    Funny, I just got done with school as well, class 9-22, started 7-22. 2x Darby, 2x Mtns, and only 1 Florida thank God. Similar experiences here, thanks for sharing!

      Love these stories , please keep them coming .Graduated out ofBenning in 1989( aged 25) . At the time I had bigger plans for myself( or so I thought) than just serving in the guard. Engagement, marriage , babies, have a way of altering your career trajectories. No regrets whatsoever. It ranks as the pivotal experience of my life, having encountered so many larger than Life individuals starting at fort Benning. Also, it has left me with a lifelong fascination for the military in general, and high-speed infantry in particular. Once again, so glad that somebody is finally representing the 75th on this platform!

    I was a infantryman in the usmc, always heard good things about the 75 regiment and the few marines that I knew that got to go to ranger school said it was a tough school and wished more slots were open for us regular grunts. Love your channel bro

      Most Marines I know who went to Ranger School were Recon and Scout Snipers who held team leader positions or above (not always but common.) With the addition of MARSOC Raiders some of those guys are also going but like Army Special Forces, it's not mandatory.

      @@shootingbricks8554 thanks for reply, true what you said all my fellow marines that had been to ranger school had at one time been in recon battalion except one sgt who got a slot as part of a reenlistment package

    love your stories! C/CO 2/75 92-96. Ranger School Class 11-94... some things do not change. "back in the day" it was Darby (Benning), Desert (El Paso), Mountains (Dahlonega) & Swamp (Florida). It took me 5 months (June-October) I recycled Darby and Swamp. Went in weighing 220, graduated Ranger School at 160, not an exaggeration. wouldn't trade the experience for anything! RLTW!

    You’re definition of SURT was spot on! I went to 82d PRC in 2015 and we got absolutely wrecked! Numbers were like 5 grad from original 86+

    I appreciate this. I never got to experience anything like this. I was 11-Bravo , National Guard, air assault unit from 1983-1989. 1990, as a E-5, I got called up in support of Desert Storm. I was a alpha bradley fire team leader. All of us 11-bravos were converted to 11 - Mike. Because I was in college when I joined, I had a split option contract. BCT , 1984, Sand Hill. AIT, 1985, Harmony Church

    I know in the 90's, the easiest way to get recycled or booted from that school for failing patrols was to come from Ranger regiment or SF. From what I hear from a friend who works there now, it is run much more professionally and is designed to be passed if you want to be there.

    • @zachthedangerranger

    14-87 / Darby Queen 1st or 2d obstacle was literally a log placed maybe a foot or so high- easy squeezy. Dude in front of me, running full speed, smacked the log dead center and down he goes with a tib-fib fracture. I immediately stop and render aid as tons of dudes are sprinting over the log. One of the cadre arrive and send me on my way.
    I finish the course and am later pulled aside for a spot report. Major minus for stopping on the Darby Queen. I roger that but my inner voice was like WTF?? I start to move out when I’m called back. Same R.I then gives me a Major Plus for stopping to render aid. It’s a wash. Never leave a fallen comrade.

    Hey man, love the videos, has really brought a lot of insight and expectations, quick question. I'm shipping out in a couple days to start basic then OSUT, currently pretty average for pt standards (14-16min 2mile, 35 pushups, 80 sit ups, etc). Will basic and OSUT prepare me for RASP 1 or should I try to add my own program on top of everything or would just busting my ass in basic be enough?

    • @zachthedangerranger
      @zachthedangerranger  2 года назад +1

      You will likely need to do extra PT during OSUT to bump those numbers up.

    • @Abcdefg-bc3ts
      @Abcdefg-bc3ts 2 года назад +2

      This is incredibly situationally dependent. Guys can fail for multiple reasons : patrols, peers, LOM(quit). If you quit ranger school you are most definitely getting RFS’d from regiment. If you fail patrols, but your platoon back home thinks highly of you, you might get another chance. This can change over time due to manning, the less need they have for guys in the line companies, the slimmer the chance of you having a second shot.
