BTS will teach you to appreciate dance.
It can be helpful for non-dancers to go look up some dancers and performers reacting to BTS. Invariably they are blown away. They often will explain why what they are doing is so difficult/rare/outstanding. BTS artistry is next level and mind blowing. Nothing like "Boy Bands" really. Though I understand the confusion as you view them through a Western lens and a limited knowledge base of the type of art they are doing. Your mind will search for something familiar to correlate them to, but really BTS is unique in many ways and can't be compared to anyone else. It's just not a fair comparison to others.
As I saw one person comment on another video, BTS is better described as an Artist Collective Group, with 7 geniuses in singing, dancing, songwriting, composing, producing and performing at the top levels in the world. Seven chart topping solo artists, who also happen to mesh in an incredible synergy that makes something we have not seen before. Even the KPop industry didn't know what to do with them or how to categorize them. They are called an "Overperformance Group" because of the high level of their performances. The Mnet Asian Music Awards simply called them "The Greatest of All Time."
They are the biggest group in the world for a lot of reasons, and their artistry is chief among them. Their choreography is far more than just dope dance moves. It's performance art storytelling, with moves reflecting lyrics and themes in the songs and genres of dance varying as wildly as their music. One thing they are known for is an unlikely fusion of contemporary, classic, modern, jazz, hip-hop and street styles, with martial arts moves thrown in on top. All those things take different types of muscle memory and strengths and are very difficult to be expert in simultaneously, let alone to fuse in single performances.

I can't help but comment this: This is the most difficult choreography you can imagine, it honestly has nothing to do with American boybands. BTS make everything seem easy because they do it to perfection.

@@ReactionsThatRock Even their more "saccharine" stuff, especially in latter years, is usually deeper than it appears and has some context that's important. For example, they have a song that you would probably consider incredibly "boybandy" - Boy With Luv - and style-wise, it is, but it's also a response to an earlier song of theirs called Boy In Luv, and shows how their attitudes have changed as they've matured and reconsidered relationships (thoughtful young men vs. hormonal teenage boys). They absolutely do have songs that are more fun pop songs (the whole English trilogy) but in general, there's usually a lot of thought behind what they're saying even if you have to dig a bit, and they very, very often revisit themes as they mature. Their body of work is so interconnected.

I used to like a boy band when I was in junior high, but I grew out of it and didn’t really pay attention to the future ones that became really popular. Later I was into rock, ska/punk, modern or alternative, etc. It didn’t occur in my head that they are boy bands in the beginning. I’ve always refer to them as a group or band. @@ReactionsThatRock I can see how a choreography video can be a bit confusing to someone new to all of this, specially when it's in a different language. It's just that if they're going to dance, they're going to go all out. That's their philosophy with pretty much every aspect of their craft. They also don't skate by on their lyrics, their music or even their themes. It's one of the reasons why we love them so much.
BTS is all heart. You just need a bit more context to them. They write songs about their personal experiences. Even songs that on the surface look casual, have a very personal meaning to them. Their solo songs are more like an extension of different aspects of BTS rather than something separate. It's just a stronger individual color.
Because they write based on their experiences, they could form a storyline not just for an album, but through several of them. It's 10 years of work, so it's not always stand-alone. But that's why we recommend the Guide to give a basic idea about them. Labels box them in and BTS are sort of their own thing.
For example, this song is from the album 'Map of the Soul' which uses Carl Jung's psychological concepts to explore the unexpected trials of their success and how they get past them. It's an arc and this song comes at a very crucial turning point in the album. Of course, you can just listen to it casually but it's not something you would expect of a boy-band. Their songs and music videos are so detailed sometimes there are fan made explanation videos on them.
Their work is very diverse, so there's something for everyone. As long as you keep exploring, you'll find something and even unexpectedly like certain things.
I think 'Spring Day' will be more like what you're used to. It's a mellower song about grief and loss and the music video is a tribute to the victims of the Sewol Ferry Tragedy. 'Fire' is an energetic and fun song about following your passions despite societal expectations. 'Black Swan' is a more serious track about being on the brink of losing your passion. 'Idol' is a middle finger to unfair criticisms with a purposefully exaggerated music video. Whichever appeals to you. You'll get to all of them sooner or later. Don't worry about it.

