I have a double socket under my sink. I moved it up to the top of the cupboard, at least it won't be sitting in water if something leaks. Electricity above water seems more logical to me anyway!
Thanks for that, Mark. The van’s looking very tidy. I bet you found all sorts of stuff that went into hiding the minute you wanted it for a job. Are we going to get a three hour special when you tackle the lock up?
Great stuff as always Mark. For the company i used to work for we used to do a lot of commercial kitchens, might just need to check the spec of the oven, we had to use High temperature ABS or copper for the drain on them. Look forward to seeing the finished result!
Hi Mark, another great film thank you, under the sink looks good now, just needs the electrician to sort the double socket out. Have a great remainder of the week, take care, regards Chris. 👍👍👍
I cannot believe that a qualified electrician put that double socket in that cupboard resting on the bottom of the unit, especially underneath a sink, gives good sparks a bad name, anyway great content as usual.
Another great video Mark. That drainage looks a challenge, couldn’t you get some Munsen ring fittings with the rods and base and glue them to the stainless steel or use double sided tape? That box of ceramic cartridges you have do they do kitchen & bath taps and where did you purchase them from? Take care buddy and looking forward to the next episode 🙂👍
the amount of double sockets i've had under sinks that have had leaks leading to the whole consumer unit tripping is ridiculous, especially in new builds that have a good 18 months before all the plastic crap starts to go
Hi Mark, watched your video and noticed that there was no trap on your mates kitchen condensate wast pipe as it's connected to the rest of the waste system. Don't know if you picked up on this or not. Keep up the good work 👍
Get some rubber lined clips on metal rods for that plastic pipe and rivet them onto a little bit of stainless plate. 😊 Oh and tell your cust9mer to wash up before you arrive next time 😂
Water going uphill?! As it’s just condensate from the fridge couldn’t you install a little condensate pump and thin plastic tubing like for aircon units and avoid all that pipe work around the units etc?
There’s no regs saying you cant put a socket there but as an electrician myself I tend to put mine 100mm off the bottom and drill a 75mm hole out directly underneath it to allow the plug tops to fit up through but also if there is a leak the water can exit down that hole and not come into contact with the outlet. It’s more about common sense than following regs tbh. There’s so many regs that are fine but in reality you wouldn’t ever do.
No issue having a socket under the sink, (aside from putting it so low, that’s a rookie mistake) More chance of a socket getting wet above the worktop…. Unless there’s a leak, in which case, the leak is the issue 😂 but the rcd will do its job and turn the power off in (usually) about 28 milliseconds 😃
Nothing wrong with a socket in a cupboard but that one IS wrong as too low down . no room for any kind of moulded plug to fit into it as you discovered Schoolboy error from the sparks on that one should have known that lol
Socket in cupboard under sink is wrong on many levels and at that height some plugs wouldn't fit into it especially the ones with thicker flexes. Also a leak could easily leave it sitting in water.
Don't let the water authority see this video. Especially your friends kitchen. No grease trap fitted for combi oven or potwash sink. Unless he has external 😊 They're cutting down on it mark. I know alot of commercial kitchen being threatened with fines now.

What is the purpose of the silver coloured cylinder that you have to plug in ?
It’s the boiling tap cannister

Yep makes sense
Hi Mark. Nice couple of jobs to get you back into it. The commercial kitchen job will be a piece of cake for your skills mate. 👍
Quite looking forward to it to be honest 👍🏼
Thought those quooker units have a pressure relief valve on them
Some do and some don’t…. Depends if you use a vented tap or not
Thanks for that, Mark. The van’s looking very tidy. I bet you found all sorts of stuff that went into hiding the minute you wanted it for a job. Are we going to get a three hour special when you tackle the lock up?
The full directors cut 🤣🤣
Back of my van looks like your garage at moment lol
Hahahaah can’t be that bad 🤣🤣

Thanks for the heads up mate
Ye I use copper on them.
This pipework is literally just the condensation off the oven….
Hi Mark, another great film thank you, under the sink looks good now, just needs the electrician to sort the double socket out.

