You're right, that was an enormous relief. I felt like I was looking at the grief from the side, instead of being surrounded by the impossibility of it all.

Hey Damon, when you mentioned that you're overdoing it, I literally wanted to knock the screen and say that 'you going through something over and over again, with varied examples & from different angles, helps us learn with interest & helps us understand NLP on a deeper level. Especially the ones who can't buy the prog now, but want to 😉. As soon as we learn how, you're going to be a first on my list whatsoever 👏🏾
I've told myself all the things I need to do but I can't get myself motivated. It's noticeable that the word change does make a difference about how I feel about doing something. I will put this to use and I hope my way of thinking changes to where I can do something without a thought of negativity.
Hope creates another problem. Its source is hopelessness. Get clear about what's in your control and what is not. Do what is in your control and don't worry about the rest.
Thank you. It made a lot of sense to me. I tried this out loud and I did sense a difference. I will do this from now on. My question is what happens when we learn how, but still don’t do it? Example (personal example). I want to make money online; I learnt how (based on my interests and experience etc - obviously there are many), but I’m still not doing it? So, I want to do it, but I can’t; I learn to do it, but I don’t. Thanks in anticipation ❤
This is so fascinating ✨️what is the reason this works, i can feel the difference in my body and energy after doing this exercise. Is it because of the words we use, the english language? Does NLP work differently with other languages? Im new to watching your videos thank you so much!! 🤗🤗🤗🤗
💖Great post as always Damon. I have always maintained that desire is the foundation of transformation. To this end I would ask clients who long for change how much they want it. I tell them it all starts with desire - do you want it? Alright - how much do you want it? Question: is it true that what follows the word "but" negates that which was mentioned prior to it?
I have been using and teaching NLP techniques over the last five or six years. I've had trouble finding classes to go to in the Austin Tx area to become a certified coach. Do you have any recommendations?
Hi Damon, In NLP trainings we were encouraged to say "I can't ...(insert thing to learn or do here)...YET". In your view is that as good (=works as well as) saying "I can't ..(fill in blank), but I want to"? Aside from the obvious that an expressed desire may help the unconscious mind focus on that thing? It seems to me that by stating the thing I can't currently do, I have suggested it to the subconscious mind anyway. What is your view? Is there any material difference between these two, and if so what and why?
Good questions. I prefer "I can't and I want to" but my suggestion is that you test it out for yourself. How does it feel when you say each statement? Compare them. Don't necessarily go by which one feels better. Go with which one feels like it will help you get what you want. Desire is powerful. It will lead you to fulfill what you want if you focus on it. Unless you're not sure if you can't do something right now, saying you can't is just acknowledging the truth. I can't speak German, for example. It's just the truth, but I want to and I know I can learn it.
Dude, this is exactly my issue that I know I can do it but I can't do it (succeed in business) but i should, and then i beat myself up mentally and hate myself for not taking the actions that I should. So what's the solution aside from the rephrase?
I'm not quite sure what you're asking but I'll answer based on what I think you're asking. If you can't do something like I can't speak Turkish, saying "I can{ isn't going to change that or help you learn it. Saying I would like to learn Turkish leads me in the direction of learning it. If we tell ourselves we can do something that we can't do, it's a way of deceiving ourselves at its worst (affirmations) and when it's not so bad it's still inaccurate.
@@evanparcon Sometimes we struggle with positive affirmations because if we don't FEEL and BELIEVE the affirmations - meaning, they aren't currently resonating with our present identity, then our present identity screams "B.S." So, if that's the case, it's backing up the belief to a willingness or a choice to change. Or you can also frame it as a question to shift the language to shift your ability to see more possibility. Let me know if that helps...

Anything is possible with an understanding of NLP, thank you.
You're welcome. Maybe not anything, but a lot becomes possible when you learn NLP.

I was thinking that it would be useful to ask yourself if you really want that skill. I found this video very useful and a good review. Thank you! FG

This is what NLP is all about. You're literally altering your reality (map of reality) by changing a patter of your thinking through language.

Hello Damon,
Can you recommend some books for beginners please?
Thank you

Some of the early books by Steve and Connirae Andreas like Heart of the Mind is a good start.

"Conscious Language: The Logos of Now" is also super powerful for a deep dive into understanding keywords and frames.

Does the "I can do this" pattern wrong ?
I'm not quite sure what you're asking but I'll answer based on what I think you're asking. This sounds simple but it's not. I think am getting it but not quite. Lol.
So doing positive affirmations with I can is somewhat wrong here?