@@ReactionsThatRock I get that the sound and the dance could overwhelm the actual meaning of this song, but beyond the superficial this song tracks with the theme of the album Map of the Soul - based on Carl Yung's work. If you pay attention to the lyrics it's about seeing your shadows, recognizing that life can be painful but that part of maturing is being willing to embrace that and move forward, "bring the pain" - that through facing our challenges both externally and internally we grow and become that much more resilient. Other songs in the album, like Intro Persona, Interlude Shadow, Outro Ego and Black Swan also delve into and explore these concepts. This is also a performance video - the official MV absolutely tells a story loaded with symbolism.

    • @terebinthias
      @terebinthias 3 месяца назад +3

@@ReactionsThatRock I think what is bugging me here is that there seems to be this implication that dancing in the videos somehow makes the song or message less meaningful, and I don't understand that mentality at all. If anything, the choreography (especially for BTS) adds to the story. Whether or not you personally enjoy dance, I would encourage you to think about the talent and artistry that goes into all of this. There are more ways to tell a story with music than lyrics and instruments. Korean pop music developed alongside television, so visuals and dance have always been an important part of kpop and don't always correlate neatly with how we do things in the West, even with "boy bands" or "girl bands" or whatever. So as you keep going... consider the entire performance because they (BTS) and their team put an incredible amount of heart into all of them, even the "fun" ones.

I think you would like “I Need You” original version 19+. There’s no dancing in the MV and it’s the first breakout song they had. Be aware that this MV was also the start of the Bangtan Universe or BU. It’s a fictional storyline that runs throughout many other MVs, short films, a webtoon, books/notes and a mobile game. It’s also been made into a Netflix series that has yet to air. And, from all indications, BTS plans to pick back up on the storyline in 2025 when they return. It will be the 10th anniversary as “I Need You” was released in 2015. Note that the visuals of BU related MVs do not necessarily correspond to the lyrics. Borahae 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

This is the choreography version. There is another MV where the only dancing is the dance break. Also... there is not a single old-school "boy band" group that had choreography anywhere NEAR as complicated as what BTS does and BTS sings and raps live WHILE DANCING. :P

Ahhh you’re just a youngster 😅 as someone who lived before and through the the 90’s boyband era, and also took her niece to BSB and NSync concerts and saw them live and has seen BTS live, I can say that there may be a few correlations but BTS are on a whole other level with the choreo and performance. Their dances compares more to Michael Jackson choreos.

