I am an art teacher and we are studying kinetic sculpture in our unit. I showed this video to my fifth graders and they were mesmerized and inspired! Several of them plan to watch the video again at home. Thank you for posting!
And this is the difference between serious artist and just adding some glue to lots of metal and get them on fire, *ahem Fire Girls ahem* Can you see how much planning and clean work does this guy do? That's the difference indeed.
@snoobeagle you do know that anyone calling himself "RadicalLiberal" can be expected to be anything except a liberal? If you wanna be taken seriously, would you ever call yourself the "RadicalConservative" or "RadicalRepublican"? Don't mistake trolls or someone who is obviously out to piss people off with a person of different political perspective. Let the clowns stay in the circus
I appreciated your response to the jerk that wrote an insulting comment about the sculpture video - I am often really irked at people's comments and I wonder if it's worth further effort to respond to them... I think that people feel comfortable posting such hateful things because they know they wont be held accountable for the ugly things that they say. As we say in the south, "their mamas didn't raise them right". Anyway - thanks for speaking up! You are our country's future!

then he would've invented a perpetuum mobile :P I think they're powered by wind or small engines or something
Spidaminda thinks being talked to like a 5 year old is not enjoyalbe. But, I think if this man could be a good speaker, he would be that. He is who he is...These things are important to him, it what makes him who he is.... I must say that there was a minute or two when what he said about himself waht very telling. The same thing over and over again. Which was the truth.
@radioaxtive That was a little uncalled for. I'm not like everybody else who make unrelated comments about justin beiber because they're bored. I was simply stating that I think it's sad that real art isn't as appreciated as (I personally) think it should be. That is all, and I'm sorry if my comment bugged you (which it seems it, and I apologize)
I like it , its great, but who pays for all this, most of us have careers and stressful jobs so we can eat and sleep at night, I love photography and dream to pursue capturing the beautiful world around us in a frame, but it aint free, obviously, it might take along time till I can just create art all day, just sayin..
It's all very well that SeaNanners has brought a lot of you into something beautiful, but i don't think it was his intention to be mentioned on every single page he visits. Please, enjoy the artist, like SeaNanners does and comment on SeaNanners and his seemingly unlimited skill on his videos. :)
@VincenzoB81 Useful? It really comes down to your personal interpretation of 'useful'. Maybe you don't, but I certainly consider his art 'useful' to us just as human beings.
I love this so much! When art and science collide, the results can be wondrous, and in this case, many wonders. I hope to meet Reuben some day, and discuss his art and process!
Things like this bug me... because people like a Justin Bieber has videos with tens of MILLIONS of views... and it means absolutely nothing. When we have a REAL artist who's got only hundreds of thousands. Something is very wrong with those numbers...
Yeesh...why do they have to put childish puns and jocular pseudo-hip crap after such an intelligent and well-constructed presentation?! Does anyone really enjoy being spoken to a 5 year old? Even a five year old?
@Cutziepie4ev Forget that my symmetry of sentence structure was kind of funny -- just call me a chode. That's a totally original argument. Also, you're missing a comma or two in that sentence fragments of yours.
@devotedpupa You know what bugs me? I can't read a couple video comments without running into some high-minded individual that doesn't even know the difference between "it's" and "its" and "its" and "his."
greatest thing ive ever seen!!! ive always had ideas for elaborate mechanics but dont know how to lazzy to try you know all those weak exusses and are people trying to advertise on these coments darn shame
Man(humans) is capable of creating anything! This guy reminds me a lot of myself the way I see colors separately and every shapes broken up, not all together. This guy finds motion. I liked the whirlpool he made! =D
Amazing video, have more video's like this.... Also Reuben Margolin should make some Little Big Planet levels haahhaha. Anyways on a serious note his work is beautiful and it's unreal what he can do with wood and pulleys.
While not proven, I believe there is a certain point in a multiverse where things like this stopped existing. I think part of my happiness was when I realized this was not one of those worlds.
@nfnkalyan No, maybe let's not be so harsh (I'm trying to be one of them). But let's say that if humanity wants to rebuild after apocalypse, this guy will come in a lot more handy than most scientists.
@coryms12 I agree, buuut, you can't force or even expect people to appreciate things they can't understand - people stick to Bieber and shitty "artists", because they're much easier to comprehend.
If you rode a bike right near MacBeath, then you're right over by where I work in Emeryville. I think what you do is pretty amazing! Where can I see some of your work on display?
@coryms12 Well, Bieber is for 13 year old girls. Adults appreciate this much more. Kids have more time to watch RUclips. :/ But yeah, I know what you mean. This is amazing.
To have a mind to think how something will cause so many things to move is like =O I could never do it Interested in it But i would fail after models bigger than 1" tall
@Dragon22mj drugs nothing. this guy's on a good ol' fashioned mix of artistic vision with mechanical know-how O_O if you got that, it's like a natural high 24/7/52
WOW!!! this is AMAZING!! I love the idea. I love the concept! I love kinetic sculptures!! this is so exciting. I can't wait to try something like this at uni =D
Reuben Margolin you are a certified genius, to be sure. Thank you for the treat of Pure Joy.
extreme home makeover should get this guy on their crew
This guy is a nut... in the best possible way EVER! I love that stuff!!!
this guy is amazing

Speaking as a bronze sculptor.. I must say.. his work is genious..
The one starting at 2:47 is in the Chabot Space and Science center in Oakland CA, I have been there and seen it, it is very cool.
Imaginative use of mechanics in creating aesthetic shapes, solids and their smooth movements.
This guys a fucking genius

Now that's modern art, not some genitals on the cross or old lady peeling potatoes. This is amazing.
This is the coolest Art I have seen in a long time.

