Thanks for a great review! I love the SC Elite v3 and I will probably run my spring marathon in them. I'm both excited and nervous about the changes in v4. Overall I just love the spring/bounce and how my legs still feel fresh after long workouts. Before NB so graciously sent me a pair for free I was 100% an Asics girl and was racing in the Metaspeed Edge+ but I have been converted!
I've done 3 half marathon races and some training sessions in these this year and although the foam feels good and responsive, my gripe is the tounge. Why did NB make it so short? At the end of every run I've got laces on my foot instead of the tounge.....Why didn't they gusset it and make it longer?
Thanks for another great video Emily! I’m digging the look of the SC Elite V4, but I’ll hold out for the next drop of the Alphafly 3. Keep up the great work mate 🙂
Fab review Emily thank you - good to know this is mid-packer approved. I'm def in the market for a super shoe this year so will be keeping a close eye on the new releases. Also, I love to geek out on shoes. Much to the bemusement of my running buddy!

Definitely looking forward to the v4. Have all 3 previous versions. I still like the v1 for tempo runs. V2 was too mushy although I will use it for long runs. V3 was good but missing something not sure what. Had to actually send back the 1st of V3s due to a bad finish on the ankle which rubbed. Like you I didn’t like the heal collar.
For me the V3 bottoms out at racing pace but it's my favorite training shoe at medium pace..I have stocked up on the V3 cos the changes are often not up to the task ..it will only take a quick run to judge the changes..
OMG!!! My wallet is screaming a bit, purchasing both SC elite V4 and Rebel! O well at least I can say it’s for my birthday! I love the new geometric, why is it controversial?
I’m curious about the Balos too after seeing the TRE report on it. But I’ve loved the Endo Pro3 which was my 1st CP race shoe and now I’ve been given an AF3 for a 30 day test trial. I’m curious about the Balos as a long run training shoe since it’s plateless.
I can't wait to get both versions! I already have the V3s and love them, so getting more of those, and will snag those CyberTruck-esque V4s sometime in the Spring. :-)
Great review video! As a middle pack runner, I’m very interested in this shoe. Would you say it fits true to size? I like a fit midfoot but a roomy toe box so I go a half or whole size up depending on the shoe. Are these unisex sized or dedicated men’s and women’s sizes?
Hi Emily, great vid as always! Xx You say true to size, did you have to size up for the Sc trainer v2 ? I usually size up half size but I had to size up a full size in the SC trainer v2 as my toe was catching the edge - wondering if I should do that again if I try this bad boy out. Also would you run in this over the sc trainer v2 if you had to run a marathon next week? X
Sc elite v4 without a doubt. I have a lot of confidence I could run a marathon in the sc elite v4. Alphafly 3 is possible but I would be a slightly more hesitant to do so
Feels like this one might be an entry consideration for back of the packers as well. In general I don't use plated use as I'm still pretty below average in terms of pace. Feels like this one might change my mind.
Hi Emily! Great content! I’m new here! Thinking about a future half marathon in April, not just in training but also on race day, would you recommend the new Elite v4 or the SC Trainer v2? (I currently train with a Novablast 3) I want a plate shoe for my race day and also for some training (not all of them).
Hey there! Thanks so much for watching! Honestly I’d probably go with the sc elite v4 in that case, since you have the novablast. The sc trainer will give you the extra pop that the novablast won’t have, but for a lighter faster feeling shoe I’d go sc elite v4. You can also use that shoe for some of your workouts as well, although I would stick to the novablast for most of your runs. I hope this helps!
Maybe I’ll go for a super shoe for my next half. I’ve been sticking to super trainers like the sc trainer v2 and MachX but this one is tempting to try.
@@RunLikeHeller Thanks! I managed to get a pair of Alphafly 3’s (they should arrive tomorrow) for a spring marathon. I run the same pace as you. Interested to see how they feel. Will probably go with Saucony Endorphin Pro 3 as my backup if I don’t like the Alphaflys.
@RobertBruno (@RunLikeHeller) I’m in the same situation as you. Last April I ran in the Endorphin Pro 3 which was the first CP shoe I purchased and loved, but my fave independent running store (which I visited last week in SD, intending to order a fresh pair of the above for next April) had just gotten in some AF3 and brought them out for me to try. I never liked Nike’s (the last time I tried a Nike was the VF Next% which I returned because they hurt my feet), but I had to acknowledge the AF3 seemed to be a potential upgrade in bounce and propulsion, so the store is sending them to my home for a 30 day trial. I’ll be totally confused if the SC Elite4 is thrown into the mix but not sure they come out in time.
I’m excited for the SC Elite v4. I so wanted to like the v3, but that upper kept on blistering me. Not in the same place as you though. More under the laces close to the toes. I didn’t want to have to wear tape or a bandaid each time I used it. The changes to the v4-not the least of which being the new Peba midsole-look very promising.
@RunLikeHeller How would you compare the NB SC Elite v4 to the Saucony Endorphin Pro v3? Especially whether you think both are equally accessible to mid-pack/pace runners and as comfortable.

I really liked your review of version 4 of this shoe, as you constantly make comparisons with version 3, which gives a great reference. Unlike you, I didn't have any problems with the upper part of version 3 and I actually like its sock shape a lot. On the other hand, I found the midsole to be a real disaster, too soft, I would even say too buttery. In other reviews of this model I heard that the new midsole is as soft as the previous one, which really discouraged me. But you who actually used both shoes emphasize that there is a huge difference between the two, not only in the upper part but also in the running experience. If possible, I would like your objective opinion on this issue: Are both midsoles the same softness, or is this new one from the V4 firmer?
