The Ogre reminds me a bit of the "Red Riding Hood and the Wolf" etude by Rachmaninov, which was composed during the same period, but which is much more ominous. "The Prince" also sounds like another of the same group of etudes. These are wonderful pieces; thank you for posting them, especially with the sheet music.
@@nathanturczan you got it right. The way to study com sci (or anything) is to put the music away; come back to the music when you're ready to give full attention (as you would with the computer science)
I've been listening to your Bridge uploads, and although I really want to like them, these are the first that I've actually enjoyed. I found myself thinking that Medtner tells much better tales. I wonder if the two ever met? They were both in the UK at the same time. Perhaps Bridge's later style wouldn't have been to Medtner's taste.
@@Jivje0is0pr0 op. 20, 26, and op 51 are great sets of skazki. Ashish Xiangyi Kumar uploaded a key compilation of Medtner's skazki. While the skazki are great, it's his sonatas that shine. I recommend digesting the Night Wind, the Romantica, the Reminiscenza, the Tragica; find what you like, really. Sonata Triad and early sonatas are very melodic. Sonata Idyll is very mature and probably one of my favorite listens when I'm bored.
@@zackwyvern2582 Really appreciate you taking the efforts to recommend these. Just started off with Skazki op. 26 and I'm really amazed by it. Especially the third movement. Will definitely give the others a go during the week. High praise to you Zack!
Whoa - I REALLY like this one

My associations go more towards Prokofiew, e.g. Old grandmother's tales.
Very interesting music. I did not know anything by this composer. Thank you for sharing it.
Part of me wants to arrange this for the Celeste.
Molto poetico. Grazie per la pubblicazione
Thank You for all your uploads
Lovely pieces! Thanks for uploading :)
The Princess, The Ogre, The Spell, The Prince
Nice
Classical music, the best way to get your life organized.
idk, these musical score/videos tend to distract me from the computer science tutorials I should be watching!
@@nathanturczan I don't know, maybe you shouldn't be messing with these demonic machines, that all they want to do IS SUCK AWAY YOUR SOUL!!!!!
Never thought of it in quite that way before. I do know they help me write and plot my stories better, though.

Thanks for the advice. What pieces from Medtner can you recommend?

@@Jivje0is0pr0 If you're still in thirst for more good Medtner, his violin sonatas, while lesser known, are gems as well
@@zanexiao4488 I will put one of those in my playlist for tonight. Thanks Zane!
