    Hrm. The gesture is the next chair i'm going to pull the trigger on when there is a sale.. I don't mind that there isn't as much flexibility with the Gesture.. The arms look great but I have ulnar nerve issues. The seat pad not being as comfortable is a concern. When I tested just the top half of the leap chair.. It feels so small and I didn't feel like i had enough shoulder support. 6"3 260. (chair is for my SO. BTOD sent the wrong chair) I'll get to fully test out the lamia tomorrow.

      @btodtv  6 месяцев назад

      The arms on the Gesture should get a bit wider if your concern was fit, but as far as back is concerned, the Leap is a bit wider through the top. So if you were concerned on shoulders, the Gesture will be narrower than the Leap at the top.

      @@btodtv Hey Greg. I received the lamia chair today (the checklist marked the wrong chair again but the right chair was in the box) width isn't a huge issue. It's a great chair very comfortable. The back just isn't tall enough and the lower back support seemed weak even at it's tightest setting (maybe i needed to adjust more).. The deal breaker for me is I like that upper shoulder support. I lean back into my chair. I'm thinking the gesture with headrest is the way to go. BTW the SO loves the chair it fits her perfectly at 5'9 it's replacing a 15 year old Aeron. Thank you for the videos. It really helps out a LOT!

    I like the Leap as an office chair. I wish the arms went higher because I'm tall, and I wish it had a headrest for naps, but it's a great chair still.

      How tall are you? And is there no way of having a headrest on the Leap? I like watching movies sometimes on my pc and I lean the chair back and use the headrest when watching movies. The Leap not having a headrest is the only thing preventing me from buying it.

    Suggesting no headrest on the Gesture is criminal, that and the arms are the only things that make that chair tolerable, otherwise the Leap is so much better. Banks seem to like Gestures, hospitals seem to like Amias, and for home usage most physicians seem to pick Leaps or Aerons, not sure the methodology on that one.

      Microsoft HQ Netherlands has Gestures all over the place as well
      Got the Gesture myself as well simply because I need a good chair with a good headrest. I've never tried Leap but I think the chances are Leap is indeed a bit more comfortable than the Gesture if you don't need a headrest. Leap seems to cradle you a bit more than Gesture for better comfort, the Gesture definitely does not feel like it's cradling me which I sometimes miss. I'm still satisfied with my Gesture's comfort overall, but if I could try a Leap with a Gesture-headrest, I'd probably prefer that.

      i sit cross legged in gesture, pretty sure i'd struggle to do that in leap. I agree on the headrest, its an absolute must.

      Looks as though I stumbled into the rich ppl's channel. 🤑
      Jk. But $300, just for a headrest? That's some serious price gouging. And they wonder why gamers prefer gaming chairs. And seriously - who twists like that in a chair? 🤣
      BTW, gamers impress with their skills; not by how expensive a chair they can afford. Also, most gamers can't afford these chairs, which are not designed for how gamers sit and play.
      Again, jk. 😄

      Agree, the headrest is one of the best things about the Gesture. The arms are overrated, they move way too easy, have to constantly move them back where I want them. Haven't tried the Leap yet but I'm going to.

    • @Lucas-f7k
      @Lucas-f7k Месяц назад

      He suggested the headrest on the Gesture, said no to the Leap, think you got that one confused. Also called out the arms being too easy to move when you don't want them too on the Gesture which is spot on. I haven't tried the Leap yet so can't comment on which is better but his positives and negatives on the Gesture are legit from my experience.

    What if I don't ever need to adjust my arms aside from up or down? My current chair has 4 way function and I haven't used it even once in the span of 7+ years of using it and it's only a neusance because if I bump into it I have to move it back in place.

    I own a gesture with headrest, since I'm in Colombia, returning it is not an option and re-selling it is a looooooooong-shot. Since it was such an expensive buy I think I'll be stuck with it for the next 7 years... I really wanted to love it, but it's not comfortable for me 😢. If anyone is on the market for these kinds of chairs I'll give you my two cents, tested the Haworth Fern and didn't like it because the seat-pad was too stiff. Tested the Herman Miller Embody and wasn't blown away by it but it was the comfiest, nevertheless the lack of head rest steered me away from it... If I can recommend anything for someone who likes working lounging back in a more relaxed position, try the embody and if you need a headrest just buy the Atlas Headrest, instead of going for the gesture.

      You sound like you have a chair problem like me. LOL. I didn't like my Fern at all, sold it. I have a Leap and an Embody and just got a Humanscale Freedom last weekend. I think the Leap is the best overall chair out there but the Freedom so far has been very comfortable, the headrest is truly top tier. I would say the arms are cool but don't go up high enough and the build quality not as good as my Leap or Embody. The Embody I love some days and hate others. It would be a better chair with thicker padding to me. Best recline by far though and truly needs a headrest. If you can find a Freedom I highly recommend trying it out. I like the Fabric on my Embody better than the Freedom but the fabric on my Leap is better than both by a lot, tempted to reupholster the Freedom in Leap fabric.

    Is the Leap v2 fabric breathable?
    I'm trying to avoid chairs that make me warm, hence why I don't like the gaming Embody, and prefer the standard one with the balance fabric.
    Nothing beats the Aeron when it comes to breathability, but I don't want another mesh chair.

    I bought the leap, returned it after a week due to lower back pain, bought the gesture and still have tailbone pain. Leap felt rigid but I do find myself missing the leap. Removing the lumbar makes the leap better

    • @StardustLegacyFighter
      @StardustLegacyFighter 5 месяцев назад +3

      Have you tried the Amia?
      Most ppl who experience tailbone pain with the Leap v2's seat tend to prefer the Amia' seat.
      Or you could get the best of both worlds with the Lamia.

      @@MetalsForBrunchI have an Aeron, but I did have several physiotherapy sessions to fix muscle knots in my back.
      Yes, the Aeron didn't magically fix my back pain, but it damn well supports my back when I'm working or gaming at my desk.
      I think it's important to have realistic expectations when buying these chairs, instead of buying into marketing hype.

    Hi, I would like to know your opinion on the purchase of my next chair. If you had the opportunity to buy the Steelcase Gesture without headrest and the Colamy Atlas for the same price ($250), which one would be the better choice? I am about 5.5 to 5.7 feet tall. Thanks

      This isn’t a fair criticism of BTOD- I’ve tested over a dozen ergo chairs- all of the top of the line in most popular configs, and while I like the gesture more than the leap v2 I’m in the minority for sure.
      Why wouldn’t they promote a more affordable chair that is also more common and honestly more adjustable?
      And if you want that Amia seatpan for the lamia, just order a replacement pan from BTOD (or Crandall). Can’t speak for BTOD But Crandall will give you money back if you return the old seat pan- and there are options for a revitalized OEM SEAT as well as a new, thicker version.
      Ryan goes into depth as to why BTOD Sticks with the OEM version on Reddit- if you can find it from about 18 months ago it’s a great read…but like I said criticism for their v2 rec here is unfounded in my experience even though I’m team gesture