Taylor's Guide soon, yay! Pause as much as you need. It flows very well and is easier to sit through than you might think. I've seen it countless times and could not (would not) do that, if it felt like effort in any way. There are a lot of docuseries or documentaries I've seen and loved but once was enough. LOL. This is worth the watch.
These guys started out as a HipHop group then added vocals and choreo of the Kpop world at a time when that wasn't done. As a result they were shunned by both the HIPHOP world (who considered them sellouts) and the Kpop world (who considered them too free and non-conformists). So they said screw it, we'll do what we want. And they did it well. Now KPOP try to emulate their format. But still 90%+ KPOP still don't or aren't allowed, to participate in the creative process of their music, which BTS has done since before debut. So, no, they aren't an "80's American boy band" who are just pretty boys who sing and dance. That was my pre-conceived notion going in as well. But at this point, I kind of thought you'd see that. It took me two songs. Butter (which was one of the worst songs to see because it is one of their rare songs that only solidified my predjudice to begin with). Thankfully something came around and I found myself giving them another chance so I started with their first song "No More Dream" and it was such a contrast to the former, that I gave them another chance and every song I've heard since has continued to demonstrate their diversity and versatility that I've been hooked. They def have those uber pop songs, but it is a fraction of who they are and they go equally dark, depressing, and honest. But they are always true to themselves. And as the rappers struggled with that "am I an IDOL or ARTIST" the most in the early days, they eventually accepted that it didn't matter what "categories" people will put them in they are themselves and they are happy with that. They are true artists but they are on a stage that considers them Kpop Idols too. It is what it is. And they happen to figure out on their own that they could be both.
As for people telling you you did it right or wrong... hopefully this will help... there are preferred versions but, like this for example. I'd be surprised if someone told you that you picked the wrong one. This is the one we recommend consistently. I think if you use links we provide, you shouldn't get too much of "you got the wrong one." There are almost always other versions (like if you do an mv we want a live with Eng Subs) or the vibe of another version is different enough to be recommended as well. But there are "wrong versions" like the official mv of JOKE by RM. You have to use this link: ruclips.net/video/OxMrBNBWksM/видео.htmlsi=jXen2Ok9pKFfJnf0 because there are no subs on the official and the auto captions are such a mess they render the epic lyrics of his useless. So please bare with us. We aren't trying to be difficult either. We have all seen pretty much everything and all versions and we are trying to help recommend options (which, well, you are going to have to decide what you want to do based on recommendations because there is so much content). You can go down tangents and come back, doesn't matter... there is a lot of fun, versatile content. Just remember almost no two songs are the same so if you don't like something, just give the next one a chance. One of my favorite things about them, is their versatility. They use whatever style or genre to suit the flow and message they want to say. No genre is off limits.
And again... you keep saying you don't like the "poppy boy band sound" so why would you insist on doing Butter and Dynamite? Maybe later so you can experience it, but that wasn't even what they wanted to be known for. Those were not planned or intended to be as huge as they are... You should check out Born Singer (written on the tune of Born Sinner by JCole) in 2013 shortly after debut. It gives a good insight into their mindset and one of the ways they incorporate vocals and rap. This stage mix juxtaposes their early performance with one they did a few years later. ruclips.net/video/dE68ZbmDi_A/видео.htmlsi=1OZj7o3x2wYN2yf1 Anyway, I'd love for you to start with something cool like that rather than their uber pop. They do change things up a lot. You will come to expect cool unexpected flow changes as their norm. Just remember, just because they do it so seamlessly, it isn't the norm and they and their production crew are definitely masters of their craft.

I gotta be honest… I used to HATE the poppy boy band sound but I must be getting softer in my older age as some of it is catchy. I’ve also discovered I really enjoy pop-folk and I NEVER thought I would. In addition to BTS, my favorite newly discovered artists are Noah Kahan and James Blunt… so I could probably tolerate (dare I say enjoy?!?) the really poppy stuff too.
Don’t worry, I’ll listen to a lot more and just like most bands/groups, I’m sure some songs will hit me harder than others and that’s totally ok. I have songs by my favorite bands that I simply can’t stand! 🤣💜