I was thinking the same thing!
@FutureEntrepreneur1
barely rich Hah! he paints rich peoples houses for money
he does this for love he built one from recycled soda bottles
@coryms12 i cant say nothing more youre 100% right, seems like people doesnt value whats good they enjoy by supporting crap most of the time :(.
That was genius. I like that he keeps it simple with the materials and recycles. But the measurements and formulas must be ridiculous!!!!!!!
How can someone not love this ?? if that guy was living in Albert Einstein time, he would be consider as genius ......... AMAZING work.....
What a *great* video and what cool works he puts together!!
OTOH, the daft gabble after 9:36 is why I quit my subscription to "Make".
@coryms12 then, tell that to scientists ! They created a lot of useful things than this, but people never interested in whatever they say.
@coryms12 Art is subjective. Just cause you think this is better doesn't really mean much. More people like Bieber so he is more popular.
Omg i hate trigonometry with the sine tan cos!! Ha makes me wonder why am i in the smart class for maths :/
@underlinedbluetext AND he loves doing it. For all we know, he's got it made.
What would be truly amazing is a very minuscule intricate wave but spread out over a large surface :)
Nannerman, this is amazing, makes a nice change from the "ZOMG I went 70-0 against a bunch of handicapped kids" videos.
His voice is as annoying as he's got talent.
That sounded ridiculous. I couldn't come up with anything better. Sorry.
it is an artistic response to the nature....besides, through the artwork it enhance our comprehension about the nature
interviewer: "so what inspires you to make these sculptures?"
Reuben: "ohh I was just bored"
lol these are col
He made a mechanical representation of a Modulated Carrier Wave...aka AM Radio.
Far too cool....
This is the very thing that mkes things happen in this world,, keep the good work going!
All I can say is WOW!
Awesome video...awesome thing. Subbed you for sure. Stoked to see more.
pfft, i could make those a million times over, in my sleep, with my hands behind my back, with my EYEs closed.
I've seen those in some kind of german TV commercial. They look amazing!
I love all of your impressive work. Saludos Paty
Interesting, but... has he ever made anything useful? Seems like he could be one heck of an inventor!
if this man wrote his notes and calculations with a mirror, he would be a modern day leonardo davinci
People like this make the world a better place.
WHAT THE FUCK ive never seen art so fucking cool like this
5 stars dude that stuff is great!!
if my math teachers used this to teach math, I think i might have not asked "what's the use"
So what good is MATH anyway???
THIS is what math is good for !!!
(among other things) :-)
I wonder if he makes stuff for the house like, a little mini waveform for the desk, you know?
Poetry in motion the inspired work of a visionary 🌈🌈🌈
This guy has learned from expirience... he's a genious. He thinks like me. Dude. Me gusta.
This guy is so much more of a scientist than most scientists with a hundred publications.
Fast animals Slow children... this tuesday!
idk why what you said reminded me of that...
genius
@thepascalhouston All that is, is the Distance formula learned in Algebra ^_^ at 5:28
where does this guy get his money, it looks like he has unlimited resources
oh my goodness this man needs to have his own museum. i was seriously amazed by his work.
Lmfao, 10th grade math is an alien language to me but this...o_o
You are a genious.
I really need to see the operating mechanism not just the sculpture itself
Hopefully he can get good enough to make kinetic sculptures big enough to fight the ones made by Theo Jansen.
@sharpezor From selling his pieces, I would imagine.... Not all artists are poor.
holy shit this is awesome!
cheers me up to know such kind of people still exist :)
You could almost say the next Léonard De Vinci with the designs he comes up with
@wilsonkick oh sorry.. i just hate it when ppl say that to someone awesome ;)
THUMBS UP IF YOU CAME HERE BY ACCIDENT BUT REALLY LIKED THE VIDEO ANYWAYS.
@quirboy he didn't send u if he liked it that means he just liked the video
@devotedpupa Forgive me if I'm wrong, but you just did a similar thing. :/
00:40 its like a new way of concept of bed for waking up a heavy sleeper?
ha, thats what i was thinking, check out arthur ganson, way more steampunk.
now that is art! amazing stuff =) only wish i could've viewed this in hd =(
Now there's an engineer
@devotedpupa its* haters
just ignore the jb comments?
@x12lesser21x bud you just need to chill out and get a sense of humor....
If papa nanners likes this, then that means that..... I LIKE THIS TOO!!!!
super talented, i wonder if he sells pieces.
