I did this on daughters 04 CTS with a pioneer Avh280BT dbl din and never installed car stereo before. I was able to retain my d.i.c.! I had a minor issue but when I reached out to Hudsonb11 he actually took time from his life and called me. Walked over and double checked everything with me! Videoed with me so we can troubleshoot. Not only did he save me money on all the connection parts you don't really need he actually acted as my personal installer when he helped me and did it from pure kindness! I can't thank him enough!!!!!! Thank you soooo much @Hudsonb11 !!!!!!!
Toni Fanguy... 5 lug 4.33 inch or 110 mm high offset & 22's... only need to remove the front 2 wheel well shield rivets... had 2's went to 6's lot of work
So I bought a double din for $110 a harness to retain onstar and all functions for $65 and an install kit for $14.... installed it, it's beautiful and everything works great.. P.S. I sold the stock stereo for $200 on ebay...
I just want to say thank you I searched for hours trying to find a video on how to wire a double din. Came across your video you are by far the best in the easiestvideo I watched on this I just want to say thank you once again
Very good video! THANKS!!! Had to let my eyes readjust from the jittery video but that's cool!!! LOL!!! You put the info out there that people pay a fair price to have done!!! A BIG THUMBS UP!!! These cars are so delicate that just changing the battery improperly will throw it into anti-theft mode. Shops will charge you $150 to reset it plus there is also a tow bill! But there is also a way to reset it by yourself for free. The feature is built into the CPU but but there is no literature in the manual. The dealership wont even tell you how to do it. LOL!!! I called the manufacture in Detroit and talked to a tech who told everything I need to know. You can run codes and even reset codes with the stereo. Thee cars are very friendly, it's just finding the info that's hidden from the consumer. GOOD JOB!!!
double din unit... good quality speaker jacks...metal snips( dremmel tool is best)... electrical tape... basic tools for disassemble and lots of patients
Thank you so much for your hardwork! My question is can you use a LOC where you tap into the wires? The reason I ask because, I noticed with rca jacks cut there is a low level noise unless I plug the harness back in. Thanks again. Edit...I found the problem, had wires reversed.
Nice video! I would love to do this. My wifes 06 CTS.. The damn radio will come on like once every blue moon! I can't figure it out! I have checked every fuse under the hood, and under the back seat! I then disconnected the battery and let it sit over night. Plugged it back in the next day and BAM! The radio came on! I turned off the car, then turned it back on and it no longer worked! I touched some buttoned (randomly) and viola! It came back on for about 10 seconds then powered it off! I then pulled the stereo and checked the bottom wiring harness on the radio, it has a red/white wire and a black wire.. I disconnected it, turned the key to the ON position, and checked it with my meter and viola.... I have 12 volts of power! Radio still doesn't work! I don't mind putting in a new radio but I want that DIC... Any ideas?
How did you put a new radio in without removing the whole dash kit. I have wood grain along the volume/tune knobs I want to keep. How did you manage to keep the factory dash kit to put just the radio in?
so if I'm correct we only need to be concern with the speaker wires and the power wires, hook them up like your video says and everything else is retained? and thanks by the way your video is the most explanatory out there.
John Cacioppo... that is correct... but you will also need a antenna adapter to get radio signal and if you need any help along the way I'll be more than glad 2 help
I did everything to the T like you said and the setups on point, only thing is it sounds like I'm getting interference through the speakers now. This is through Bluetooth so I know it's not the antenna, I'm assuming it's the rca's but I didn't cross them and they're plugged up right. Any suggestions?? Anything would help. And thanks for the video man helped me ten fold
Mike Edgeworth... you will some interference...mostly noticeable during low volume... just make sure you using a decent quality set of rca's & you got a good connection
how do I get my radio in my 06 CTS v to not say no signal with a warning that says "video not available while driving" I have a SSL this is my first time but I had a harness that hooked up didn't have to even tap into the cig lighter (access GMOs-10) but just wondering how to get rid of that and hook up the antenna! any help would be great! great video!
So I bought a double din for $110 a harness to retain onstar and all functions for $65 and an install kit for $14.... installed it, it's beautiful and everything works great.. P.S. I sold the stock stereo for $200 on ebay...
Can i buy any after market din radio with a 7 inch screen. and.... on the back of the stereo there is more than one audio and media output. ie: left and right, audio and video, what do i put there? and yes... love your tutorial. great job!