Thanks Chris….. yep they need to lift it a little
Changed the cartridges in my mixer taps and found that the screws in the end don't fit the new cartridges. Good video Mark.
These washer boxes come with screws 👌🏼👌🏼
@@MJTiffPlumbing OK Thanks

Not a problem fitting it under the sink but needs to come up a few inches
Agree 100%
Agree 100% Terry

You must of read my mind, exactly how I think I will be doing that bit 😉👍🏼👍🏼
The cable strain reliefs are gonna have a hissy fit in that socket....😂
What 🤣🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️
Holy cow batman how many veto bags you got there!!!. Serious bits of kit those 👍👍👍👍
Proper bags the Veto Pro Pack ones👌🏼
@@MJTiffPlumbing They look the business to be fair but are pretty hefty on the wallet. Hope you had some discount on that many bags!!!!
Can’t believe you were on my doorstep so to speak in Sunderland. Would have said hello. Next time hopefully 🤞
Will be heading up there agin in the coming months
@@MJTiffPlumbing keep us posted 👌😎
👍🏼👍🏼
Looks good under the sink mate
Bloody tight ain’t it🤦🏻♂️
Come across lots of sink units with sockets underneath, you'd think they would be positioned as high as possible though.😊
Especially this one… it’s just too low
They knew you were coming to change those tap cartridges but couldn't be arsed to sort the pots out on the side. 😵💫
Adds to the real world plumbing vibe 🤣🤣
that annoys me too, but ah well we get paid for it. some people dont think like tradesmen.
My first thought too, wouldve taken two seconds to put them away 🤦
Mark think of all the scrap you would have if you told people you need a new tap when the cartridges have gone (like i do) 😂
Hahahaaaa
When doing waste pipe job use runner lined clips m10 back plates and threaded rod no movement for ever
Good idea that👍🏼👍🏼
@MJTiffPlumbing in Ireland all commercial rubner lined clips and have have tees and cleaning eyes at start and end of line
Great content again Mark, not sure about electrics and water, never a great combination. Beneficial to lift that socket.
Less water under a sink than over it…. Not a problem at all👌🏼👍🏼
@@MJTiffPlumbing Good point 🙂
the amount of double sockets i've had under sinks that have had leaks leading to the whole consumer unit tripping is ridiculous, especially in new builds that have a good 18 months before all the plastic crap starts to go
Is it a huge issue then??

Hahahaha so many people have said that🤣
Yep Munson rings for the waste is what I will be doing👍🏼👍🏼
Millions of different shape and size those tap cartridges! Nightmare should be standard sizes.
So many different ones
The only problem you could have with the double socket is it’s a bit low as it puts pressure on the cable. Great job nice and neat 😊
Wait and see😉
Go on MJT. You're doing well lad. Keep your foot on the pedal
Thanks mate 👍🏼👍🏼
Just wondering if the water heater can be fitted a little higher to allow the waste pipe to run underneath instead of around it would run a lot better
Would be a right pain to switch that up
@@MJTiffPlumbing Ok thanks
@@MJTiffPlumbing Could you space it off of the wall and take the drain behind it?

It’s from the oven buddy….. possibly however if it’s in waste pipe and they want to add anything the pipework is there all ready
Why is socket so low ridiculous 😂
Yep… needs to come up a few inches
lol I should have watched the video before commenting lol 😊
One step ahead 🤣🤣
Can I ask you a question. How much do you charge for replacing tap cartridge like on your video? I just wonder it is worth.
I charge £80 plus the materials

Yep makes a lot of sense doing that 👍🏼👍🏼
That’s such a stupid place to position a double socket. Crazy
Just needs to come up a few inches and it would be ok…… bloody sparkies🤣

Completely agree mate
Surely the sparky should have know you wouldn’t get a plug in that socket properly 😮
You would of thought so wouldn’t you
That double socket is too low. You'll never get a moulded plug pushed in,
Wait and see the whole video😉😉
You need to find another sparky.
He’s not my sparky…. He’s the clients
Nothing wrong with a socket in a cupboard but that one IS wrong as too low down . no room for any kind of moulded plug to fit into it as you discovered Schoolboy error from the sparks on that one should have known that lol
Yep I would of thought they would of fitted it higher as a matter of course
That socket is stupidly low. I'm not surprised they install them like that in all new builds though 😂 Shite workmanship
Yep needs to come up
@@MJTiffPlumbingOr the electrician can just invert the face plate so the wires face upwards instead.

Nothing wrong with it, it just needs to be higher up. This is extremely common.
Nothing wrong with putting a socket under sink but it's better at the front and that one you won't get a plug-in
Yep no issue at all
