I have bought about three fakes in the last two years with zero effs given because of my not being able to attain them at retail.
If you can’t obtain a pair of sneakers after entering multiple raffles only for resell to be over triple the retail value then I can understand. I don’t care if someone else wears reps/fakes as long as they’re honest about it.
I personaly never bought fake sneakers but my favorite sneaker right now are the Fragment Travis Scott Low, i tried to buy from SNKRS and took an L as per usal, now my thinking is, why would i pay 2k for a pair from some one who took that oportunity from me by using Bots and i dont care that they are hyped, Fragment or Travis Scott i simply like them! Now give an huge amount of profit to some one that i feel that stole from me the opportunity to buy them from Nike at a reasonable price to me makes no sense!
Almost every shoe now is like it's limited, because of resalers and the way you have to buy them like raffles etc. Used to be if I tried to get a shoe and didn't get it, usually I got the next one.
I wouldn’t consider myself a sneaker head but I like and appreciate nice shoes. imma buy what can afford and it got to be real. If not I have no business going after it. 💯
I get Welty's point on people now talking about "new things" in terms of different brands. But as Dekovic was saying last week, sneaker culture currently isn't interested in "innovation," just retro Jordans, new colours for existing models, and bringing 90s shoes back. Yeezy models (not the 300 colourways) were at least new, innovative models. Who's moving the needle now? It's stagnant.
I don’t really get how Brenden can take a moral stance on not wearing Yeezy or Tom Sach shoes, but continue to wear sneakers that were produced from low waged, poor working conditions manufacturing in China. Either care across the board on products that you consume and take a moralistic stance with everything or just don’t care at all Picking and choosing when and where to care in terms of ethics is 1st world world problems
I’d never knowingly buy and wear fake shoes personally I’d rather get the real thing or move on to the next obtainable real shoe. At the same time while I don’t care if others wear fakes don’t go passing them off as real…..
I feel both joe and Welty on the Nike Id. Joe I have had the same problems because there’s sooooo many options to narrow it down. And also you’ll brought me right on back to the good old days with multiple and some s1 and s2 products. Loves it
When you buy fakes you’re still representing/advertising those big brands, you’re just doing it in a counterfeit way. I think Louis Vuitton shoes look really dope, but I can’t afford them so I don’t wear em, I don’t have to wear the replica. Make your own style, not everything you buy has to be hyped or expensive, or give the appearance of it.
I was thinking of the best way to defend my comrades when it comes to this topic. Luckily, a fellow sneaker head RUclipsr dropped a video today, it’s by “Rose Anvil” and the title to his video is “We Busted Nike LYING about “Premium” Blazer”. Cheers :)
It’s ok to wear fakes if you like the shoe. Paying hundreds or thousands of dollars on resale for Travis or off white or even simple Jordans is insane . But if you wear fake to impress someone then that’s wrong . Like wearing fake balenciagas , LV etc .
If the quality of original sneakers ( mainly nike) , will get worse it will be even more acceptable to wear reps. When i look at the toebox of my A ma Maniere 4’s i would be angry even paying retail ( and i paid resell ).
1. they cheaper. 2. they available to purchase. 3. quality is basically the same. 4. they look the same. 5. I'm too grown to care on being 'called-out'. You spend your thousands on auths, in your mom's house; I'll spend my thousands on property.
Resellers, "Sneaker Boutiques" etc f*cked it up for everyone. All the price gouging is ridiculous. If you want to cop 1:1 or AAA quality reps, go ahead. No judgement here 💯 .. I got skin in the game since '87.. first pair copped (with my own bread) was the NIKE Air Windrunner lol
I have a few reps. Like 7 pair, and I've gotten just as excited when they've arrived. And I tell all my people exactly where I got em. If a stranger comments then I tell them I can get them a pair for cheap. Some are intrigued and some walk away. Either way I don't care. They look very good. It ain't got nothing to do with being "cool' fool. Not for me. I just like them. There shoes
It’s not that complicated. Y’all think it’s about flexing. Some people just love the style of shoe and can’t afford to play this classist resell game when you can get them for a reasonable price from the same factories using the same materials. You guys are from an era where it was all about shaming people, this generation doesn’t care about that
We need to see you guys in a Kukini on air before Nike ever considers bringing back the Citizen or any other "'they should bring that back' quips. Although Fragment Citizens would go hard.
