You gotta check out the live version of this song he did in Oakland. That’s the one!
I was just going to mention it. That's THE version of the song. It's more popular than the studio recording and is considered one of the greatest live performances of ALL-TIME.
@@SPTO As well as the posthumous duet between Marvin and Betty Wright on this song! ruclips.net/video/PlKC2Ly3N_Y/видео.html
Marvin Gaye Live in Oakland: ruclips.net/video/XSEmL3is76g/видео.html
The Oakland performance energy is definitely stronger than this performance!
FACTS!
Marvin could "put his heart in every line."
Marvin is the only artist I've heard that can make his voice duel and Harmonize at the same time. His range is monstrous!!
Anyone who got to see this man sing live should count their lucky stars. Because they got to witness arguably the greatest singer to ever walk this planet. In fact I don't believe most people really understand his true talent level - he wrote and produced his own songs and was a multi-instrumentalist. Its mind blowing.
What can you say about Marvin Gaye man, a legend and deservedly so.
Shout out to Motha Popcorn for this classic request. Definitely one of my favorites growing up.
I love the recorded version...
What's Going On - is the best album of all time. Always relevant. Masterpiece! Marvin Gaye was a genius!!
All Time Favorite ...
Marvelous reaction!..react to Marvin's REHEARSAL of I want you, the man was laying down on a couch and his vocals were flawless!!!
JJ, it is good to see you react to this talented singer. We were in hog heaven when his music was played. Thanks for playing this.
Listen to Marvin Gaye's National Anthem February 13, 1983 NBA All start game! Thank You. Just Jammin!
I hope you do a repeat of this song with the other live version mentioned in the comments. It much better and the one most often played. You won’t regret it.
I will.
If I should die tonight it's another jam
There's only one Marvin. One of his best lives was done at the NBA All-star game. His version of the National Anthem in 1983, tore it up.
That was performed by a master artist. You will not get that kind of performance from anybody today, because it could not be pulled off with the grace and style like that of a Marvin Gaye or his ilk.
Just to keep you satisfied-Marvin
Incredible is right! Not only Marvin's delicate beautiful vocals of pain, but also listen to the beauty of dynamics that the bands displays. They bring the volume up during drama and height of emotion and then back down during the emotional hurt, and frailty of what Marvin is singing about. This is what is missing today. That sensitivity in musicianship to elicit emotion and dramatic feel. You can't get that emotion from looped beats on a drum machine. Marvin plays responds to the band and the band responds to him. Nowadays everyone just wants more loudness, and not those beautiful subtle dynamics that you hear going on. Rock AND Soul had that aspect back in the 70's because once again, the musicians listened to Blues and had those Blues sensibilities of projecting feeling. If we could just get that back, you would see music to the level of what you've been listening to that came from the 60s and 70s. That's why it has lasted for 40, or 50 plus years. Glad you heard this song, young man. So much music, so little time in life. Keep this music alive. Tell your friends!
Please react to if I should die tonight by Marvin.
By far his most underrated song.
Marvin gaye was and still represent "BLACK LOVE"
If I Should Die Tonight by Marvin Gaye
check out The Whispers Live,Isley brothers Live the Dramatic's live, p-funk live you'll love it
ONE OF THE GREATEST VOCAL ARTISTS THE GRACED THIS PLANET!
JJ I like both live versions of this song cause Distant Lover is one of Marvin Gaye's iconic songs. But in your spare time please listen to the recorded version from the Lets Get It On album. You'll see how Marvin, the musicians and the background singers made this one of his smoothest songs ever recorded!
my bad this wasnt the live version i wanted JJ to listen to,the other one iz the classic that i thought i was requesting
Well you have to make sure to listen to it first or share the link yourself. But jj still loves it and honestly there no bad version of marvin.
You're forgiven. I see enough people (me included) have told him to check out the other version.
You. Talking about the steamy. Version😘😋😁🙀
🐐🔝Marvin il Migliore
Simply WOW! - Brooklyn Mike
So, now review "My Dear Mr. Gaye" by Teena Marie. It's her tribute to Marvin Gaye.
Believe it or not as great as this is, this isn't even my favorite live version of this song. I think you should check him out live on video singing this.
Lawd, have mercy ;0
No his steamy version is out of this world please do that one you will be 🙀
I feel you bruh. There will never be a duplicate. Please play him singing the National Anthem. You won't regret it
Oh yes, I forgot about that. He was awesome.
I love Marvin Gaye! My dad and mom went to one of his concerts and my dad was so drunk he kept yelling for him to see this song , even though he already sang it. This song is my dad and mom's love song.
The studio version is a recorded masterpiece. This is his 2nd release of this song live. The 1st version is far better ("Marvin Gaye Live" not this "Live In London"). The studio version better than both. Still a great song. Marvin would often just deliver a song live that was a COMPLETELY different version of a released record. You should find the time to listen to the other versions, you owe it to yourself. (the studio version is on "Let's Get It On"). He just mailed this one in, great as he was.
IF YOU'RE GOING TO GET INTO TO MARVIN YOU NEED TO JUST SET EVEYTHING ASIDE, SET YOUR CLOCK SIT BACK AND LET IT ROLL BECAUSE HE PUTS YOU IN A ZONE. SO MUCH GREAT MUSIC BY HIM THAT WASN'T EVEN PROMOTED A LOT. CHECK OUT, WALKIN IN THE RAIN, ANGER, SHE NEEDS ME, THE SHADOW OF YOUR SMILE, THE WORLD IS RATED X, EGO TRIPPIN OUT, PRAISE AND SO MUCH MORE!! THERE ALBUMS WERE WORKS OF ART AS MUCH AS A PICASSO PAINTING IS. HERE MY DEAR, I WANT YOU AND WHAT'S GOING ON. ALSO CHECK OUT THE ARTIST PAYS THE PRICE ON HIS "PRAISE ALBUM. NOT TO MENTION HIS STAR SPANGLE PERFORMANCE HISTORICAL!!
