@@Kennyisdarkvanilla they should have won on 93/94 year. They wrre up 3-2 and blew game 3. Yes Charles Smith screwed us that year or was it this year. Also the 96/97 team was really hood and were up 3-1 against the heat then the fight and 4 or 5 knicks players got supended. Ewing , Starks , LJ, and 2 more. They almost won game 6 with 2 main pieces out .

Players today would not survive this kind of defense!!!! That is why you see the really high scoring both on east and west teams. I remember that the eastern conference was exactly as you see here as where the western conference was a lot more of a fast paced higher scoring type of game. Mark Jackson towards the end of regulation and John Starks in OT showed how something as simple as removing handchecking made NBA scoring so much easier. Defenders weren't handicapped back then

To fair, the playground element hadn’t been accepted yet..hand checking only works for basic ball handler…these days you can loose a hand check defender with simple hesitation left to right crossover

NBA was at it's best when you had the right mix of this kind of physical no-nonsense play and flair players being able to express themselves. I hate to be cliche'd but today it's veered too far in the wrong direction and needs more of this type of play.

This is is when the rules were very loose and no zone allowed. Thus, they drafted very rough and tumble players. These softies of today just wouldn't get by back then. rules changes catered to euro type players, and even soft European basketball is a lot tougher than the u.s now.

Nearly every play, there's grabbing, pushing, pulling, hitting, kicking, fighting for rebounds, passing to get good shots, real picks, dunks, and guys playing hurt.
Now, they can't hardly breath on eachother for a whistle, nothing but free throws and three's, whining to the refs, nobody plays hurt. It's nearly unwatchable now.