So in the instructions it talks about the two ribbons that connect the main board but it dosn't talk about the therid one in the back what to do with it do you know about the smaller ribbon and what to do with it
I have a 2005 CTS and for some reason the on star was draining my power to the battery and I would go though a lot of batteries until someone decided to cut the radio completely out because the radio also started to drain the battery so on star was completely taken out, removed, disconnected. I bought a new radio system/front and back camera access and I don’t know what to do other than popping everything open but other than that idk which wires I should connect in my scenario???
Double check your wiring that the jacks hooked to on the middle plug... also refer to my other video that's strictly on the wiring ( Cadillac cts double din install prt 2)
well update on situation everything is 💯i will have to find a different constant in srx that fuse location that u used messed up u front for some odd reason it was stuck lol.
could you send me the video of the full procedure and could I use a double din kit with out using the other two plugs or do they have to be plugged in too
it's all part of the refabrication process... Those circuit boards are moved up to the highest position inside the housing allowing the necessary room to put double din unit
I have a 2008 Cadillac STS with a factory Bose system and I'm trying to replace just the deck but the problem I have is I can't find a wiring diagram that matches all the colors that are on the 2 16-pin connectors that were plugged into the original radio. Also, the guy at a local custom audio place told me they don't make a harness for this car so I've already cut the connectors and started this myself and I'm stuck with no working radio at the moment.
anybody hating on this really just go ask ya local audio installation providers and see what they give you as a quote. i bet you will change your attitude.
I think I tried all the volume stuff I will recheck all the hookups in the morning, and that fuse would that have anything to do with the DIC,i did disconnect the battery when I did all the connections..
John Cacioppo...pretty much the dic isn't getting power the only way that's possible is if it's not connected or you have a blown fuse so hook your battery up and recheck the fuses... and recheck to make sure your board isn't touching the metal housing... willing to bet it is because the dic didn't come on and that is the cause of your fuse blowing
hey how do you get the power to the radio I understand the green and tan rca jack hook up but does that alone power the radio without hooking up the amp but only using the factory one
if you could take a couple of minuets and explain how does plugging the jacks into the back of the new aftermarket system wired the way you did into the tan plug makes everything work.,I just can't wrap my head around it, there are so many wires still not connected. All the techs I contacted said it can't be done, won't work, yet I see with my own eyes you made it work.
John Cacioppo...Lol no problem I get this all the time... so not to sound too technical but this system transmits all electronic functions through what is called a data can bus system... we are merely tapping into the sound transmission of this system with the jacks that's why when u plug the jacks into the aftermarket unit you get sound from every speaker in car... only other way is to use pac o2 but you lose the info center... trust me when I tell audio shops haven't been educated on this... point them to my channel please
This didn't work for me, I had to tap into the wire harness underneath the rear seat behind the driver side. It has all your speaker wires, front left+right, rear left+right ect, they are thicker gauge than most and they are wrapped together in a swirl. If you want to know what colors they are I suggest you take off your door panels and look at the speaker output wires for yourself, they are the same all the way back the wire harness coming out the stock factory amp. I then tap into the acc fuse box also under neath the back seat for ignition and then the cigarette lighter for power and ground. I ran all my own wires from there to the head unit on the driver's side.
I'm kinda lost on how to connect my other wires besides speaker and power. (Illuminate, ACC, etc). any help would be great since now i know i don't need the pac. thanks
well I'm almost done looks good, but no sound, power is good, and no DIC,I followed the paperwork that I got online to the letter, cut everything just like it said, checked all fuses, I know the unit is putting out sound I checked it with a portable speaker by plugging it into the rca out put, got any idea's, I'm done for tonight......thanks
thanks but I don't have one of those fancy phones, but if you got any idea's, I don't think I missed anything, plugged everything back in, any common mistakes people make, I spliced into the speakers I didn't cut them, checked that connection changed them around to check that, my wife said I'm blanking crazy. She might have something...
