It's not an inverter but a converter.
Inverter transforms DC to AC.
Converter transforms AC to DC.
The converter charges the batteries. The inverter draws power from the batteries.
That been said, the video is informative and to the point.
I just changed mine out. Followed your directions. Thank you so much. I am truly not a electrical person but thanks to your video I had the confidence to tackle this job. 👍👍
Glad it helped
I’m swapping mine out today, but went with the manual switch version as I’ve heard of people having issues with the auto-detect model not actually detecting it. Thanks for the walk-through!
Would you happen to have a link or know what it's called I can't find a manual switch for my WF-8955/WF-8900
This was awesome thank you! We have a 2019 Keystone Bullet and I want to upgrade to Lithium batteries. I knew I needed to upgrade our charger and though this was the way but needed a video like this to show me how. Looks pretty simple. Thanks!!
Wow you were not kidding~ I stripped the first “roberts” screw that I tried to remove. Took me an hour to get it loose & out. Other than that it was a simple swap out. If not for the stripped bolt, it probably would have taken 20 min. Great info, thanks.
Glad we could help! Those screws can be a pain though.
Thanks for the video. I was having a hell of a time trying to figure out how that circuit board game out.
Great video. Easy to follow and straight to the point. My question is, how have you handled the charging connection from the tow vehicle through the 7-way connector?
It was already wired in, the only issue is it won’t supply enough voltage to completely top off the lithium battery.
This was a great video to change out the converter.
My goal is to not need a generator so now with a lithium iron phosphate battery, and a converter that can charge lithium, don’t I need an inverter? And do I need to do anything with my solar panel charge controller?
I have about a 250 watt solar system.
Thanks for the help. I was easily able to to convert to the auto detect, however the auto detect is a misnomer. The convertor now needs to to be programmed to charge lithium at least according to the video on the WFCO site. It may change automatically if when you are connected your battery was fully discharged. My battery was not fully discharged, so it is still charging it as if it was Lead acid. so know I need to figure out how how to fully discharge my 100 amp hour lithium battery.
Why speak of the CONverter as an INverter? They are not the same thing.
yea i think he's confused
My thoughts exactly. And once he called it a charger, which isn't right either. Very confusing. Good video, but...
@@jlantz3691very confusing.
Will this make it so that the lithium battery is charged properly by the trucks alternator while towing?
What trailer looks like my wolf Pup 14CC. I’m using this to convert mine
Which inverter did you install?
I did a video on this subject and found that the WIFCO converter does a poor job of charging my lithium ion batteries. I put the jumper cable to cause the 8955AD converter for lithium battery parameters.
I just did one week boon docking. The WIFCO 8955AD never reached near 14.5-.6 volts to properly charge my batteries. I only got 13.6 volts out of converter. This resulted my batteries reaching a 13.2 volt settled charge. This is only a 50% LiTime charge capacity. Go Victron. My WIFCO upgrade was $200 wasted.
How does the WFCO model compare to the Progressive Dynamics replacement?
Did you add solar to your trailer yet. I can’t find a video on that?
Very helpful video. The process is quite simple as you have shown and many videos do not make it seem so straighforward. Did you receive a new DC circuit board and decide it was not necessary to replace the old one?
Do you mean the fuse panel? If so, there’s no need to replace the panel.
So the jumper will work on your 😊model
I have a 2020 fifth wheel. The dealer said there is a switch on my converter to change to lithium. Do you know where the switch is located? thank you.
Would it be a bad idea. If you have a solar panel, that would take your lipo4 battery to full charge. If you keep your original lead acid charger?
Nope, shouldn’t be a problem.
@@CarDoItYourself Thank you !
Hello, great video hey, you mentioned that you reached out to the inverter company which is probably is a WYCO
Would you happen to have the phone number? I am having a hard time finding it.
What about DC to DC charging from your Tow vehicle...???
Hi,
Do you mean inverter or you mean converter
converter
so why does he keep saying inverter in the video it's so annoying! lol @@zonkers155
How we installed the lithium batteries: ruclips.net/video/J4OU9TAONbw/видео.html
Did you replace the inverter or the converter?
He swapped the converter. I imagine he realized he was using the wrong word after the fact but not much he could do about it…unless he wanted to do the video all over again.
Your Amazon link is broken! Can you please fix?
How do yiu charge your batteries?
Is it an inverter or a converter?
How do you determine if the current inverter is lithium capable?
The easiest way is by looking up the model number, some will also indicate of them, or have a switch to select lithium or lead.
You are upgrading the converter, not the inverter.
yea it's a big difference
It’s important to know what equipment you’re working with. This is not a INVERTER it’s a CONVERTER. It’s also a AD Auto Detect. WFCO is having problems with detection of lithium batteries. Do you have 14.4 volts to Battery? If not you’re not in Lithium mode.
There sending me a jumper to force lithium only charge on my new WFCO 8900 MBA AD relacement. I had installed dual lithium batteries.
@@KJC63where do you get this jumper and how do you install it?
I just contacted WFCO support via email saying I want the jumper to force lithium. You'll need your WFCO model and give them your address. They just mail it to you for free. They tell you how to install. It just slips on a some pins on the WFCO board. Very easy.
Great info. Way easier than changing the converter out again for one that you can select lithium.
NOTE: your WFCO has to support lithium. The purpose of the jumper is to force it always in lithium properly
Is your rv 30 amp or 50?
Mine is 30a
you keep saying inverter in the video - are you making a mistake?
Do you mean "converter"? Because you keep saying inverter.
