  • In this hike we visit one of the most difficult to reach mountain refuges in Spain. Its name is Jou de los Cabrones. To reach this point it is necessary to hike 9 km of continuous uphill, with an elevation gain of 1900 m. Due to the harshness of this route, it is recommended to sleep in the refuge and start the journey back to the car the following day.

If the Picos de Europa can't motivate, I don't know what can. Congratulations Pablo on achieving your goal. You look visibly fitter and faster so keep the motivation up. Having walked up to Bulnes a few times, you've inspired me to follow in your footsteps when I eventually return. Hopefully staying in the refuge and having a go at Torrecerredo before descending. On one occasion, having left Bulnes, we proceeded south, then west towards Pico de Albo via the Canal de Camburero before having to turn back when we realised we were being over ambitious due to time and conditions. Another day. Keep well and motivated.

Amazing video! Last month I climb to Bulnes in the 202 track, but that track is much harder

Hi Jose. If you went up there with 40 kg on your back you were fit as hell. Mad respect. Best wishes
(Si subiste allí arriba con 40 Kg a tus espaldas estabas como un toro. Respeto enorme. Un saludo)

    Hola Pablo
    Espero que estés bien.
I really enjoyed this and look forward to seeing the rest of your videos.
Could you recommend a four day hike route through the Picos that would show the best parts of this mountain range? In the future I am planning to visit this region. Gracias
    Saludos
    Andrew

Hello Andrew. One option which you may want to consider is the "Anillo de Picos" (Ring of Peaks). There are several versions of it with different levels of difficulty. The easiest one (in my opinion) is called Vindio Ring and can be done in four days. You can find more information about it using the following link:

Hi Pablo! Do you know what the weather is like in March? I was hoping to do a backpacking trip with my partner next year and am not sure if any of the Refugos would even be open. Any advice you can provide or insight you can share would be amazing. Thanks!

    Hola Pablo,
Cuando sera en Los Picos pronto, quiesero ir a Refugio de Los Cabrones. Es mas facile ir alli de Refugio Vega de Ario y de Rifugio Urriella que de Ruta de Cares ? Gracias, Mont. ...hablo ingles normal mental.