John Cacioppo... make sure to check fuses under the back seat... specifically the audio fuse... also make sure the board isn't touching the metal housing... the board is a live circuit and will blow a fuse... also don't forget to turn the volume up as usual using the steering wheel control or volume knob and you also have to use the volume on the aftermarket unit
Ich habe den CAdillac SRX 2005 mit dem Original Radio mit Navi gibt es da evtl auch was für?? Auch wenn es bedeuten würde ich müsste es zurück Bauen auf das Normale Radio ohne navi
keion franklin...Good be waiting to see your results... I honestly encourage what you doing because I was the same way when I took on this project... I paid $80 for the pac... good thing I bought it from Walmart hassle free return
Hudsonb11 I did but I dnt which is negative and positive I even tried to switch a few times but don't kno which is which I know the two greens go together n the green and tan but don't kno which is negative and postive
Justin Moss...keep the wires matched up just change them around on the jacks one side at a time cuz either the front just playing or the back... best done with it playing so you can hear the difference
Justin Moss.... basically u making a shell from factory unit that aftermarket unit slides into... check out my video cadillac center mod... like, subscribe & share please
Justin Moss... once you make the modifications the opening where the factory unit was removed the aftermarket unit will go in and you can secure it from each side with screws
Hudsonb11 have the same car and my passenger window wont go down or up with neither button on driver side or passenger it only goes down or up when I move my driver window in outher words my driver window controls my passenger window...can u help
Just added another video (Cadillac cts double din install prt2) everything not seen or addressed in this video is in the second (ALL WIRING EXPOSED) & yes its possible with the bose
+Hudsonb11 Thanks man. Great videos. Installed myself and it looks good. Sounds excellent. I do have a couple questions though...can't get the audio during a phone call to play through the speakers when I connect it to my radio. It shows the incoming call on the display; you can answer via the radio display; it connects to the other line; but the sound doesn't come through the speakers. The person on the other end can hear me though (the radio comes with an external microphone)...another thing I'm trying to figure out ishow to use the Pandora feature on the radio that is supposed to be able to connect to the Pandora app on the phone (one phone connected through bluetooth) but the radio just keeps telling me to open the Pandora app (although it's already open). I'm assuming both issues are either a setting with the radio (Sony XAVW650BT) or some sort of setting on my phone...any thoughts? Appreciate any insights you have. Thanks again.
jd state... Glad my videos could help... on your issue with the phone call don't forget you have two volume controls so make sure the volume on aftermarket unit is turned up... I turned mine to the max and just use the steering wheel control to adjust it... now with the app 9 times out of 10 it's a setting and once you open app on aftermarket unit and launch it on your phone there should be a message on your phone that you have to accept to give the radio app access
Justin Moss... send a pic to me @ customautosports@gmail.com so I see exactly what you got... the sound issue: make sure you turn volume to max on aftermarket unit then you can adjust it with the the car volume knob or steering wheel control
i know this is kinda old but a response would be appreciated! can you send me the link to everything i need to get this installed ? harness, same radio , double din, everything. thanks man! really tryna fix up my caddy
Define Trill... radio is ssl Dd882BI... no harness needed jus basic tools & electrical tape... jus follow my videos & you'll be good... there's 3 on this setup and another one for rap accessory if interested in that feature watch my remote start install video... Sorry for delay and help needed just reach out to me
what would happen if I plugged the tan plug back in, would the xm work thru that I can see the preview on, but of corse no sound, or would it interfere with new radio
John Cacioppo...only way to use xm is if the unit you installed is xm ready... you will also need an antenna adapter In order to get good radio signal on aftermarket unit as well
ok so I waited until it got dark DIC is not lit up at all but functions are working, was I suppose to ground the board? no right? also the aftermarket unit is XM ready and I did put an antenna adapter in but can't find XM plug that would go in new unit. Not too worried about that anyway. More concerned with DIC.
The plug in for the xm unit is under rear deck on driver's side... wish I could see some pictures of your set up i could definitely get u going but just reading and using my own understanding of the system i have to assume a connection is loose somewhere... make sure the ribbons are fully connected... all plugs are full connected in back of radio...and again recheck all wiring connections and fuses under hood and behind both driver and passenger seat
I understand and do appreciate all your help, I will take some pictures tomorrow, I'm just a little worried that maybe something in the board got messed up when the fuse blew but even more so when I reconnected it after. Did you see where I mentioned it smoked a little for about 2 seconds? and I quickly unplugged it, But all the functions work just the light doesn't. I will recheck all the wires and connections in the morning. Now let me ask you this the new aftermarket works perfect, so all that wiring is fine, it must be with in the DIC/main board or those connections correct?
can eney one answer me this doing this are u still able to use the volume on staring weel ? is evrything normal ?I Wana do this I just want evrything els to work the same?
never mind I forgot the screen is part of the top board I know I plugged that in, but I did ground the aftermarket unit at the antenna screw? that I put back
Anybody know bolt pattern for 03 cts I'm trying to get rims but dnt kno the bolt pattern... also what's the biggest size I can get wit out run or doing anything extra to it
goodmorning, first let me say thank you very much for all your time, here's where I am, got sound, fuse was blown, I took out the unit and made sure the board wasn't touching any metal, all good now, I can see the dic but it's very faint but if there any ideas?
