It’s a battle of titans. Two of the most celebrated consoles in the modern gaming era, Sony’s Playstation and Microsoft’s Xbox, have been at each other's throats for a long while and that’s putting it mildly. Though Sony has often come out on top, Microsoft has never gone down easy, being the underdog in this rare situation. This has gone on for decades, starting right at the beginning of the new millennium.
Throughout the years, the two have pulled out all the stops. Microsoft has kept their eyes on taking Sony down, while Sony in turn have done all they can to keep their number one spot. Sometimes, this works and other times it ends in disaster. The rivalry still wages on, however, and with the future of the consoles still in the air, it’s important to look back and see how this all began and how it progressed throughout the years.

I myself have always been an xbox guy still am however sony did a genius move this time around where when they released the best spider man game ever to date exclusively for playstion so I did what I had to do I bought a PS4 and its not the only great game I have now uncharted, the last of us, God of war, all great games they are both great systems in the end though I will say its just good to have both atleast this time around. I would not normally buy both systems but if the games are there then you have too.
I'm an Xbox girl and have never gotten "the red ring of death" before and have had my Xbox 360 for around 5 years. I never knew that existed...

mt first console was a ps3 then when the new consoles came out i got an xbox one which i loved and had some great years of playing video games with but last year i got an ps4 mainly because all my friends play ps4 but i like both and i cant say one is better than the other its just what you like
It's okay man, I bought Xbox360 just for halo. Until it die from the red ring of death. That was my first and last Xbox. Now I just have a PC and ps4. My son got a switch thought, which I usually use for games like Zelda, pokemon, smash bro, and Mario.

I have a Xbox One and a PS3 and tbh they both are great consoles made by two very great companies
PS3 outsold 360 (despite giving Microsoft a years head start) and had many more GOTY winning exclusives. Don't even compare PS3 to Xbox One, PS3 is way, way better than that console.

Due to the amazing franchises
My dream is to buy all of the next gen consoles and play their exclusive games. Could be a nice experience. However there's not enough money and time for that so I probably will end up buying PS5(yes I am a PS fan but I am also a gamer so I miss some exclusives on XBOX and Nintendo) and after some years I'll come back to the other consoles. I also like the idea of cloud gaming and accept it but they will have to install a gaming server in every city(for low latency) so I guess we'll wait a good amount of time for that.

There's a whole video on that. It's to do with components used and power consumption causing heat. Sony improved from the original ps3 fat by using different components that didn't consume as much power and generate as much heat. Xbox did the same only started using one big fan with a big vent straight on top of the CPU instead of two or more little fans with little vents. Common sense one would think.
Let's not forget that court case with Microsoft being accused of engaging in anti-competitive practices. But that is an entirely different thing.
And the recent $6 billion court case on sony for exploiting their users or somethimg along the lines of that

At first when i was younger i used to play on the Sega then i bought the PS2 and it was amazing!(at the time it was 1 year old and i was like 9 of 8)Then the hype began for the PlayStation 3... I couldnt afford it since i didn't work myself and my dad said i needed to pay bit more then half the price. Then one day my father came home with an Xbox 360 kinect and it was amazing!(no ring of death) It was like the Wii but better! Few years later all my Friends where playing Xbox so i bought the Xbox one so i could play with them. Im old enough to see how much *BS* there is in console war, because at the end they are the same with just a few pros and cons.

I have ps4 and will always be a PlayStation player I use to have xbox 360 but I only care about exclusives so hopefully they make horizon zero dawn 2, death stranding 2, days gone 2, Spider-Man 2, the next god of war, and more.

My first console ever was the very first PlayStation! Loved it! I then moved on to the PS2 and during that time, I thought it was so badass that they could play DVDs as well! Then I don’t know why but i switched to Xbox and from then on, I chose Xbox over PlayStation. Nothing against PlayStation though! 😊
Same here, was a PS (1) owner, switched to PC gaming during the PS2 era, but was able to play on friends' PS2 and Xbox, I loved the Xbox's innovations, I missed the PS3/Xbox360 era due to college, by the end of that generation I got a Wii and a couple years later I bought a Xbox One S, which is my current console.
I really like the Xbox One's dashboard an controller, and many things about.
Even though I used to be a PS guy in the first PS generation, I ended switching and loving the Xbox.
