Saloon Stock Car Racing 1970's & 1980's Photos
so much has happened and changed over what feels like a short time, its insane
One of the best teams of the 80/90s
Lovely photos of many legends
I raced back in the day me and Jeff Simpson had some good race swapping a lot of paint work great man just great racing
Lovely stuff!
Mk1 ,Transits ,bedfords, and mk 1 escort vans . Makes you cry . If only they knew that they were probably destroying 14k vehicles in today's money for £100 prize money 😂😂. Obviously, was scrap money back then . Remember a banger racer near me when I was a kid , back in the 80s, and he only used mk 2 escorts for racing
Ah! Todd Sweeney , Stan Ingle , Rodger Warnes , Doug McMaughn and Skid Parish . Loved them all and loved those glory years !
Proper banger photos 🙌
Join the car race
Race this is race time uwu
That’s my cousin Lee 422
RIP Arena Essex and FireCracker - one of the best meets of the year - plus at the end, you had the fireworks going on for about 45 minutes while you waited to leave in your car. Many fond memories at that place.
Propa bangers well done The Stick!
People would give their right arms for these Anglia and Morris vans today.
Love paintbrush paint jobs and love the oldskool
MK2 Jags, Austin Westminster's etc! They bring back memories!
Keep posting these please 🤙
Thanks, what great times!
I think this is from an episode of the Sweeny
At one time (1960's and 1970's) banger racing was exactly that....racing. Now its like an American DD and boring
Have you got any from Ippy easter 1980?
Proper bangers and keep them coming please
😮
The late old man chris coliver.ex world champion too.Possibly the closest banger family to wimbledon, with there garage in coliers wood.We bought terrys stockcar.
I had the pleasure of meeting Trevor and mad malc,(there still mates)at the old hq aldershot reunion at roger wilkos pub in Farnborough 30 years later. My dad was in team spedeworth vs pri both times. He was parked next to sticko at arena.Im in the photo too,age about 8 years old.My dad was 23 and raced spedeworth bangers from late 1970's into the early 1980s,then 2 litre stockcars early 1990's,when we both raced each other.I was number 54.We were both not very good in stockcars, but loved every minuite of it.Had a good chat with wilko too,and eddie george, who looks younger than he did 40 years ago.He saw me say to my dad "is that eddie george".Eddie then nodded his head, and i went and had a chat with him.All very nice drivers, all happy to tell you some old storys.Dicky dawkins was there too!.kind regards.
The best times
Carl Gallagher in the Daimler majestic hearse 🤙 Nick and Carl - absolute legends
This takes me back when my uncle ( Trevor Ford ) and Mick Frost his best mate were racing stock rods back then...my uncle has a fiat 124 and Mick had a Lancia Fulvia ...they were fantastic days....your videos bring it all back 👌👌
R.I.P Nick Linfield no 87, he liked those Austin 3 litres.
Car rolls not even a yellow 😂😂

What is that music called?? Like to know please..
What that tune called?? I've to know
Didn't he get a bit hurt in this crash.
Winter nationals meeting on new years day great times Hot RODS SALOON STOCK CARS SUPERSTOCKS BANGERS all live on World of Sport
So much better in those days. Now it seems that they mostly want to pile into each other and cause a row of cars that are wrecked beyond moving. I don't see the point in that. One thing I noticed is that most of these cars came apart due to rust.
No roll cages, no door plates... no bolting anything down ... No Harnesses....NO CRASH HELMETS 😮😮😮
I raced bangers with Spedeworth in the 70’s and crash helmets and 4 point fixing seat belts were compulsory, the rest of what you mention were optional - we were not completely mad!!
Miss the old days watching the bangers with drivers like the Red Baron, super rods micky hall, but hot rods was my favorite, Duffy collard 19, Barry lee 351, George polley 306, the brothers grimers,. Miss Wimbledon. Stadium as it was local to me. Loved all the other tracks to!
I didn't know they run figure eight over there. Good to know!
Great pics and memories, thank you for sharing.
Some 'Real' Bangers 😆😆😆😆
Some great footage 👍👍
Some great pics of better days Thanks for posting Northampton before it got ruined by shale Some other great tracks now lost Thanks for posting 😆😆😆
Mk1 Cortina RIP
The B Series engine in an Austin Cambridge could take some punishment who needs oil or water !!!!!
Greetings from northern ireland, the Ormand Christie 962 starlet brings back memories of the early 80s at Aghadowey oval
No cages, door not bolted shut, no door plates, bonnets not bolted down.... I fact zero safety preparation 😮😮😮
Some of these old cars must be hiding in barns somewhere. Would be great to see a revival
"PromoSM"
I was there as a kid with my mother! Noakes drove a few laps, stopped and rejoined a few times, supposedly to reload the on board camera, but I think he was probably giving himself a break...!
