  • Paul and Young Ron radio show had Cesar Millan in studio. You may remember him as The Dog Whisperer. Now Cesar has a new show called Cesar 911. Cesar tries to help show host Paul castronovo by showing techniques to calm his Westie from a triggering event. You can see that Cesar knows what he's doing immediately.
    Does Paul Castronovo learn from the event? We'll see...

    Cesar's methods are beautiful and simple. The dog tried to physically grab the tape measure, Cesar physically corrected him. It didn't anger or scare the dog - he just sat down. Look at his body posture, ears, etc. It's about communicating with the dog on their level.
    After that, just a simple gesture from Cesar was enough. No physical touch needed at all. All in a few seconds. Minimal stress for the dog, minimal stress for the owner! That's how things should be. I'll also give credit to that particular Westie...he learned very quickly with minimal repetition. Smart dog and very cute :D

      +bananian I think you would be in quite a lot of pain and very angry if someone "violently jabbed you in the neck". Your reaction would be very different from this dog's :P

      Ha! They are stubborn, but I swear this worked with our Westie. Nothing worked, and I mean nothing until I tried this method. He thought EVERYTHING belonged to him, even our feet and that everything was a game.

    Giving dogs structure and leadership gives them freedom. Dogs who are well-behaved can go more places and do more things than dogs who are untrained. Some people think any type of pack training is bullying and abuse. These are the same people who refuse to say no to their children because it's "mean".

      He keep saying he's not a dog trainer.... He rehabilitate dogs... He train people... He is just a dog whisperer... More like A leader of the pack or Alpha Male... "Sit, stay, roll over, play dead, etc. are human inventions... Cesar rather sticking on mother nature... More instinct and primal ways and that makes dog really happy and fullfilled... Humans don't want to be treated as a Dog... And Dogs definitly don't want to be treated as a Human... Any species are proud of what they are as their own species...

    it's kinda like teaching your children, if you discipline them when they are very young, then as they grow older all it takes is a look or a word to get better behavior from them and just like Cesar just gave a little push along with a finger snap, didn't hurt the dog but it got his attention, same with disciplining your children, we're not talking black eyes and cigarette burns here, just basic discipline when they are young.

    Why did the owner have a hard time training his Westie? I have had four Westies, and they are so easy to train! My last one went over the rainbow bridge June 2, 2021. I love Westies!

    Stupid using a metal tape measure

  • @weewhitedug5082
    @weewhitedug5082 2 года назад

    The Westie is obviously excited about the measuring tape. This "dog trainer" immediately places it in front of the dog's nose, setting it up for failure and then smacks it. Really???
    This is not training. The dog was not being taught to do something acceptable that it could be rewarded for. There is a way to desensitize the dog from the sight and sound of the tape WITHOUT hitting it and snapping your fingers in it's face.
    This dog just learned to associate the sight and sound of the measuring tape with being hit.

    • @junechristie2497
      @junechristie2497 5 месяцев назад +1

      Please don't be ridiculous, the dog wasn't hit or mistreated in any way. It's a dog that needed to be trained with wisdom, kindness and authority and that's what the dog got
      Man and dog are not equals. Humans are meant to subdue animals, that's how we've been created

      If he were terrified, he would've bolted.
      Look at his ears. Look at his eyes. Look at his mouth. Look at how much tension there is/isn't in his postute.
      Please learn a thing or two about dog body language before making idiotic comments.

      As someone who knows Buddy (he is as perfect as they get, despite tape measurer ocd) and who has 15 years experience in animal behavior - I am entitled to my opinion as you both are. I'm fully aware Cesar's fans are loyal and protective - hey, he trains humans let's remember, not dogs - but you may want to research what's behind his methods (for starters, look into the "wolf pack" he bases all his training on and you will be surprised. IE: there is no such thing, it's just a familial hierarchy that is FAR from how our domesticated dogs live). I used to respect Cesar too, and still do a bit, but his methods are entirely based on fear. I don't ascribe to that at all.

      Susan Cava
      I would love to know what kind of third-world education you got to come to the conclusion that this Westie is scared. (I am kinda interested in what other stuff you learned XD)
      15 years!? dafuq man (o_0)
      Even 5 year olds can tell the difference.
      Wow, I didn't know fear-based training can make angry red zone Pits and Rotties into calm, loving pets. I might as well go kick a Chihuahua puppy. (:
      You're just trolling, aren't you?

    • @MrTachyon3000
      @MrTachyon3000 10 лет назад +5

      Susan Cava Cesar's methods work. Giving treats which is the other method is against nature. What mother dog or group of dogs will give treats to a vicious unbalanced member? But of course, you're entitilied to your opinion.

    • @MrTachyon3000
      @MrTachyon3000 10 лет назад +4

      ***** Most of Cesar's critics claim to be dog trainers and when I ask to see their vicious dogs they have rehabilitated they have ZERO. Please watch video Be The Pack Leader- 10 Examples of Cesar's Way!. This 53 yr old lady actually did the work and uploaded the evidence. IT BLEW ME AWAY. Cesar's way works. That's why prestigious YALE UNIVERSITY is associating their name with Cesar and developing a curriculum to teach children about dogs. They call Cesar RENOWNED DOG BEHAVIOR EXPERT in their official website. If you like to do it your way and, like Cesar you get those vicious pitbulls that have killed other dogs rehabilitated with treats, more power to you.
