Bloody love these old clips, but just wanna be back there in the 70s. Life was good, mum and dad were still here and as a young lad I didnt have a care in the world.
Thanks for putting this on. I remember watching banger racing on a Saturday afternoon during World of Sport. Would be awesome to get this formula on TV again.
I recall regularly doing the 50+ mile round trip on my old Matchless single motorcycle from my home in Essex to Ipswich Stadium and back to watch the Spedeworth racing. It must have been in the late 60’s, I think. Great fun! Happy days.
I've done 10 seasons of Bangers to help raise money for the children's hospice and to break a few bones doing it ! I used to race a transit and every other weekend when it was time for a good wallop ! Afterwards we had to change the water pump and the distributor and put a new cam belt on it and time up the engine !!! Big carburettor and it really flew and was rolled over several times but kept on going ! Ace fun !!!
This event is definitely on my bucket list. I remember watching banger racing on the every Saturday afternoon on STV program World of Sport with Dickie Davis when I was a youngster
I went a couple of times around 1980 when I was a kid on holiday with my family in Norfolk. It was in the evenings and they always started the hype with a very specific 60's instrumental tune that I always remember but can never find. Great memories. :)
Actually found it..this is what you would have heard then - ruclips.net/video/X6bsoyT86LE/видео.html - Bert Kaempfert And His Orchestra: A Swingin' Safari, or they also played - ruclips.net/video/Op2U-qGUDkg/видео.html - B.Bumble & The Stingers - Nut Rocker :D
Very different to banger racing of the later 80,s.It was all about granadas and old jags. It had got pretty violent by then too .Hednesford Hills was a great day out.
Love these old videos loads of Westys and rovers , 6/ 110s reminds my of WOS and Dickie Davis I never understood why Bangers and Stock cars never really got the coverage on telly it great viewing and entertaining love to see meeting today on TV
I'm not one for the nanny state but the complete lack of safety regulations in these old races -- crew wandering across the active race field, no warning flags, no roll bars, no rules regarding striking the driver's door, drivers getting out of their vehicles and walking around the track amidst cars crashing into each other -- did my head in. Simpler times no doubt. At least they wore helmets.
@@MILOPREMIER 😄that would be quite appropriate. I remember once mr.grumpy (152) being driven round as he stood in the hatch of his ice cream van throwing crisps n sweets over the fence for the kids at cowdenbeath. Nice gesture at the time but probably get sued now for hitting a bairn with a lollipop or something.
Definitely proper banger racing. Not the shite nowadays with driver's getting butt sore over taking a hit then kicking off on the infield like a 2yr old throwing his shit out the pram.. STUDY AND LEARN KIDS... Then you'll be grown up and able to call yourselves a man...
So much better in those days. Now it seems that they mostly want to pile into each other and cause a row of cars that are wrecked beyond moving. I don't see the point in that. One thing I noticed is that most of these cars came apart due to rust.

Other country, exact the saame feeling. Life was humble, cosy and without today's nonsense.

Totally agree with you. Nostalgia, no cares in the world. Great memories
Nostalgia is one hell of a drug
Yup. Nothing is better now. 😫🇬🇧

Health and safety for the masses is just another disguise for slavery. Be careful what you wish for.
6:17 a Petty blue #43 entry. The King had fans all over!
Linda is what one, in the sport of derby, would call, a sandbagger. 😂
Still play mouldy old dough to this day at start of a banger race😁
The tune will never die and will stay in your head forever 🤪
@@mehentaldetectorists7064 fine tune it is too. 👍
Be great if they got an old ice cream van in van Bangers and playing mouldy old dough from its loudspeaker lol

There was another instrumental that they used..do you know what it might be??
The real road warriors.
Amazing how much they managed to miss.....All those cars and only about 3 impacts caught by the cameras lol

Good old days !! Before we were overtaken !!!!!!
Worryingly,I cant see us doing this with electric cars, even though I would like too....
We'll just lob engines in em lol.
Destroying all electric cars is the answer surely 😉.
The batteries will die before they get to banger age
Can live with this as it's 1975. What you saw there were also in scrapyards at that time.
Linda was a Blond, they never know what to do..!! LOL!
@@keithclark486 rewatch the video at 11:49
No cages, door not bolted shut, no door plates, bonnets not bolted down.... I fact zero safety preparation 😮😮😮
Bet on the checker taxi, Indy style.
Some of them cars would fetch a fortune today???
Back then though, nothing but a bunch of bangers
If every one saved their old cars they would not be worth much now

Very true friend of mine had 3 Mexico's all went together the scrap yard.
They did not make any trains back then
Linda would’ve fitted in well with tgb. Loves the grass
Linda got what she deserves for all that attention
All the attention was of the patronising sort . Pat on the head for the woman driver
So they're not doing the Figure 8??
Now we cross over to crown green bowl.s from skegness
*Needs a Govt health warning at the beginning of this :-) all those Farinas ....*
Proper bangers 👍

Preped em in the 90s
25 was robbed.
They should have righted the pink car and let her carry on.
This DD was featured in the 1976 film "The Banger Boys":
