Hi Ruth. I also bought an apricot tree this year. I've been thinking about it for years, but now it was finally bought. I'll plant it in the spring. It will stay in the greenhouse in it’s pot through the winter. I have lots of fruit trees and berry bushes in my garden. My favorite to eat must be cherry and raspberry. You did a great job with the planting, Hope we both can be able to eat our homegrown apricots.
We just had our first apricot yesterday and boy was it delicious! Usually I would remove all first year fruit, but since it only had one, I expected it to drop it anyway... luckily for us it held onto it and we enjoyed a yummy sun warmed one! ... now I can't wait for the tree to mature and be able to sustain more than 1 apricot a year! Cherries and Raspberries are great - we did have a raspberry cane... usually they end up like invasive weeds - but some how we have managed to kill ours! Might need to look at planting another one. What's your favourite way to use the cherries or raspberries?
Hi Ruth,where is ur location?why ur soil is such black?my soil is clay,I start to plan the apricot this year,it lookk like not very well.Is ur apricot growing well now?
Hi Tiffany, we're in Christchurch, New Zealand. We're lucky and this is how our sol naturally looks! Our late fruiting one we transplanted last winter to a new spot as it was growing too large - and it's doing wonderfully!