Counterfeits are inherently disrespectful to any hobby. Because the only way you can justify buying fakes on purpose is if you look at the hobby in a dismissive and reductive way. No different than telling a baseball card collector that you “saved money” printing replica cards and “it’s all just paper plastic and ink” and “as long as it looks the same that’s all that matters” smh. The fact you can wear Jordans doesn’t change its status as a collectible product worth more than just raw materials.
Y’all let reseller fk up the game and then get upset of the result no body is paying extra because someone else knows how to bot a shoe there are shoes that should be sitting in stores that don’t anymore you have to pay a premium even on bricks these days.
Got fake sb4s from ebay, 400 no authentication, came in a month later, shoe box in ups bag all beat up. Opened the box to see two stock x papers, one was supposed to be a sticker im guessing it didnt peel, shoe had the st.x tag on the wrong foot and the shoe smelled way worse than the real one. First thinf i noticed was the grey suede on the toe was huge, the netting for the tongue was wider by almost 2cm, i got the sb4 wides lol perfect for my foot honestly but the materials are definitely not the same, almost looks the same though. Blacklight shows all the marking for the stitches, white paint on the bottom peeled first wear to the grocerie store and the crease is wonky and harsh, the real ones I wore twice creased straight across very lightly. Took pics before i wore them and ebay gave my money back about a week later so i got free fakes to turf out.
Kick game so properrrrr ! Knew this was going to be interesting ! I agree on the Melo topic, the 2’s were just it for sure. Honestly for me, if I can’t afford the real thing, I won’t buy it until I can. Coming up in this game, you got clowned for having fakes. Would never do it. Amazing episode guys !
Joe, you were talking about fake bags, that’s different, also clothing to a certain extend : sneakers has also tecnology in it so fake one could be uncomfortable or even bad give you back pain, meanwhile a fake bag or fake shirt has no tecnology in it so in my opinion bags and clotes are ok but sneakers it’s a big no.
I’m 40yo…. When I grew up you had to wait in line for hype sneakers, if you didn’t get them you just didn’t… in my 20s we would have plugs at different shoe stores that you paid to secure your pair if it was a very popular shoe…. When I was around 30 the resale market messed the game up for people like me who bought shoes to wear them!…. This is how the replica game took off… for people who aren’t hype heads or resellers that just want to buy shoes to wear them! I’m not paying $1000s for a shoe that cost less than $50 to make a retailed for $150 just because some people consider them “hype”…. So yes… I’ll pay $200 for a rep of a shoe that I genuinely like and would have bought anyway for retail… especially if the rep is virtually the same
its hurts to hear the praise that JD sports gets from does from you guys. JD sports here in the UK at least are hated. their business model is simple, own the high street which as a result involves killing off independent businesses ( mom and pop stores in the us) in order to make huge profit but in the process taking the soul out of the high street as these hard working independent footwear and clothing businesses cant compete and are forced to close their doors. JD sports are ruthless in their pursuit of making money they dont care about the community or about what that specific impact that small store might have on a customer or owner as they literally cant compete with such a retail juggernaut setting up 5 stores in one particular location. I hope at some point new balance or nike for example look to have accounts at small businesses to bring back that authentic footwear retail experience.
Fake Sneakers: I totally get why some people go that route and defend it. For the casual consumer that only buys 2-3 pairs of sneakers a year, I get it. They just want the sneaker to wear and bypass any hoops and hurdles to get a shoe. However, I personally as an avid sneaker consumer that purchases 5-6 sneakers a month on average, I can’t do that. The reason why I buy/collect/trade sneakers is the thrill of the chase/hunt itself. I get more satisfaction of making trade deals or or favors with other collectors via assists or saving up for a particular shoe because it didn’t release in my geographical market etc than when I finally do cop it. Thus, if I was to simply bypass all that and cop a fake, what would be the point then? It would be like cheating or lying to yourself. Why would I do that l? That’s just me though.

