I think Mozart would be thrilled to hear this!
Isn't it the greatest compliment if your music lasts through the centuries and is beloved by young people as well as old?
Purists need to relax; it is a wonderful thing if someone loves your music enough to wish to incorporate it in his or her own creations.

Lacrymosa comes from the Latin word lacrimo, which means cry (or more specifically, I cry). A fitting title if I say so, myself.

Kathryn Fiala I was beginning to think that most of Evanescence's rock music was based on Mozart music when I watch the movie The Voice From The Stone and I heard Amy Lee's solo song Speak To Me at the end of the movie I could be wrong but that's in my opinion and that's what I think I don't know for sure I'm trying my best to explain it how I want and I think the other youtubers have different opinions on this video I think and I can understand that some of their opinions may be the same as mine maybe that's just my next opinion I could be wrong about that and yes songs from Evanescence can be eerie like Haunted Tourniquet My Immortal Bring Me To Life Lacrymosa which is the song I just got done listening to here now Going Under and their new song Imperfection

  • @MonsieurALG

i just read the lyrics, the FULL ones and i just wanted to ask...
    is it "lacrymosa, dies illa"?
because i have learnt some latin at school and the full phrase means "teary, that day". the noun "dies" is in the 5th conjugation, whose all nouns are feminine, but this is the one thats masculine :P so it should normally be "lacrymosus, dies ille".
Sorry for the brainwash ^^" i just couldnt keep myself !

@UKpatriot90 Well that's up for debate (and a very large debate divinding Christian communities worldwide). I personally believe that his name being "Jehovah" (asJehovah's witnesses support it) is simply a misconception. "Jehovah" is the Hebrew translation of "I am" or "the one who is". He only gave this title (not name) to Moses because at the time, they were not ready to receive his "mysterious name of wonders", which was later revealed as "Jesus".

@MuseDuCafe First of all, bad performance? In an enclosed setting with the ability to edit and redo any part of a song, the performance is as good as possible. Second of all, Amy Lee is, for all you non-musicians out there, is as highly trained as a singer can be, and she has a tone quality that not a single singer can match. "Angelic" is the term most often used to describe it. Her notes are pure and without a waver, and her lungs are powerful enough to blow off a roof. Listen to her dynami

Personally - singing love song to music, which was intended to express sadness, sorrow, grief over lost people (no matter how sad this love was) is just wrong.
Not to mention, that love is often understood as the feeling you get when you are deeply attracted by someone's physical appearance.
People say they love a lot. They usually don't know what they are talking about. Doesn't matter if her love was true - as long as he (guessing?) didn't die, this should've had different melody.

Mozart was a fun loving musical radical in his time. on top of which he died young. I doubt he would be at all upset if he heard this song. The old people who are too conservative on the matter of music are the reason for the death of classical music. you should welcome the constant revival of classical music by each generation for it is the only way these divine pieces will survive. it's mearly evolution not destruction.

Forty and more years of being a professional in classical music and working extensively with singers has me the opposite of 'ignorant.' you silly. That breathy thing is a pop music trick, to sound 'innocent' or 'adolescent' and to me, aesthetically, it is just rotten cheesy: the pop audiences eat it up though, and this, despite the cribbing of Mozart to frame this tune, is 100% pop music, about which I guess you know an astonishing amount about.

Lacrimosa and Dies Irae are two separate parts of the same epic poem. I have no idea why "Dies illa", the second part of the first line of "Dies Irae" is here. The Lacrimosa is a completely different part and the two together make no sense. I was hoping for an actual *cover* of Mozart's Lacrimosa, not a shoddy remix. But, whatever, it's not what the little emo kids who listen to Evanescence now want anyway.

This is a terrible idea, cheap, not talknig about bad performance, but a shallow rip of a deep bit of music rendered pop-cheap with that adolescent breathy bad singing so many tweens think is,like 'really emotional. Fucking dreadful, really. Now, if they'd made up their own everything.
