Walt Disney's "The Title Makers and Nature's Half Acre" Season 7 Ep 30

- From Season 7 of Walt Disney's Disneyland Anthology program we have Episode 30: The Title Makers and Nature's Half Acre which originally aired on June 11th, 1961. The first half of this episode is a promotional piece for the upcoming theatrical release, "The Parent Trap." We spliced in the DVD quality restoration of this segment from a release of The Parent Trap on DVD and also include original, unrestored commercials. This entertaining segment shows how the title sequence was made and also features Annette Funicello and Tommy Sands (taking a break from filming Babes in Toyland) in a dramatized preview of the film, accompanied by a mysterious voice from above. After this we provide a short introduction by Winston Hibler of Nature's Half Acre. This entire True-Life Adventure featurette can be seen in fully restored color on Disney+ so it is omitted here due to copyright. Starring Tommy Sands, Annette Funicello, Hayley Mills, Maureen O'Hara, Brian Keith, Charlie Ruggles, Una Merkel, Leo G. Carroll and Joanna Barnes.
Note: This was the last original episode of the Disneyland Anthology program on ABC filmed in black and white.

This is a terrific assemblage and collection from this episode -- fun behind-the-scenes of making the stop-motion animation titles and theme song - what a bounty of two of the hottest young lady stars he had with The Parent Trap starring Hayley Mills and with Annette singing theme song -- and the great Disney teasers, fun vintage commercials for the precursor to Ozempic and the animated Dixie Cups, the cool old ABC Network station IDs, and surprised to even see a full TV trailer for a non-Disney film but with a connection to Disney: Snow White and the Three Stooges.
Another tip of the hat to you for cobbling this one together!

While Annette is experiencing another plane of existence, Tommy Sands is very much still with us here in this dimension! I wonder what he could tell us about his experience w/ Walt.
Tommy was briefly interviewed on a Disney Treasures "Your Host Walt Disney" Bonus Feature "Working With Walt". He mostly spoke of how he was personally recruited to the studio by the man himself.

His own take on that old Wizard of Oz scene! And coincidentally, he had got the guy who played the role of the Scarecrow to star in "Babes In Toyland".
That’s Ray Bolger. Castle in Spain is my fav from Babes in Toyland! The Disney and Oz connection runs deep!