I have over 30 pairs of reps and they’re basically retail to me
I personaly never bought fake sneakers but my favorite sneaker right now are the Fragment Travis Scott Low, i tried to buy from SNKRS and took an L as per usal, now my thinking is, why would i pay 2k for a pair from some one who took that oportunity from me by using Bots and i dont care that they are hyped, Fragment or Travis Scott i simply like them! Now give an huge amount of profit to some one that i feel that stole from me the opportunity to buy them from Nike at a reasonable price to me makes no sense!
Yup..resellers are trash. They claim to give back to the community, however, will charge you over retail.
Almost every shoe now is like it's limited, because of resalers and the way you have to buy them like raffles etc. Used to be if I tried to get a shoe and didn't get it, usually I got the next one.
Putting reps in display cases as if you have a valuable sneaker collection, should be a felony.
I wouldn’t consider myself a sneaker head but I like and appreciate nice shoes. imma buy what can afford and it got to be real. If not I have no business going after it. 💯
We need more people like you
I get Welty's point on people now talking about "new things" in terms of different brands.
Either care across the board on products that you consume and take a moralistic stance with everything or just don’t care at all
Picking and choosing when and where to care in terms of ethics is 1st world world problems
I agree with Welty that the one's who get the most upset about the rep sneaker convo are the NFT profile pic accounts. 😂😂😂
What if people wear fake air mags because they are fans of Back To The Future and could care less about shoes?
I’d never knowingly buy and wear fake shoes personally I’d rather get the real thing or move on to the next obtainable real shoe. At the same time while I don’t care if others wear fakes don’t go passing them off as real…..
No Simpsons joke could ever be too deep, please bring all the deep Simpsons cuts and we will always respect it haha
I feel both joe and Welty on the Nike Id. Joe I have had the same problems because there’s sooooo many options to narrow it down. And also you’ll brought me right on back to the good old days with multiple and some s1 and s2 products. Loves it
I am shocked the palace new balances were so slept on and went under the radar
I managed to get a w on the purple ones as I love purple so looking forward to rocking those for the gym
@@laurenf4407 price too high and too funky of a colorway
@@A_78939 price too high?!? And there’s people paying over $2000 for limited editions. You be tripping. Purple colour way is fire

Did he really say “not everyone is entitled” to have a certain shoe? Lol sure, bud.
Complex keep doing ya thing with the podcast vlogs for love watching them 💯💯💯👍👍👍
If the quality of original sneakers ( mainly nike) , will get worse it will be even more acceptable to wear reps. When i look at the toebox of my A ma Maniere 4’s i would be angry even paying retail ( and i paid resell ).
Its a sneaker you wear them and buy them bec you like it . People buy “fakes” bec the resell market is ridiculous
Not a single good point made against reps here…talking about “retail” being 30k 😂😂
Double pointing in the Rickey Henderson replica Mizuno batting gloves was wild.
1. they cheaper.
2. they available to purchase.
3. quality is basically the same.
4. they look the same.
These guys have no life and I'm so glad Not Tripping just putting these Complex guys on blasts for their hypocrisy of this topic, lol.
Same reason fake sneaker heads have a podcast
35:35 all the small things 😂
I have a few reps. Like 7 pair, and I've gotten just as excited when they've arrived. And I tell all my people exactly where I got em. If a stranger comments then I tell them I can get them a pair for cheap. Some are intrigued and some walk away. Either way I don't care. They look very good. It ain't got nothing to do with being "cool' fool. Not for me. I just like them. There shoes
I need the plug 😎
🤡
Why is JLP dressed like it's the dead of winter?
It’s not that complicated. Y’all think it’s about flexing. Some people just love the style of shoe and can’t afford to play this classist resell game when you can get them for a reasonable price from the same factories using the same materials. You guys are from an era where it was all about shaming people, this generation doesn’t care about that
Should have done the Nike Vomero 5 bowerman neon green trainers would have matched the gloves effortlessly
Love that model
Bro if someone can explain the difference I would greatly appreciate it.
Complex sneaker vlogs keep them coming 💯💯💯😊👍👍👍
Get that 75 year old granddad who I've seen Pinterest who copes celebraties style outfits. I think he'd be a top guest
Don’t worry about what people do with their money
Watching JLP build his cadence and get more stylish every episode is interesting.
Really turning into a personality.
