Wushu.in Presents "Bruce Lee's Fastest Kicks Speed". Bruce Lee was well known for his speed and power. We have taken his five movies fight scenes to view clearly visible kicks. To measure the speed of the kicks we will count the time of kicking from lifting the feet off the floor until it hits the opponent.
This is our little tribute to the legendary Bruce Lee.
Bruce Lee has inspired and motivated millions of people around the world by his martial arts skills and his philosophy. Lots of martial artists learned a lot from him to improve their martial arts skills.
We hope this video will motivate martial artists around the world.

He said that he had to slow it and exaggerate in movies because his real technique isn't good for the movies. It's really too straightforward and brutally fast... No flair. It's also the opposite, what he did in the movies ain't good in real street fights. You should aim for vital organs asap. Like when you have an opponent kick his balls, gouge his eyes among other brutality... You wouldn't see him in a martial arts competition. He said in street fights there are no rules.

I saw Bruce in person do his 20 minute demonstration in DC in 1968. So much confidence and charisma and hand speed was a day I will never forget. He is everything you think he was and more. Hand speed was unbelievable and his two fingers eye jab would end a street fight very quickly.

If you hear interviews from guys who knew him, They would say way faster. He was too fast for the camera. They had to slow down the speed from 24 frames a second to 32 frames a second.

They sped the cameras up to a faster speed than 24 frames a second so they could actually catch what he did so the story goes

In the Time where Bruce Lee was alive, the Cameras were not good enough to capture Bruce's speed... If you film with Bruce you did need a Special Camera to capture his kicks and punches. It was really expensive when you film with this Legend. He was a Superhuman in his time.

Yeah, 70’s camrera’s couldn’t pick him up. Even today, it’s be hard seeing them.
Actually Cameras back then COULD handle his fastness... But the movie-norm was 25 frames per second. Slow-Motion-Cameras where invented long before Bruce Lee... If they would record his movements with Slow-Motion-Cameras, they would handle it easyly....
The norm back then also could be 60 frames per second, if they want to... But they decide it to 25 frames per second. That was a compromize, between : 'recognizable as movement for the audience' and saving money (because that way the same length of film lastet longer (more minutes)... film back then was expensive as hell, espescially movie-quality color-films).

This clip neglected to show Lee's fastest ever double kick, which was against Bob Wall in "Way Of The Dragon". It's where Lee fakes a front kick and then he switches it into a roundhouse kick. The speed on that is unbelievable.

Bruce Lee noticed that in the film his real kicks speed were too fast, the camera could not film the kicks well, so he had to kick slower
What they actually did was they slowed down the camera speed from 24 frames a second to 32 frames a second.

Idk if this was the right way to find out how fast he kicks. Bruce Lee in movies purposefully slowed down his kicks in his movies so that the video can capture his movements and it can be viewed by the audience.
As Bruce Lee is no more so only options left for us to use the videos he had. Secondly the purpose to take movies scenes is because these are the only recordings that had clear views. There we can check the kick lifting from ground until it hits the opponent. Some other demo videos of Bruce Lee in some stage performance and Stadium performance are either not clear or on high speed done purposely by video publisher. We also agree that Bruce Lee speed was faster than these recorded videos for movies.
I also like to add that as much information I have at the time of shooting of fight scenes they were recording bruce lee kicks at the speed of 60fps (i.e. 60 frames per seconds) instead of the normal speed of the camera (i.e. 30fps). So after recording it in 60fps, they convert it into 30fps so it comes to a natural speed. The purpose of recording at 60fps is to record his speed movement clear and visible. Recording at 30fps was blurred. So, I think it had a very slight difference in speed recording.
And so he didn't actually injure the actors.
They slowed down the Cameras to capture his kick but they would now have to speed up the camera to show his real speed
