What I like about Total War is that they r so realistic. Check this out. 2:42, look for the horse falling over. 8:25, start looking at the right side, toward the center, the guy just ninja another guy.

In the context of showing tactical skill you would not say that the army was edited, because it would mean that it could have give the player an advantage that would be unfair like... Ninja units of that size! This video was made for fun of being absurd with a delta formation and Ninja. If I was a General in TW, my trait would be Modesty, As for my others trait, check them on my 1k+ videos

I like how the player just decided to stand there for a couple minutes. The coversation was probably: "General, we can see enemy forces on the horizon!" "We're fine... don't worry about it." "General, we are being flanked!" "We're fiiiiiinnnnnnnneeeeee." "General, they are attacking on both sides, and are headed toward you right now!" "Well, okay, send one group horsemen to aid the troops, they'll be fine..."
this is a battle that were the units were modified for the purpose of the recording. So normally you will never have such of a big unit of kisho ninja.
@Foucause27 yeah delta formation is under used because people don't understand the principle of it. But while i'm using this formation, i didn't use much of it's potential due to my laziness of the moment...
@nafaidni they were blinded and charged by my troops in the flank. what is important isn't the number charging but the timing of the charge. then you get a contagious panic that spread from unit to unit.
@laminater lol that does get asked a lot. It's called a horo, a sort of Silk cape if you could call it that, it served as a defense against Arrows. As rediculous as they look, they were actually quite efective. The reason they were placed in the game though was to easily identify your general becuase a lot of the units is shogun 2 look very similar.
I liked how you did your formation for your troops, but as i watched 7 mins in the video i realized that you could've had finished the battle 3 mins ago because if you had utilized all of your troops and did a much more effective Defense/Assualt you could had won. Then i realized you were to preoccupied making the Vid and capturing the fights, so in the end i wasnt disappointed more like glad you were showing a Gameplay that i wanted to see in the beginning to buy the game. =D
@Snake13042 well in this battle the ninja units are a little... over scaled. normally the ninja units won't be as big as you saw in this videos. They actually are pretty weak again most units and their main advantage is those blinding bombs.
@VidGameMaster117 The thing is when they were not in battle the would wear them around a bamboo cage so they kept the round shape. However in battle they apparently took out the cage and the wind would billow the silk material out into a small parachute shape. In game though they look as though they wear them with the cage inside.
@Sourushurakku well it could be related to the fact that it take a while for keys to get activated on steam. I'm install it at the moment. Ill see if i can play soon.
Maybe, if we were talking about a single planet. But look at the entirety of the galaxy, thousands of stars exist, with even more planets orbiting them. place down a tiny cup, and toss a hundred marbles at once, one or two of them are bound to land in the tiny cup.
Only thing I would have done differently; AS SOON as those blues comit to that frontal block assault, use that point as the axis to open up the two arms of your triangle and swing them right around into the flanks (like a giant bear trap). Once their cavalry are routed, bring your two units of horsemen to flank from the right whilst bringing in your ninjas on the left flank. Pretty much the same result but much quicker, as you seemed to dally a lot at the beginning :P