No but love the episode great way to start my mornings on Friday all I watch is FSR and CSP not cable round here boyyyyyy
We need to see you guys in a Kukini on air before Nike ever considers bringing back the Citizen or any other "'they should bring that back' quips. Although Fragment Citizens would go hard.
Its funny cuz most of the people that wear fake shoes would roast someone for wearing a fake rolex lol
Gotta size 13 in the 270 Cactus for $240 and they are awesome. So comfortable
When I see somebody wearing a Travis Scott or Off White I always assume its fake anyways
I think it matters if your a collector, and don’t wear them. But if your going to beat them get reps
100%
Counterfeits are inherently disrespectful to any hobby. Because the only way you can justify buying fakes on purpose is if you look at the hobby in a dismissive and reductive way. No different than telling a baseball card collector that you “saved money” printing replica cards and “it’s all just paper plastic and ink” and “as long as it looks the same that’s all that matters” smh. The fact you can wear Jordans doesn’t change its status as a collectible product worth more than just raw materials.
Just wear the real thing bruh. Don’t be scared of wearing expensive shoes
@@historianofmanythings4294 It's called being smart. If you want to throw money away, that's on you bro. It's a free country
@@settledown5392 then don’t get the shoe if ur scared lol. Just get a cheaper alternative or save ur money
Seem like someone buy passed the shipping process
Kick game so properrrrr !
Knew this was going to be interesting !
I agree on the Melo topic, the 2’s were just it for sure.
Honestly for me, if I can’t afford the real thing, I won’t buy it until I can. Coming up in this game, you got clowned for having fakes. Would never do it.
Amazing episode guys !
Those Travis look like a Stadium 90
Let people spend their money how they want… point blank period…their just shoes when it’s all over
Joe, you were talking about fake bags, that’s different, also clothing to a certain extend : sneakers has also tecnology in it so fake one could be uncomfortable or even bad give you back pain, meanwhile a fake bag or fake shirt has no tecnology in it so in my opinion bags and clotes are ok but sneakers it’s a big no.
Maybe cause the bots and resellers buy them all and people cant even get a general release for retail
Fake Sneakers:
I totally get why some people go that route and defend it.
3:17 PAUSEEE
"We've seen enough of this", "we've seen enough of that" says the guy that usually salivates over another pair of grey NBs
JLP is THE MAN OF THE PEOPLE!!! Real broke boy self report on brendan and welty for their views on the rep game. Mr. "Wear what you want" Welty: "but not reps". Brendan "I'll never be satisfied" needs to step up his self esteem game. F SNKRS, F RESELLERS, F the "sneaker economy", same shoes being made in the same Chinese factory. It's not about the hype it's about colorways and not about "cool shoes" it's about the shoes. Also Preacher Welty needs to read up about judgement while speaking on the pulpit
Serious question: do people wear nice clothes/ shoes to impress others or y’all just like to look nice and be stylish?
tbh both...i get fly for myself and it's cool to get props but if not who cares?
I mean practically both but personally it's more for me and just rocking stuff that express myself and what i like
i aim to antagonise others with my outfit choices
0:14 👁 don't know why when I watch the show and there is the usual shoe check I want to put on a pair of my holy grail unworn sneakers
The Topic begins @ 45:03
Wish I saw this earlier. My god.
$120-$220 is my price range. Outside of that (resell), I can't afford $500 pairs of shoes
I also would have anxiety wearing something that expensive so I'll buy a rep of a shoe I fell in love with before it dropped and I took my L on SNKRS
Wear fakes if that’s what you want, don’t resell em as real though… that’s just bad karma
1:46 Dunn has definitely never felt the grippy grippy 🤣🤣
Is buzzfeed going to support complexcon in November? The people want answers
Fake sneakers: The biggest threat to polite society in the free world 😂
Sneaker collection’s and most never wear them, it’s worst than women collecting purses.
46:30 Not a good comparison for scale. Getting fake chicago 1s compared to getting fake air mags is very different
Def was thinking about buying some OG tailwind 4s today
i can understand te number of the podcast by Welty reciting hairline
Hopefully with the world disliking the YZY reselling we'll get more models in this parts of the world RSA 🇿🇦.
I’ll rock replicas all day, people are not willing to get there heads knocked off from resell, replica factories are getting too good. Save your money and get them UA’s
