CS topics, this video helped put things into perspective that I can still make it even if I'm not a top student at a top school. Thanks for the video!
yooo same, i quit school (altho just temporarily) due to adhd. my grades are hella mid but i got v interested in programming, so i took a udemy course and watched cs50 stuffs. im now doing a full stack development internship :D u can def make it!!
Man, I feel you. I'm in my third year, a transfer student from a community college, and now studying at a big boi school. I changed my major from Psychology to CompSci and oh man idk what I'm doing but I'm trying to figure it out. All while having ADHD too
I love how relatable your comment was “that your grades were average for CS” one of the reasons why I didn’t go the CS route was because I didn’t think I had good enough grades to get through it. When I think back at it, I should have done it anyways
Dear Jed, I'm a ComSci student but I don't really watch you because you're into Computer Science, but I watch you just because. I really enjoy your daily vlogs and videos, obviously its a plus when computer science is involved, just like when you made that messaging app that looks like discord. My point is that don't be too conscious of your viewers and just make videos and follow your heart!
I just started and I am a freshman, it makes me feel a lot better to know that someone else didn't have their resume ready. I started HTML, CSS, and JS on my own and am doing to website/resume thing now so I can practice web development all through out college along with other stuff that I learn so I can put all of my projects on there kind of like a show case.
The mediocre grades don't measure your wealth, your drive and determination and positive outlook measure your wealth. And in my opinion you are FILTHY RICH .... keep up excellent Vlog and stories; whether they be lifestyle, tech, or just babble - you got this!
Ooof finally someone who never had prior experience in coding before college. I feel super overwhelmed given soo many ppl I know have had experience and all.
Many of those people who claim prior experience are just show offs and really know nothing. They over estimate their knowledge or abilities. Very typical in the tech industry to have big egos.
Thanks for posting computer science! As part of your fellow programmer audience it’s really appreciated :). (PS I really enjoy your cinematic content just as much btw)
A whole semester 10 hours a week learning functions and for loops. Many college classes (not just cs) make things way more complicated than they need to be. In some cases, people get so wrapped up in the complication that they don't even understand the fundamentals.
I'm also a first-year student who took BS CS in college. In a week one of my friends drop out and I feel lonely in this course but, I will pursue this because I'm an aspiring Software Engineer. Hope to survive 🙏
I identified with the part of "not having enough experience in the field," but after you shared your internships it was like "well, it takes time, but keep looking for new opportunities." It was encouraging, thanks! Spanish! 😱 Great! A dejar comentarios en español 🎉🎉
Love your content jedcal, keep it up. I appreciate your honesty in showing the grades you received, including explaining the courses that stood out to you during your attendance at BU. Edit: It for sure makes me more comfortable with my academic performance - how I'm not the only average guy out there.
Im out here freaking and learning about programing on my freshman year of highschool thinking that everyone was supposed to have some bg knowledge about coding and stuff. Thankyou i wont stress about it anymore, i will learn about it but not as stressfull anymore.
I recently returned to school last fall after taking only one semester of school 2 years ago. I decided to get into compsci after avoiding it for a long time cus i thought it looked boring. I ended up liking it and according to my professor, I was his best student in his programming class. But then the second programming class I took with a different professor that is terrible at teaching, i ended up getting discouraged and dropped the class cus i was failing. My previous professor was pretty disappointed in me cus he's also the chairman of the department so he noticed I dropped the class. He was confused as to why I had dropped and I made some excuse about sleep, which is also true but not the full truth. Now I have to wait until next fall to retake it and I've been discouraged ever since. Ik I can learn c++ on my own, but I just can't get myself to do it. I was practicing like once a week doing some problems with the basic knowledge I have of the language. But hopefully I get the motivation to rlly get into it again so that I can easily ace the class next time i take it
i'm a freshman majoring in cs at BU right now! crazy how youtube algorithm works lmao. i also didn't have any coding experience prior to starting college either, so it's nice knowing that someone else on the internet was in the same position as me. i'm currently taking cs111 and cs131; 131 is really kicking my butt lol
I have a Master's in Computer Science with a 3.98/4.0 GPA. This video is 100% my experience. It's all about work effort, whether it's being a garbage man, or writing assembly code for manufacturing machines, it's all about the effort you put it. And nobody is perfect. I'm so happy I got an A- in that course, because it allowed me to relax and forget the struggle to keep a 4.0
@@hooliganlexx Make sure to use resources outside of your classes and books. For example for math there are tons of you tube videos that have good teachers who use really good examples and methods of teaching the concepts. As far as your computer at home, almost any level of machine should be fine, but if you're worried about it contact your advisor and ask for the technical specs you'll need for a computer, each college has those things defined, so they can point you in the right direction. Good luck! In a little while you'll be looking back on this comment!!!

This was the most relatable “My CS Degree in x minutes” I’ve seen. Thank you!
every other person that did this vid had all A's ahhah
Hahaha this is so true. Everyone else went to some insane university and got a 3.85 and above. This guy actually seems normal.