Looks a lot more reliant on flanking maneuvers and attacking the right things with the right troops. I like the whole napth bomb tactic with the ninjas before the charge to make it that much more fearsome. I remember in the first shogun how they used to throw a volley of ninja stars before charging in.
@otomotopia1 you should attack one side of the triangle with all your troops and when he is forced to reinforce the other side you smack him in the back with your cavalry
@huynherexpress they are protection against arrows and not they were not in the original shogun, i just how we will be able to remove those things. I don't like my general to look silly. =P
@wintersnoob it is called "horo", or "mother vest" literally. You can check it on wikipedia. It was used by samurai cavalry to defend against arrow from the back. It was not as widely used as the game suggests though, and look sorta stupid at times : P I guess mods without horo would come out some time : 3
@Beinggreatfull You have many options. At the lower end you have the GTX 550 Ti or the Radeon HD6770 around roughly US$130. If you want to go up a bit, you have the GTX 460 which are slightly better than the GTX 550 Ti and can be found for cheap. For around $160 you can find the Radeon HD6850. For around $200, you can get a GTX 560 Ti which would give the best performance. All those cards are going to be able to run the game, the more expensive ones will usually will be able to do it better.
*When I say the more expensive cards run the game better, I mean in the little list I made. If you want to message me with specific questions or a price range, feel free to. There are cheaper options around $100 but I wouldn't recommend them.
@craphunter ahh ok, well i heard somewhere that you will be able to set the number of units. now I'm not sure if that me the amount of troop in the units, or the number of units in an army.
I would say the reason why you hardly ever see a delta formation is because it's extremely vulnerable on the 3 corners... And also, your archers can not be used to full effect.
Well that certainly could've gone better. If you want some advice (although I'm sure you don't) panels like that should always be in FRONT of your army not behind, Ninja should always be used at night they're much more effective and when your enemy gets clustered like that, if you can use fire arrows, do.
@entidade1000 and @ZombifiedGod,those things are called Horo(i guess),those are not bag or balloons,those are made of some type of bamboo and yes,samurai use it to block arrows from reaching their spines
Thumbs up if u got sick of Nobunaga's ambition 8 months ago and wondered if it had a game where u can see a real japanese army battle and control it closely, and now you sudenly discovered Shogun 2 from ashes. Thx SEGA.
@SalexeSAE The problem is those frontline archers usually have yari(spear) units behind them ready to charge or create a spear wall when there's a cavalry trying to cut them down, and archers can run back to middle or back while the charging cavalry will be met with spear points. I use this kind of strategy during my M:TW time, usually enemy AI fall for it.
To all of you asking about "can this be run on *insert hardware here* " I recommend you go to google, type in "Can You Run It?" and click the first link...then select Shogun2 Total War from the drop down menu, and it will tell you. That's...a lot of Ninja
@Jammydodger58 ashigaru armies are not that bad because they have number. But if you want to follow the ashigaru path you need a general that boost moral. I defeated some enemies with ashigaru armies just to try it out and it work. especially when you have the -10% retainer.
@CatalinD88 That's why I said graphics aside. Orignial Rome's interface and game play were ultimately more fun in my opinion. Between M2TW and RTW I've clocked 1000 hours. Empire, around 300, Napoleon 70 and Shogun 2 50. I would much rather they just take Rome as is right now and improve the AI and just make it a more in depth experience than use what they've been using for Empire, Napoleon and Shogun 2.
@Attila16 im not sure about napoleon but in empire you can only set a large amount or small amount which ruins skirmish for me, what i meant to say was can you set number wise, how much money you have to your units like in rome total war or medieval 2 total war? P.S sorry i didnt make it clear last time
@Jammydodger58 well actually being a lvl 10 myself... facing a lvl 2 is kinda challenging if he is good. The reason is, my general cost 1800. That drain a lot of resources away from my army. This mean that a lvl 2 can have much more troops then me and flank my smaller army. So my advice to you is... when facing a lvl 10 try to get as many units as possible and make sure that your general is protected. If you manage to encircle him and you don't lose you general. It's an easy win.

This looks way cooler than Empire: Total War even though I love the Revolutionary timeperiod. I don't know if my PC can handle this one but even if it could I would want a better video card so I could watch the sword fights up close like that.

Seeing the lack of flanking manoeuvres in a total war battle make me sad. First of all, the player simply point and click units to attack other without aligning them to attack their rear (yeah yeah inuendo I know) and charge them, while a horse units (well, this is mostly from my experience from M:TW) are mostly charge and run back unit, so charge their rear with horses, pull back charge again, repeat until everyone start running (their team, not ours). sigh, so many inuendo :(
@jurdao14785 well u have to hold a shield there for effecting your ability to fight whereas the "ballons" are handsfree.. also there manly for hails of arrow fire
@Kaampper Well I haven't gotten ninjas myself yet so I'm not 100% sure if what I'm saying is accurate, but the developers have said many times that they've made it so that conditions on the battlefield (like time of day) would have an effect on your army. If that's true then Ninjas would naturally be more effective at night.
well i suppose that what got you the fight was the fact that u got their general otherwise they wouldn't have any reason to flee...so the ninja sliced and diced through archers cavalry katana samurai everything i suppose thats why the unit only brings you 40 ninjas or something like that :P
@Attila16 Actually that explains why they route so easily compared to M2TW ...They already march into battles thinking that they can use the balloons and have fun flying just like kids,thisalso explains why they are to help against arrows since its harder for arrows to hit them(air resistance) and even if they hit them with the arrows your mr. balloon troops will fall right in the rear of the enemy and you'll sorround them.Thats a good strategy lol Oh cmn samurais were sppsd to be of mx.honor!

It's a horo,type of garment worn by samurai to protect from arrow shot from side and behind. Its also helps samurai swim in the water

@wintersnoob yes it's an ejection device, when your tired of fighting to open it and it make you fly away. Clever people these samurai...

You really show give credit to the modder. They make the Total war games like this 10x more awesome!

I guess a lot of people miss the point that this isn't a tactical battle, but rather a displaying battle which has a lot of close up scene.

The AI is definitely improved because it didn't send it's general head on like it used to in other Total War games.
@BrendoGames yeah it's easy to stay up there and control the army, it's more challenging to stay close to the action and order arround

@duvillas Yes, gunpowder existed. Armies of armored ninjas working for the Samuari..not so much.

Is it just me or ninjas seem to have a really good charge bonus for infantry?

Should have immediately wrapped and encircled the main enemy infantry force when they clumped up at your center :D
This game looked pretty realistic until the army of armored ninjas with shrapnel grenades showed up.
