Option 1. buy a pair of sneakers from a reseller (stock x, goat, ebay, ect) and pay 2, 3, 4, 5 times or more the amount over retail price and NOT have the guarantee that they are authentic.
Option 2. Buy fakes, save yourself a bunch of money and have a pair that might be the same exact pair you will get from a reseller ( stock x goat ebay ect).
To me the answer is very clear.
If i cant buy from the retailers. i wont buy and pay resell, i dont care what people think.

There are 100s of Really Good, Historically Significant, Culturally Connected sneakers available on resale platforms for retail price.... people who pay way above retail either only want the shoe cause its limited or are chasing hype. You’d be surprised how many famous athletes rock the reps.
Personally, I feel if you genuinely appreciate the aesthetic of a design, there’s no issue with wearing the reps. They’re all cheap mass produced items, rep or retail. T they have a very low intrinsic value.
Nike purposefully puts a bottleneck on supply with their SNKRS app. They allow backdooring and love the reselling culture. It guarantees they sell out of their stock. It’s a genius business practice.
At the end of the day - who cares? The fella on the left seems to be worrying about other people’s self-confidence or lack thereof, whilst simultaneously judging them. Wear whatever you want - they’re all 10 dollar shoes, to be worn.

I have never hit on anything remotely limited on snkrs and some of those shoes i just really wanted for myself (not for others) because i loved the design and colors. I have bought about three fakes in the last two years with zero effs given because of my not being able to attain them at retail.

I don’t really get how Brenden can take a moral stance on not wearing Yeezy or Tom Sach shoes, but continue to wear sneakers that were produced from low waged, poor working conditions manufacturing in China. Either care across the board on products that you consume and take a moralistic stance with everything or just don’t care at all
Picking and choosing when and where to care in terms of ethics is 1st world world problems

Got fake sb4s from ebay, 400 no authentication, came in a month later, shoe box in ups bag all beat up. Opened the box to see two stock x papers, one was supposed to be a sticker im guessing it didnt peel, shoe had the st.x tag on the wrong foot and the shoe smelled way worse than the real one. First thinf i noticed was the grey suede on the toe was huge, the netting for the tongue was wider by almost 2cm, i got the sb4 wides lol perfect for my foot honestly but the materials are definitely not the same, almost looks the same though. Blacklight shows all the marking for the stitches, white paint on the bottom peeled first wear to the grocerie store and the crease is wonky and harsh, the real ones I wore twice creased straight across very lightly. Took pics before i wore them and ebay gave my money back about a week later so i got free fakes to turf out.

When you buy fakes you’re still representing/advertising those big brands, you’re just doing it in a counterfeit way. I think Louis Vuitton shoes look really dope, but I can’t afford them so I don’t wear em, I don’t have to wear the replica. Make your own style, not everything you buy has to be hyped or expensive, or give the appearance of it.

    Fake Sneakers:
I totally get why some people go that route and defend it. For the casual consumer that only buys 2-3 pairs of sneakers a year, I get it. They just want the sneaker to wear and bypass any hoops and hurdles to get a shoe.
However, I personally as an avid sneaker consumer that purchases 5-6 sneakers a month on average, I can’t do that. The reason why I buy/collect/trade sneakers is the thrill of the chase/hunt itself. I get more satisfaction of making trade deals or or favors with other collectors via assists or saving up for a particular shoe because it didn’t release in my geographical market etc than when I finally do cop it. Thus, if I was to simply bypass all that and cop a fake, what would be the point then? It would be like cheating or lying to yourself. Why would I do that l? That’s just me though.

Counterfeits are inherently disrespectful to any hobby. Because the only way you can justify buying fakes on purpose is if you look at the hobby in a dismissive and reductive way. No different than telling a baseball card collector that you “saved money” printing replica cards and “it’s all just paper plastic and ink” and “as long as it looks the same that’s all that matters” smh. The fact you can wear Jordans doesn’t change its status as a collectible product worth more than just raw materials.

  • @stevemoneybags9498

The problem with most rep heads is they are constantly contradicting themselves or flat out lying. They say they’re smart and saving money, but they spend even more on dozens of reps. They say they aren’t just thirsty hype beasts with FOMO. Yet they never buy sneakers that aren’t hype. They say they’re upfront about wearing reps. Yet they display their collections in cases like they’re real. They say they would never try to sell their fakes. Yet people get scammed buying fakes all the time. They say, they’re made in the same factory. They’re not.