For those new to K-Pop, Welcome. There are lots of videos out there on the formation of various groups, especially BTS that pretty much introduced K-Pop to the ‘rest of the world.’ PSY (Gangnam Style) in 2012 (who owns his own entertainment company now) was very popular and opened the door, but BTS blew the door away. K-Pop is not new. It was introduced in 1992. As it evolves, it is defined by “generations.” BTS is in the 3rd generation, Stray Kids & ATEEZ are in the 4th generation and now we have brand new groups defining the 5th generation. I purchased my first K-Pop CD in 2005 (a second generation artist called ‘Rain’) while stationed in Germany. Europe has been more aware of K-Pop for a couple of decades than the U.S. Many Americans ask the question why they were not aware of it and it’s mainly due to the control the American music companies have on the market. They change the stats on views, won’t let radio stations play the songs, etc. There is a video on that too how BTS scares the American music industry. There was probably a public bias against it too because the work ‘Pop’ is in the title. Anyway, K-Pop is NOT a genre of music. It includes multiple genres (hip hop, rap, pop, EDM, rock, etc.). It’s a format of music where the top entertainment companies in Korea have competitions periodically seeking talent. From those selected, the company pretty much determines what the trainees are best at, i.e., singing, dancing, modeling, acting, etc. then they go into training. If it’s singing, the groups are formed to train for singing and dancing together. Most contracts are 3 or 7 years. Many groups don’t last that long and most don’t renew. Many new groups come out annually but fizzle. The SK music industry also has solo artists/rappers/Indie-rock groups (like ‘The Rose”), etc. who release their own music. The SK acting industry also makes more TV series than movies. K-dramas are very popular. Nearly all of the songs for those shows have original soundtracks (OSTs) sung by an Idol from a popular group or solo artists so a lot of songs are overlooked from the music charts. The members of the K-Pop groups (or singer/dancers are called Idols). BTS specifically writes more of their own songs or those collaborated with others and their own lyrics and include more genres of music in any given song. Starting as a hip hop group they received a lot of hate over the years. Mostly from American rappers who teased them about their clothes, wearing makeup, not being ‘real’ rappers, etc. BTS’ rap songs are hard and were written about those experiences (the Cyphers, Ugh, Joke, etc.) as their response. BTS also has given homage to those who inspired them, calling them out by name, whether it be rappers like Tupac or pop stars like MJ. Give K-Pop a chance. You may find something new that you like.

i understand where youre coming from about boyband-y but also dont. because as someone who LOVED boybands, LOVED punk bands/rock bands/alt bands LOVED vocal/acapella groups etc the list goes on
i do not see boyband when i see or hear bts. even their most boy band-y songs like dynamite, butter, permission to dance or just one day, dna, boy with luv none of them remind me or give me typical boy band.
i loved one direction have a signed CD
loved jonas brothers (still keep up with their new stuff)
wasnt crazy about NSYNC or backstreet boys might've been a tad too young but i remember the hits and the dances.
none of these boybands remind me of bts or visa versa.
for one bts authentic lyric writing wasnt present in majority of the boybands music
the level of dancing was also not there bts are REAL dancers the boybands that danced literally anyone can do those moves that to me is not real dancing where its difficult, you need technique you need talent dancing is just as much a art form as singing or playing a instrument. 12 hours a day practice doesnt make this boyband level.
lastly the songs the production always felt real as well as not afraid to experiment. boybands rarely experimented their songs were all so similar and i LOVED them but bts ability to make every song unique with a unique meaning not cheesy not cliche unless on purpose make the songs sound unique make the dances unique there are NO two songs that sound the same in any of bts discography theres elements of the same things in certain songs but never the way boybands did it.
i think boyband is a way to undermine bts artistry to box them into something when theyre everything. of course you are not being malicious and i understand what you were trying to say but seriously the deeper you dig ESPECIALLY for songs without music videos you will see bts is far from a boyband.
they have some elements and songs that resemble but even those feel less like boyband to me
to me i see boyband as disney, nick, for kids/teens that box. the only boy band i wont consider that is boyz to men. i would say bts is very similar to boyz to men in some songs but theyre also similar to Nas or rage against the machine or adele or michael jackson etc etc they have so many different types of songs they have not gone heavy rock/metal (YET again you never know what youll get with this group) but for example RATM vibes in their songs baepsae, not today, am i wrong, spring day, ma city only ma city has a rock vibe the others are different genres but the lyrics are so deep and important when applied to korean society or even globally theyre on the level of RATM to me. performing protest songs on live tv risking being blacklisted by their government.

