Hi KCHOI. I definitely relate to the person who asked about staying motivated through rejections (as I am sure many do). When I chose to leave my career in the Air Force it was months of false hope, interviews that led to nowhere, hours of filling applications, and replying to recruiter's emails with no promising results. I had an MBA and 14 years of directly related experience. I got no, after no, after no... But through all that, it made me better. Better at interviewing, better at writing a resume, and better at looking for opportunities. It resulted in my career in consulting with a firm that truly values me, my experience, and my potential. A job should be about what YOU are looking for, not what a company is looking for. It's easy to feel overwhelmed but no matter what, know what you are worth and do not accept anyone that is not willing to let you live up to your full career potential.
This is really what I needed to hear. Been going through a lot of changes and adulting these past months. Your messages really helps calm me down and that its normal to go through everything. Always love your videos and contents! ❤️
Great video and insight! I think that at the end of the day and there are many paths to success and we should strive to find what brings meaning to our own lives ✨ thanks Kristina!
After working 10 years for Corporate America, my ultimate career goal changed from getting good salary to doing what I really like to do (and still make good amt of $ lol). Thanks for another motivating video :)
I'm a second year organizational communication student who's interested in a potential career in PR or consulting, and I've been BINGEING your videos. They're so informative and engaging!
I’ve just started out in people and change management consulting- do you ever see yourself leaving as time goes on (especially as you’re getting married) and do you worry about the travelling because of your lifestyle changing? Where would you see yourself going,
Hey thought I'd chime in here 🙂 having been around consulting for ~5 years now and getting married not too long ago I can definitely understand where this question is coming from! If you can set expectations AND manage them well then it will make the work life balance manageable. But the reality is the work life in consulting is not very conducive to family life where you want to dedicate the majority of yourself to your family. The beauty of the situation is you're very attractive to employers in industry/government as a result of your consulting experience so you definitely have options. Good luck with it all!
working while eventually starting a family is definitely on my mind, but i honestly don't worry about it too much -- I have faith that i'll make the right personal and work decisions when the time comes!
@@aishac4981 very true! It's one of the best places to build the foundations for your career but as soon as you see the writing on the wall then you need to own that decision 😊
Thank you posting this Q&A video. Very interesting and I found what you said about rejection so very true. I wish you a speedy recovery and looking forward to your next videos. Btw, the spectacles you wear in this video suits you well. I wish you a lovely continuation of the week.
Thank you so much for this video (and for the others actually)! I moved to the UK to study for my masters degree and I want to pursue a career in consulting as well!
i loved this video kristina! im really glad that you are in a career that you can see yourself long term in. i forgot which video but i know that you've worked in a bunch of different roles like customer service and PR before finding what you actually enjoy doing and can see doing long term. i say that because i think i'll go through the same thing until i find what i wanna settle down and pursue long term haha. thanks for the vid!!
Kristina! Thank you for continuing to inspire (: . Remember watching "A week in a life of a consultant" almost 2 years ago. I've been working as as a software consultant now for about 8 months and your video was such a huge influence and inspiration!
dear kchoi! hi! do u have friends that work in landscape design field. i used to love this major but then i applies for some famous design firms and i just kept getting rejections. i think they just took 2people out of 400 applicants. so this really made me have some doubts about this career path. like is it all saturated in the landscape market? and i kinda want to switch to computer-human interaction design while apply for graduate school and maybe join the mainstream-work for tech companies ?
Totally not relevant to the video, but I’ve just started buying plants this month since I’m moving to New York this week from Rhode Island ( originally from Georgia) I really enjoy being a plant 🌱 mom. Lol! All I can do is look at your plants in the background. They’re so pretty and look like low maintenance plants which is what I invest in. I’m allergic to everything including pets so plants are the next best thing for something to care for and watch grow. Plus I don’t buy things to decorate my room. I just use plants as decorations which helps keep clutter down and being minimalistic as much as possible. Since I’m a young adult and can see myself eventually moving out the country. Cool 😎 job! And great info video!
I think consulting is really interesting and you have a steep learning curve that you won't get anywhere else. The only problem is all the traveling. I have a relationship for years now, before I went to college and we live together and so on. The travelling would be a problem so I feel like beeing stucked between two very big decisions. Do you have any advice for this issue? I will graduate in october and I am very lucky getting a middle-management role for my first professional position but I would love to solve that issue because the consulting industry is not out of this world for me. Greetings from Germany :)
Ahh good old jealousy - if only people could see the 'inside out' view as opposed to the 'outside in'... A lot of the people that you'd think are doing so well career wise have a myriad of other struggles they face. And I'm talking senior partners and execs. The reality is, to be highly successful at one thing, something else has to give and sacrifices are inevitable. No person is worth envying to the point that you make yourself miserable. Focus on being as well rounded as you can be in all aspects of life and you'll find yourself in a truly unique position 🙂
@@bykchoi thanks Kristina! This video just reinforced my dreams of wanting to work in change management consulting, specifically organizational change management (OCM) since I will be graduating with my bachelor's in Business Psychology and plan on getting a master's in I/O Psychology. Do you have any advice as to what type of work experience is the most relevant to change management besides consulting? I know it might be different for OCM but so far I think it would be anything in organizational development, organizational effectiveness or HR. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Wow, your voice is really soothing and beautiful. If not Consultant than you would have gone into Mass Media & TV or may be Singing career. What's your thoughts on novel coronavirus? How is affecting you in regard as Consultants mostly out there and travels for work?
haha aw thank you! i'm planning to work from home now. i also luckily don't have any travel coming up in the next couple of weeks, and our clients most likely won't be scheduling any for now...
Everytime I watched your video, I wished this successful person was me :-/ I want to express my thankness to you but I don't have much courage to change my current life QAQ That's awful :(

Jealousy can be such an ironic thing. The grass is always greener on the other side.
so true!
Your glasses are really beautiful
Was SO happy to see this video - I loveee your consulting content & you’re my favorite youtuber who covers that material/lifestyle/lessons :)
aww thank you!

Really enjoyed that, was very eye-opening since I've been feeling very anxious to move forward with my life at the minute. Thank you!

Hahaha I love my plants!! The jade plant on the left is definitely a bit more low maintenance (I think it’s technically a succulent).
Kristina, please tell if the consultancy business will be beneficial in future or What can replace it...
