Dokdo, a small island in the East Sea of Korea has always been our land, yet Japan claims otherwise alleging its territorial right to the same island we call our land. On top of that, Japanese schools teach their students with text books that contain false information on Korean history. They went so far as to mark the East Sea as Japan Sea, truly distorting the truth.
This song was first made 30 years ago in 1982 by a composer named Park Munyoung and is still loved by many Koreans. The song is filled with aspiration of Korean people, singing that Dokdo belongs to the Korean Peninsula.
As Japan continues to outrageously claim its territorial right to the Korean island, we want to reinforce the effective control over Dokdo. To this end, 12 parts of the song was revised to reflect the status quo of Dokdo issue. We are carrying out flash mobs to let the world know that Dokdo belongs to the Korean soil and to show our love and affection toward the island.
