Yeah ain’t no way that’s a professional shop the way she flat iron his hair. She never touched his roots and she did to many passes on his hair and it still was not straight. He has gorgeous hair and if done right it would’ve been handsome on him.
She styled your hair that way because she’s not used to straightening a man’s hair. If you asked for a specific style and she didn’t listen, don’t go back. Also signs of a bad hairstylist include too many passes flat ironing and not detangling properly. I’ve been to my fair share of hair salons with no issues but the last time I stepped in one was 6 years ago. The woman detangled my 4A hair with a blow dryer brush from roots to ends. I told her that was an inappropriate tool to use on kinky hair textures and that she should have detangled from ends to roots since it was a salon that many black people went to. I stopped her because she was literally ripping my hair out and she got offended. I do my own hair now. Just because people work in a salon doesn’t mean they know how to do hair.
I agree I'm puerto rican with 3c 4a hair and I go to black hair salons . only ppl that treat my hair right and because of black hair salons I learned how to properly take care of my hair. Dominican hair salons damaged my hair so bad had to do a big chop twice.

If you find the right Dominican stylist that treat you like family, they will do your hair wonders. I’ve been going to the same lady (and her daughter)[light skin but not colorist and specialize in actual black hair not just ‘mixed’ hair] for 14 years and they have me and my moms hair very healthy. Their products and techniques are 🔝