John Cacioppo... Good afternoon and no problem you're very welcome... the intensity of dic is controlled by how much light the car senses it should get brighter the darker it becomes outside... if not I noticed you said you used a different ground... gotta check those wires for touching and good ground
well I did ground the aftermarket unit to the metal that was in the car the peace I had to cut(center stack) I had it grounded to the screw that held the antenna plug to the back on the main board(I disconnected that and moved it to where I stated previous. Other than that it's grounded at the lighter where I tied in for power and ground(like your video)all functions are working just really dim,i also put something over the sense to make it think it's darker out, is it possible something got fried when it blew out the fuse, sound is excellent, this morning when I replaced the fuse and plugged it back in I noticed a little smoke coming from where you plug in one of the ribbons (left one facing the unit) I quickly unplugged it wasn't more that 2 seconds fuse did not blow.
I did everything hooked it back up , the dic turns on but no information is showing. It had turned off on me and it showed the anti theft lock symbol, I unplugged the theft fuse & put it back and didn’t do it again
Rod Coffman... If it's the factory unit theft lock occurs as a result of your factory alarm system... My first suggestion is to disconnect the battery cables for about 10 min then reconnect... If this doesn't correct it then set your car alarm off and disarm using the key fob

finally some straight info on the pac-o2 myth!! thnx
thanks but I think it should be brighter, it was before I'll keep checking. Any other thoughts, on star works but not xm, couldn't find the xm plug
I like that quick not a lot of tearing out👍

Katherine Southworth ...yes u can buy any aftermarket radio and the other wires you're referring to won't be used
@@Hudsonb11 I bought one, but it looks different and has extra wire's. Can you message me on Facebook?
I don't remember plugging the dic screen into anything was there a plug attached to the screen it self?

well today was finally a nice day in #612 so i got finish my setup i cleaned it up by using the spare i had. i will update my page tomorrow
do you also maintain your satellite radio, if you buy a satellite ready radio..?
John Cacioppo... yes as long as the aftermarket unit you're installing is satellite ready you'll just need sign in with credentials
okay i switched it up and everything is running smooth gotta tweek some things but its complete
thats badass i cant wait to do mine great mod vid
4 Sho fam dang sho needed that info I'm on it
could you send me the video of the full procedure and could I use a double din kit with out using the other two plugs or do they have to be plugged in too
Best part was listen'n to your thug southern slang ! Loved it. thanks for the video. Make another video, ON ANYTHING! Make sun pancakes for them kids!
Jerid Collins... Lol thanks...as we speak i just completed a remote start install for 03-07 Cadillac cts so stay tuned for video Saturday 4/8/17
Yes 2 both questions...
could you post a little info on mounting the double din to the dash please?
it's all part of the refabrication process... Those circuit boards are moved up to the highest position inside the housing allowing the necessary room to put double din unit
so can it be done with pac that is supposed to eliminate you having to run the wire to each speaker thats plug and play and keep the dic

You gotta be from Alabama....lol My patna talks just like you man!!! Good vid... He from Opelika...lol
Lol... Nooo Georgia native💪🏾
go to any auto parts store and ask for a star wrench... got mine from advanced auto parts for about $10
but all info in dic is retained so it can be done. thanks my guy bc every shop was trying to charge a stack or more on this setup
keion franklin... No problem & I know because before I took on this project I was quoted $500 installation only without d.i.c
Quality breakdown n explanation, thanks.
I have the same question as warren woods.
So do I cut the section out with a drimmel tool?
What stereo did you use for this model? Great work man looks amazing
Osiel Hernandez ...SSL
Hudsonb11 ?
Does the steering wheel controls still work
😱 great video, a million thanks!
Cool 4real ... thanks...gotta couple more cadillac videos coming stay tuned in .. like ,subscribe & share please
What size double din are you using?
Ich habe den CAdillac SRX 2005 mit dem Original Radio mit Navi gibt es da evtl auch was für?? Auch wenn es bedeuten würde ich müsste es zurück Bauen auf das Normale Radio ohne navi
Translate to English please
you mean the aftermarket radio itself?

keion franklin...Good be waiting to see your results... I honestly encourage what you doing because I was the same way when I took on this project... I paid $80 for the pac... good thing I bought it from Walmart hassle free return
keion franklin... just checking with you to see how everything working out for you
Its highly appreciated
Gidian Tarwater... No problem I gotcha
Do you have a Pac on it?