I get that. To my defense, I’ve spent ZERO time in my 45 year existence watching or listening to boy bands so I think it’s an easy reference point for someone like me who is rather new to all music (current and past) that isn’t crunchy rock or metal.
I guess it’s the old rock and roll guy version of thinking all metal is AC/DC. (Seriously, for years when I’d tell people I listened to metal, THATS the band they’d bring up! I’m starting to realize my pop-ignorant self is doing the same type of thing!). 💜😎

I going to start by saying I'm 59... I discovered BTS by accident just after Danger was released and curiosity got me to listen to more, Captions on, from there I was lost. They are fantastic musicians, they can sing, rap & dance, they often write their own lyrics and are often involved in the production. Their lyrics, often focus on personal and social commentary, touch on the themes of mental health, troubles of school-age youth and coming of age, loss, the journey towards loving oneself, and individualism. Their work also often references literature and psychological concepts and includes an alternative universe storyline.
"BTS," actually stands for the words, "Bangtan Sonyeondan," which translates to mean "Bulletproof Boy Scouts." 'Bangtan’ means to be resistant to bullets, so it means to block out stereotypes, criticisms, and expectations that aim on adolescents like bullets, to preserve the values and ideal of today’s adolescents,"
They started out as a HipHop group in 2013, (they have 3 rappers, 2 of which were from the Korean underground rap scene & 4 Vocalists) but actually cover so many genres of music in addition to HipHop, invluding Pop, EDM, Rap, RnB, Rock, Urban, Trap, Ballads... they say not everyone will like all BTS songs, but there is a BTS song for everyone.
For anyone willing to find out more I recommend taking a look at what they have to offer and suggest the following:
    Butter (All English)
    Dope
    Fire
    Danger
    DNA
    Idol
    Blood Sweat and Tears
    Mic Drop
    Black Swan
    Fake Love
    Not Today
    Save Me
    Truth Untold
Spring Day (which has spent 5 consecutive years in Goan's Digital Chart's, you also need to watch Italian Armys video on how it rekates to the Swol Ferry Disaster)
    Your Eyes Tell
The Cyphers if you like rap
    Then solo works:
Jungkook - Euphoria, My Time, Seven
V - Singularity, Stigma (live version), Sweet Night (the first and only song in history to top 119 countries on the worldwide iTunes chart), Love Me Again, Rainy Days, Fri(end)s
Suga's alter ego Agust D - Daewitcha, Agust D, The Last, Shadow, Haegeum, Amygdala
    RM - Persona, Joke
J-Hope - Boy Meets Evil, More, Arson
    Jin - Epiphany, Abyss
    Jimin - Serendipity, Filter, Crazy

This is one of the hardest and most impressive choreographies in all of Kpop, so if you still didn't like it amd thought the video was "too dancey" then I get the vibe that you just dont like dance at all. It's kinda like someone watching a Michael Jackson performance and saying its "too dancey", you know?
With that said, if you dont like dance at all then you will continue to feel this way about BTS amd their performances in the future because dance is an integral part of the whole package.
I disgree with you that this was a "boyband like performance" just because it had dancing in it. You could put any number of western boyband performances up alongside this one and watch them simultaneously and I think the difference is stark. A lot of western boybands have mediocre dancers at best, but BTS put in the time, effort, and sincerity towards both dance and music to be considered true professionals.
Either way, everyone has their likes and dislikes in the end. I'll keep an eye out for your reaction to the guidein the future.

@@ReactionsThatRock I think the reaction is just because the term "boy band" has been used so often in the west to pigeonhole and diminish them that people immediately jump to "defend", but it's true that that is the only frame of reference a lot of people have. I myself scoffed when my sister in law took my kids to a kpop concert in Seoul years ago...,only to find myself falling deep into the BTS rabbit hole years later. (And I'm a middle-aged lady in NY with very broad music taste. Best concerts of my life Green Day, BTS and Suga solo - and I've seen just about everyone - from rock to pop to country and pretty much everything in between). I found myself examining some prejudices and preconceived notions I that I did not even realize I had re: music, performance, dance, culture, language and even race. BTS was not what I expected at all but it does take a deep dive to understand all of the complexities and variety that they bring to the table and that can only come with time. I love your reactions and suspect you will find group and individual songs that speak to you and probably some that might not be your cup of tea (although even when they're in the "pop/light" vibe, if it's in Korean and they wrote it, the lyrics are generally a lot deeper or more complex than our typical pop songs. ) Happy BTS journey to you. It's a lot of fun.

