Thanks for the battle report, I’m in the process of learning the game myself, so I have some questions. At 5:32 shouldn’t the German Defense be +2 for the bocage and another +1 for the wheat field? At 14:19 I think it would have cost the German unit 2MP to cross the wall. At 14:40 wouldn’t the bocage along the hexspine of S6 and T6 block LOS? At 17:11 I think the Germans would still retain the activation after playing the luck card. At 28:13 Shouldn’t the Shaken American unit take another morale test and if failed they would become broken. At 29:02 the Pioneer unit only has 3 MP and that would slow the entire stack to 3MP as it is the slowest. At 37:50 Shouldn’t there be a leader loss check for the casualty reduction and again shouldn’t the shaken unit test again to see if it becomes broken? At 41:18 The pioneer unit should be at ½ FP for being shaken and Infantry melee is simultaneous, so the Americans still get to fight back. Really enjoyed the report, it helps me a ton to watch these reports while reading the rules and helps me generate questions to help me better understand, especially a game with as many nuances as this one.
I love Old School Tactical. Such a really good game that doesn't get enough attention. Thanks for doing the video. I'd like to encourage you to do more of OST.
Nice video! Entertaining. And helpful to see application of different rules. Thanks for sharing. PS believe leader casualty roll - a 1-3 (not 1) and leader is killed if 1) full unit killed or 2 ) reduced unit suffers casualty (or X result) that eliminates the unit? The 1 to kill on leader casualty roll applies only when full unit suffers casualty and is reduced ?
Thanks this playthrough gave a good feel for the game. One thing I'd recommend is putting the Move/Fired markers off one hex if the board isn't crowded so the units can always be viewed. Near the end of the video, I think the melee should be resolved simultaneously, not one result before the other. Thanks again.
Appreciate the video as I am just learning play. Question about the first attack. Why was the German defense not a 6? I thought foot units receive a +2 when attack is traced through bocage.