I got everything hooked up what wires do I need to run so the factory amp can turn on
I was wondering do I have to cut anything so my 7"screen will fit in
so I went be able to use the remote wire off the deck? I actually want to by pass the factory amp all together is that possible
Me and My Son Fun Raising Him ... Possible but a lot more work
SSL... Changed it to 10inch Android unit now
Just wondering if you dont care about retaining the dic is there an easier way to do this. Thanks
Good to the sound to get loud but my factory sub is not hitting like it use to
Justin Moss.... double check the wires where you tapped into with jacks to make sure then not crossed & also have a good connection
Where do you put the other end of the speeker wire
Not sure exactly what you mean or referencing to by “other end of the speeker wire”
N what actually holds the radio in place to the aftermarket head unit like how do the old screws for the factory radio fit
Justin Moss.... basically u making a shell from factory unit that aftermarket unit slides into... check out my video cadillac center mod... like, subscribe & share please
Hudsonb11 I watched that one but it didn't show it being put all together
Justin Moss... once you make the modifications the opening where the factory unit was removed the aftermarket unit will go in and you can secure it from each side with screws
Hudsonb11 thanks bro keep up the videos man this was clutch
Anytime... thanks for watching... gotta couple more fresh videos coming so check back
just added the video you requested... Cadillac cts double din install ( center mod)
+Hudsonb11 Thank you!
What about the circuit board that controls the dic screen did U cut any part of it?
Hudsonb11 have the same car and my passenger window wont go down or up with neither button on driver side or passenger it only goes down or up when I move my driver window in outher words my driver window controls my passenger window...can u help
Is there anyway i can jus see the back of your radio.
ground the parking brake wire on aftermarket unit
what all do I need to install double din?
Will
I loose my information center?
Can you install a third party radio but keep the up and down motion on a 2010 Cadillac CTS??
J . Hova... Haven't done that mod myself but I'm sure it is possible... I'll do a little research and see what I can find
Hey be finally finished but it doesn't show gas to empty n all that stuff n but it does display n the sound is real low any solution
Justin Moss... send a pic to me @ customautosports@gmail.com so I see exactly what you got... the sound issue: make sure you turn volume to max on aftermarket unit then you can adjust it with the the car volume knob or steering wheel control
how did u add the stereo
Where did you get the wiring harness for the double din ? I can't find one anywhere
Nathan Dorris... there is no wiring harness
i know this is kinda old but a response would be appreciated! can you send me the link to everything i need to get this installed ? harness, same radio , double din, everything. thanks man! really tryna fix up my caddy
Define Trill... radio is ssl Dd882BI... no harness needed jus basic tools & electrical tape... jus follow my videos & you'll be good... there's 3 on this setup and another one for rap accessory if interested in that feature watch my remote start install video... Sorry for delay and help needed just reach out to me
Hudsonb11 thanks man ill message you when it comes in✊🏼
Define Trill... yea that'll work and fit
what would happen if I plugged the tan plug back in, would the xm work thru that I can see the preview on, but of corse no sound, or would it interfere with new radio
John Cacioppo...only way to use xm is if the unit you installed is xm ready... you will also need an antenna adapter In order to get good radio signal on aftermarket unit as well
John Cacioppo... plug in the third plug it won't hurt anything I have mine plugged in just so it's more secure
ok so I waited until it got dark DIC is not lit up at all but functions are working, was I suppose to ground the board? no right? also the aftermarket unit is XM ready and I did put an antenna adapter in but can't find XM plug that would go in new unit.
Cash Money... everything works
multi size star wrench set kinda like a Allen wrench
never mind I forgot the screen is part of the top board I know I plugged that in, but I did ground the aftermarket unit at the antenna screw? that I put back
Anybody know bolt pattern for 03 cts I'm trying to get rims but dnt kno the bolt pattern... also what's the biggest size I can get wit out run or doing anything extra to it
goodmorning, first let me say thank you very much for all your time, here's where I am, got sound, fuse was blown, I took out the unit and made sure the board wasn't touching any metal, all good now, I can see the dic but it's very faint but if there any ideas?
Elizardo's VARIOUSTv... double check your plug ins and fuses
My shit work 💯💯
what type of stereo you got ? the stereo 7 inches ?
for antenna you need an antenna adapter
Excuse me bro im having major trouble trying to putmy double din in can yu help plz
Say brother how do you take a theft lock off the radio on a 2006 cts Cadillac! Thanks shalom
Rod Coffman... If it's the factory unit theft lock occurs as a result of your factory alarm system... My first suggestion is to disconnect the battery cables for about 10 min then reconnect... If this doesn't correct it then set your car alarm off and disarm using the key fob
Hudsonb11 thanks brother! For your help! SHALOM!
