wow.. usually i dont like when at live a band goes crazy on the song but this is the only band where its like... yes. free flowing art goodness. hell yeah that's the way music is not only made but played out in real time.
I'm going through the entire first album - never heard it before, surprisingly enough - and listening to both the studio versions and early and late live versions on RUclips (if I can find them). I guess lots of people like how Adam wings the live versions and adds lot of other stuff, but I haven't been impressed - until this version came along.
A friend just told me he and his daughter chose this song to dance to at her wedding. At first I didn't get it, but now I do. She has been his "queen" for a very long time and he has been in "her service."
Doesn’t it? The Counting Crows have a way of eliciting emotions that are vastly more darker and deeper than the music may suggest. I’m not sure your thoughts are dark, I only know what their words say and mean. They were not writing about the good times.
Since I was 9 or 10, I’ve known that I do not want to be buried when I die. I do not want to be cremated. I have always wanted to be left in a wide open field on the top of a hill. When I first heard this song it touched me so very deeply! Render up my body into the burning heart of God in the belly of a black winged bird!!
Does anyone know where the middle interpolation lyrics come from? From the contents I'm sure its Duritz original, given the reference to the Maria/wind and Amelia, but I can't find them online. Is this an ad lib?