Not a boyband, but a Super Group. I believe they are now the 2nd highest awarded group in history. Somewhere between 950-1400 awards. (Still waiting official count on this). They have a huge discography and do almost every genre you can think of. You don't have to relate or like everyone (even though it drives people crazy). I like your honest reactions. Most of their songs have deeper meanings to them.
On reflects their song N.O.. The higher they rise to the top the more demons come out to challenge them. It talks about how lonely it is at the top and who can you trust. Can you even trust yourself. They start to fear their egos and self and instead of ignoring the challenges they continuously face they learn to walk hand in hand with them. (I fly together with that black wind). They became strong by identifying their fears and facing them head on. (Gotta go insane to stay sane). They almost made the decision to disband in 2018 (Bring the pain). They went through a lot and were so exhausted, but their passion for music kept them going. (Can't hold me down you know I'm a fighter). Despite all the hardships they keep going on and on and on and on oh yeah!

One thing to expect from BTS = they are consistently unpredictable and will never do what you expect. Every track is different, and they do not have a 'genre'.
I would never call them a 'boy band' (as they are thought of in the western system) because A they are men, and B talented and hardworking as they may be, most 'boy bands' are primarily given music to perform and have little to do with the message, or with artistic creation. Even though some western band members do write, every member of BTS is involved in writing and production and BTS have always had artistic freedom.
Hope you continue to enjoy learning about BTS. I love everything (well, nearly!) they do, but I will ditch any reactor who seems to be insincere, so an honest dislike is better. Disliking is Ok, just show respect and move on ... and maybe refrain from comment until you've seen the whole thing.

@ReactionsThatRock LOL. I'm yanking your chain just a bit. I'm 55, I've lived through many boy bands, and enjoyed a lot of it. I honestly do not think of BTS in that context. I have nothing against boy bands. There have been some great songs and talent come from them. Justin Timberlake and Harry Styles being 2 recent examples. I don't put BTS in that category for multiple reasons. It's not 1 main guy and a bunch of minor contributors. Each has the talent to go alone. The vast majority of boy bands do not write or produce any of their music. Boy bands sometimes do choreo, but not even close to the level of complexity that these guys do. Multiple guys in BTS could be purely pro dancers if they chose to.
Imo, the only commonality with a boy band is that, yes, they are all male, and the group was formed by an outside entity.
I just think labels like boy band, or k-pop, put them into a box that they broke out of long ago!

Huh. You might be the first person I’ve seen who would have preferred the music video to the kinetic manifesto film (which is basically a dance video). The choreography of this song has a very high degree of difficulty and you don’t get to see much of it in the music video so most people prefer this one. One thing that the music video does is demonstrate through the symbolism that this song isn’t just a fun little dance tune but actually has a very deep meaning that is based on psychology, specifically the psychological theories of Carl Jung. Still, if this song is too dancy for you I have been wracking my brain for BTS songs that you might like better. Most of the ones that come to mind do not have music videos although many of them have live performance videos you can watch. If there is no live performance you can find color coded lyric videos on RUclips that translate the lyrics into English and also show you by the color of the words which member is singing. One song that does have a music video is Mic Drop. So put that one on your list. Fake Love also has a music video you might like that one. But I think you might also like: Pied Piper (live performance, look for one with English Subtitles), Anpanman (live performance), Run BTS (live performance), Louder Than Bombs (lyric video, don’t do the one with the picture of V holding the cup. The translation is word for word and the idioms don’t make sense) but especially Louder than Bombs I think you will like. I’ll see if I can find a link to a good video. Thank you so much for the info and the recommendations! I’ve said in prior videos that I LOVE videos that tell a story. This was the dance version of a rock video where the band is up on stage playing the song. It can be a hard song to play and have amazing guitar solos but it just doesn’t move me the way a story does. I guess I like seeing deeper visual representations. That said, I also don’t really understand or have any real experience with dance so while I’m sure there’s deeper representations there, I’m just to dance-ignorant to understand what I’m seeing.
Much like my dive in to music outside of my norm, I’m sure more exposure to dance will help connect me to it… but for now, I’m at the “it looks cool but I don’t get it” phase.
Also, to my defense, I covered some REALLY great solo vids that had REALLY deal stories (August D, V, Jin, etc) so I think to go from the deep emotional storytelling to the upbeat dancing made for a completely different vibe.
I didn’t hate it and I think more exposure would be good for me!

