RIP old friend… I worked there I partied there I played there I lost my fucking mind there The old crew Edwin, Justice, Bexta and who could forget George at the door… 😢 Shout out to chuck, Helen, Bec, Nick, Amy, Brent.. memories for a lifetime J
Oh, no. Seriously? My name's Brett, I used to dance at The Beat in the late 90s and early 2000s. We had a tremendous crew back then - true HardHouse fans, hey - and Edwin was gold. He was true gold. My fondest nights there bouncin' to his mixes in the wee hours. I loved him. I loved the music he brought forward. HH is a niche; an art for those djs who get it right. HH is also particular - its a purist's techno sound for those of us who dig it seriously; I still do to this day. I cannot believe he's gone. I simply can't. I'm 36 now and would give anything to go back to those days and have an Edwin set. Bless his heart, hey. Pure respect to DJ EDWIN!
Hard House hey Brett, my name's Simon and I was there too loving the coolest scene EVER!! :-) just reminiscing on this crucial time in our lives and it's shocking to hear of all the beautiful people who have passed us on . Massive love to you and all of the great people of the time. God I wish we could hire a time machine for just one more night in Brisbane back then. Best of luck mate! :-) :-) :-)
Yes of course religion thursday ,Friday and Saturday nights ♡ now 50 and dancing around my garden in WA reminiscent of the best years of my life. ! Young kids today have no idea of the pleasure we enjoyed without phones and just beats and great goodies ♡
It was a religious every night of the week for me. Still holding onto those mixtapes. Have to keep and old tape player in the house until I got them converted 🙌🤟🙌
J-san always spun before Edwin went to 7-7:30am in the morning and then to mellinos for a chill and onto after party. Big crew back then and always new a newbie in the beat cause we didn't know them. George the little deviate on the door lol. Fuck I feel old now. Loved how you always made me feel like a sister and I belonged ,loved your mixed tapes I still have that no one else had the same....... miss you my brother, hope you still spinning in heaven
So sad to hear this. I remember dancing to Edwin in the late 90s, early 2000s many many times at the Beat, so many good times. At around 1145 on the video ♥
OMG, the Brissie Hardcore Dance Scene will NEVER be the same, your memory & music will live forever in my mind and body. Edwin, may your vinyls continue to spin, giving pleasure to others dearly departed...RIP
DJ Edwin will forever hold a place in my greatest memories and all time spine tingling electrical n euphoric moments of just pure oohhhhh F_*k YYYeeeaaaaa that could of only been shared in that moment
I forgot to give many thanks to this man who brought us so much bounce n effortless weight loss clinics weekend after weekend. Thanks for the memories Ed. No where bounced like the beat did come 3am. I remember leaving raves that cost $40-50 a ticket just to hear the right stuff you can really boogie to. Peace
Amazing times, and memories. That feeling of hot humid air and typical Beat smell walking into that door while Edwin would be playing is the fondest of all my memories. Then would go to DJ Thiefs apartment for a spliff. ;)
Open up those heavy black swing doors and feel the intense heat smack you in the face. That heat sucked you in and spat you out on the timber dance floor into a sea of smiling faces all there to witness the god of the night. The valley saviour. Our valley saviour.Who took us on wild adventures in the safety of that dank heat filled sound chamber that was the Beat! Church!! Then he moved church to the dungeon below and all his fellas followed him to the new hallow ground Rockas! And filled it with Rockafellas!! Keep it Rockin!! Brisbane Hard house legends PLUR
Thank you Dan for posting this...I have only just found out Edwin passed and this has been so cathartic. My own private memorial. Thanks again. Awesome.
Mate thanx so much for putting this back on the AIR!! I was there with you my friend ,we would have been ships in the night both loving the awesomeness that was rave in Brisbane 1990z! :-) oh how I miss the time of my life! :-) :-)
I don't know to be honest. I haven't been there for a very long time. The cockatoo club was more or less the same the last time I went but Wreckers bar had changed. They weren't playing much hard dance from what I recall.
Ed have me my worst first dj set at rockafellers downstairs. Back in 2002/3. We had so many solid good times, the crew in the Valley at that time was all love baby. Does anyone remember dj Justice??
Sick af mate!!! i used the go to the beat back in the day when Edwin was house dj there and dance all night then afterpartyies after🤘 that's when the Tube night club in Valley used to be around to🤘🤘 🤘
Thanks Gordon. I think the big fella would have liked it too. Ahh Fever, those were the days. I remember the DJ played Dirt Devils - The Drill there one night and the place went mental.
Dan Young Those were the days. It was my home there, Tran C, Tim Deans, the usual guest DJs like Bexta, Nick Fish, Amber Savage, Jason Midro, Peewee Ferris, etc. The Drill is a mad song.
To many good nights at the beat with this man ,,truley missed

Dan, thanks for this mix, mate. I can't believe that a titan like Edwin is gone. I can't.
You're welcome Brett. It's hard to believe he's gone. The fact that it was so sudden that is the most shocking bit I think.
My type of music what’s the beat like now so miss those days

@@DJDanYoung how??
@@richiewinz I believe that it was complications related to diabetes. From what I recall it was heart failure.
