    absolutely love this setup, the whole thing is like a mini eco system with the pool, then the plants on the top growing happily, i have always loves this kind of tank, it incorporates fish keeping and gardening. a total passion for the hobbyist that always provides hours of stress to setup.. :(, but 1000s of hours of sitting back with a beer and spliff and enjoying ur own little bio dome of ecology :))).. thank you 4 the vid. i really enjoyed seeing ur arowanas they are beautiful

    None of these fish look like they are distressed for lack of oxigen. If there was a problem, you would see the signs of oxigen deprivation throughout the entire tank, not just one pacu. He's looking for floating ripe fruit/ food to suck down that drop down from above. Basically that's how this boy gets between meal snacks.

    That pacu isn't gasping for air guys and gals. The gill plates would be further actuating exposed and inflamed would be seen along with other signs of stress . I'm not sure but this could be a response to a learned feeding behavior, As other people have pointed out it would not be just one fish either . The fish here are mature and and in pretty good health. They didn't get to grow old with pore care. Don't be so fast to judgment in life. It will not serve you or others well.

    Nothing wrong with the tank or the pacu. They have teeth built to eat seeds and fruit that fall out of trees. This pacu looks healthy to me. He is simply skimming the water surface......He is a big fat fish that eats a lot! Chesterton once said an expert is anyone with a briefcase more than 50 miles from home. Today it is anyone with a keyboard.

      sean coming from the typical community tank person. I think lots of smaller, much less intelligent fish are boring.

  • @ingve1974

    Fish in here are way too big. Makes the tank feel much smaller than it is.

    • @johnappice4619

      Jakel84 its not his tank its at a zoo :/

    • @sirtubemaster
      @sirtubemaster 8 лет назад +1

      +Jakel84 Not GASPING this is normal behavior for them.. those fish have plenty of oxygen! Don't judge by one or two fish at the top.....if you look at all the other fish you will see their gills are not stressed and barely moving...that is a great sign of plenty of oxygen. IF it was starving of oxygen then all their gills would be rapidly moving

    The Pacu's are gulping for oxygen NOT a good sign of healthy aeration and filtration. Plus, there is WAY too many fish for the size of aquarium there in. There should be half as many fish in this tank.

    The pacu's are gulping for oxygene, and one of the arowana's has a dropeye as mentioned... Bad way of fishkeeping, the tank is to small for some of the species!

    • @robertweller1137
      @robertweller1137 9 лет назад +12

      I'm not sure it is gulping for air due to having low oxygen. Arowna need much more oxygen than Pacu as they come from fast flowing rivers and they dont seem to be struggling. It may have been looking for food or had something else wrong with it.

      +Christian Anderson nah man , its not lacking oxygen, look at the other fishes they are just fine.
      It could be many things, gill flukes for example(most of the times its harmless), or he could have weakend gills from birth.
      Looking for food etc.
      Some of my discus and angel fish used to do that when they had gill flukes.