BTS are constantly changing their hairstyles and colors, so don't base anything on that. You will learn their faces eventually, and their voices if you keep listening to their work, as they are all quite distinct.

It really is! I’m willing to step in that minefield though.
I’m having fun and not trying to make a living here. I can afford to upset a few people by not loving everything they love.
It happens. Honesty is important to me. 💜😊

So happy to see this reaction! I'm glad you enjoyed it. As choreography is a big part of BTS, I think this was the 'right' version of this song to watch since you are so new to the group. The official mv is also good and worth a watch! I think you might be mis-remembering how much dancing the boy bands of the 80s/90s did; it was nowhere near the amount of complexity of BTS (or any of the kpop groups), though I recall thinking it was soooo good back then ;) I hope your dog gets better soon! Yes, the Taylor Mari guide will be great. If you can't do that quite yet, I'd suggest Mic Drop (feat Steve Aoki) or Fake Love. It takes a lot of us months to tell the guys apart, so please don't worry about that. The hair color changes can really mess you up :) Thank you!

Thanks! Dancing and choreography is odd to me as it’s an art I don’t really understand. I know it looks cool but I’ve got such little experience that I don’t know what’s hard and what’s not and what certain moves may express.
That said, I’m here to learn and I can’t hate on how good their dancing is!!!

Kinetic Manifesto - A public declaration of movement using Body motion or Dance, percussion instruments or Marching band accompanied with sound and visuals all packed into a modern-day visual which is a Video.
If you had been told there were TWO options for this song (performance and story) you may have enjoyed it a little more. The story driven MV is very detailed with lots going on. You might still enjoy giving it a watch at some point as it's very well shot. :)

Really Enjoyed your reaction!! Just a little information, I have been since 2017 and I enjoy watching new faces reacting to the Boys, no matter how many times I have seen the video. You will get a lot of comments in up coming videos especially the Guide to BTS Videos, about the Members ages that are listed in the Video and how Koreas aging system was different up till recently, Now They Go With the International Ages of the Members, I tend to Go bye the Ages the Members Themselves Give Us it less Confusing then Adding an Extra Year or two onto their Age. Here is a little list of information you might find Helpful
    RM: ( Leader, Rapper )
Jin: ( The Oldest and He is a Vocalist )
Suga :( Rapper and Producer )
Jhope :( Rapper and Dancer )
Jimin :( Same age as V and He is a Vocalist, Dancer )
    V :( Vocalist and Dancer )
Jk :( Youngest of the Group and Vocalist and Dancer )
Before other ARMY Come at Me, Yes there is a Dance Line, Rap line and Vocal Line,
Do all The Members Dance ( Yes They Do ) Can all the Members Sing ( Yes they Can ) Can all of them Rap ( Yes They Can ) it’s to Confusing for New Army When they Here Different Things Coming From Different People, That’s Why we Recommend the Guide to them. So let the Members and the Guide Teach Them, Just like they Taught Us. RM said it Best In the Wired Auto Complete Interview When they Were Asked About their Ages, He Stated for the Members to Use their International Ages or His Words Exactly ( Global Ages ) Cause He Knew it Was Easier For New Army and Non Army Watching to Hear it that way.
Songs From just the Rappers ( Ddange, UGH, Chypers 1-4 and Outro Tear )
Songs From just the Vocalist ( Zero O’clock, House of Cards, The Truth Untold
Songs from Everyone ( Mikrocosmos, Blood Sweat and Tears, Black Swan and Blue and Gray and Make it Right)
just to name a Few, hope this helps get you started,
There are So Many B-Side songs that Get Neglected to be Mentioned ( Bside just Means No Music Video for the Song only Live Versions ) Such as Songs like ( Path, Moving On, Sea, Anpanman, GoGo, 21st Century Girls and Converse High ) these Songs only have Live Performances to them. Hope this helps. You can Find a lot of Their Live Performances on the Channel title ( Enjoy BTS More )

