I went to their hotel for stay. I opted to eat buffet in their very own restaurant and went there just five minutes before the buffet closing time. They first hesitated but allowed me to eat. Most of the items were over and cold and they started to take away remaining food before I had eaten, which made me feel like homeless person coming to eat in their restaurant. Nothing can come close to what occurred next, I was eating dessert and filled my plate with all the items, suddenly officials from food safety dept came and were having argument with the manager there about misbehaving with a customer and also about low quality of food being served, they even took some samples of their food for testing, me after eating most of their food, sat there like a testing rat unable to digest what I had swollen. I was totally invisible to the restaurant's staffs, and they were not even concerned about me hearing that conversation. I left all the dessert items untouched and left with dismay, leaving the authority to do their job. The sad thing is that I had to pay 1000 Rs excl GST to these people for basically leftover food !
Same happened in our case. The same manager talked to us. The same statement mentioning, “we receive hundred of calls a day”. We booked and when we went there, they didn’t give us the slot saying ur details are not here at all. The manager constantly answers in English with so much of attitude and says the same thing again and again.
Having been in the hospitality industry myself, I am very sure that you were not in the wrong at all. This restaurant is a blot on the hospitality industry. They are beyond wrong. This is a classic example of their unprofessionalism, incompetence, lack of integrity. This is appalling. I respect your principles.
Hi, sorry to had to experience something this bad. The first thing you can do is send them a legal notice with the complete series of events and ask them for compensation of the advance amount with interest for the humiliation, pain and suffering that you faced. If they fail to give a reply with 15 days, you can approach the Consumer Forum situated at Chennai for appropriate remedy.
I was so excited to go to Igloo before leaving chennai. I didn't get slot for this, but didn't tried to book slot with hotel manager. Thank God for this. I actually planned to have booking with this restaurant in September 1st week but due to some reasons I changed my complete plan and didn't visit this restaurant. Few youtubers gave good review to this restaurant only because of that I thought to go there. May be they treated them in a good way because they are youtubers or I don't know what exactly reason is but after reading all the comments, experience of other customers and watching this video I feel like" thank God I canceled my plan" . Such a worst behavior and attitude towards customer. This actually reminded me the restaurant which said saree is not allowed in their restaurant only western dresses are allowed. Then it become a big issue but finally they admitted their mistake. Before becoming a manager at a restaurant these people must learn mannerism and how to speak with a customer. 1000 rs is not a small amount for a common man but that doesn't mean they should not wish or have rights to go to such restaurants. That manager and people who as this worst attitude must change their thinking and try to help their customer. Because in the end of the day they are not serving their customers for free , they get the payment. Humanity is first .

I love Chennai than any metro cities which is very business oriented rather than being ethical. We are losing our little culture or courtesy showing people.

I really wanted to go for that restaurant but after seeing this I changed my mind. This is not the way they treat peoples. Even in some small restaurants the managers are so polite and they apologise even for a small cause. Also receiving advance for booking is very bad, as you said even 5star hotels don’t want customers to pay money for advance booking. The management should take necessity actions on this. It happen to me 10 yrs back. Once I booked some of 8 to 9 tickets from Chennai to athiramapattinam. But the situation happen like you we are unable to travel . I went to travels and ask for refund but they refused. Beauty of the incident is. he asked the seat numbers and confirmed with me. He took other passengers for the same seats.

If you can do this in flight ticket booking, if you miss a flight due to your mistake, or airlines mistake if they will refund you never no one will go ask there. All private organisations only seek the profits Only. loss and suffering only the consumer should bear , they never take any responsibility, this is private sector rule.
No sir, in airlines, while booking a ticket they display the terms and conditions clearly, also any time you can reschedule or cancel the ticket through online with some extra amount prior to the journey. If we miss the flight in last minute then our money has gone as per the terms. But in this case, it is different, he wants reschedule before 3,4 hours which is normal. If it is non refundable or non reschedule then they should inform in prior or they should print it in the receipt as the airlines do. 1000 Rs for this restaurant booking is high. It is clearly the restaurant has mistakes and they follow rude rules.
Not surprised. The other day Phoenix mall suddenly cancelled parking just as we were about to park the car. We could not watch the 3PM show in Jazz Cinemas. Next day when we called Jazz Cinemas they refused to refund the ticket, this was not fault of ours. All businesses end of the day just want your money they care two hoots for customers. I faced a issue in Sage & Lavendar restaurant in Chennai. They charge 9.5% service tax, I noted it just after paying the bill. For the bill amount of around Rs.7900, I had to pay 650rs as service charge. When I asked to remove it, they denied to refund the amount and neither did they provide any food for that price. I don't know how to get that money back.

Theese guys even force you to buy water bottle from them and don't serve regular water! And food is not at all worth the cost.