Thanks for the info and recommendations! I’m actually familiar with the Korean age system as every newborn is 1 year old and not 0 like the rest of the world. I can see how it could be a bit confusing.

@@ReactionsThatRock You are one step ahead of where I was when I became Army in 2017, I just wish people wouldn’t make it an argument of who’s right and wrong over it, The clip in the Guide Video is of JK ( Jungkook ) stating He was 15 when He Joined BTS, Now I don’t think During that interview JK was thinking to Himself Should I say I was technically 13 almost 14 not 15 when I joined so the rest of the world knows My Real Age, or was He Simply saying He Was 15 when He Joined because in Korea He was 15 when He Joined. You will see multiple paragraphs debating over this very fact.!! I just like reading those comments, I didn’t realize it was that big of a deal for people to bust out their math skills to prove a point. Just go by what Jungkook Himself Said.!!

I noticed in the comments that you repeatedly mentioned how you like videos with more of a story in them so I wanted to mention two things - first, in regards to this song there is an official video for this song with almost no dance but a very strong storyline. Second, there is something called the BU (BTS Universe) which involves an incredibly complex storyline that runs through many of their music videos. I’m not the best person to talk about the BU but, maybe some of the other ARMY could help out …?

I’ve seen both of those points brought up. I actually went with this version as I’ve not seen them dance yet as a group and felt it was long overdue. I’m sure I’ll check out the MV for this too. Ive also heard rumblings of the Universe and it’s intimidating but I’ll have to jump in to that too! 🤩💜

Their hair changes every single or album the only one who stays with black mostly is the gentleman in my pfp 😂💜
I would say this choreography is harder than you imagine and they sing live while performing it . I think no kpop group (dance is one of the main elements in kpop ) dared to cover it 😂
Bts have the best discography i have ever seen the versatility and message behind are mind blowing
You will understand me when you listen to their albums .
Try bts On grand central performance on jimmy fallon . They rented the whole station for Bts .

Youll find a ton of metalheads in Army. The different genres with the drama, meaningful lyrics, and self-produced? Forming a grassroots fandom? Yeah that a call to us.
One of my favs is Black Swan, and check out the Art film as well (2 vids) and Lie. It has that classical music feel that drives a story on.

I think that’s what’s pulling me in. I’m so used to absolutely amazing relatable lyrics written in a masterfully poetic way only to have mainstream pan it in favor of 3 minute spoonfed radio garbage. I see a very linear case here where the melodies, harmonies and lyrics are beyond the flat mainstream garbage and the industry just doesn’t seem to get it.
Thanks for the recommendations! I’ll be getting to em in due time!!!

Western music has become predictable in its patterns. K-POP really got me excited about music again because the patterns are so varied that it's fun for my brain. So it was nice to see you surprised. There will be songs you really like and songs you don't care for. Most of their group songs are "dancy" because that is what they were put together to do to remain competive in their country. What sets them apart though is the true to life lyrics in the songs they write.

Love this video!! Btw-please react to 2 other BTS videos. “Blood,Sweat And Tears” and “Film Out” The first one is about the battle between good and evil and giving into temptation. It’s a movie unto itself! The other one is “Film Out” In some of the videos, Jin is the protagonist who time jumps into alternative universes. They’ll both blow your mind! I promise! Welcome to Army and Borahae!
