I’ve heard the term “RPS” thrown around a lot but still have no idea what it means. I’m guessing it’s *something* Per Second but I don’t know what R would refer to.

RPS means rock paper scissors, but your explanation of what that means in GBL is not how poke AK is describing it.
He's using it to basically mean he's facing hard counter teams that he can't do anything about. Countered in the front and back twice. Rock beats scissors, scissors beats paper, paper beats rock. When your team is designed to beat a certain set of meta Pokemon, but you only run into counter teams to your team, basically you can't do anything about it and you end up just getting RPS'd to death.
From watching this video, there were certainly hard counter teams, but he backed out early on some of them he may have been able to flip. Sometimes I play out the RPS matchup until I see the third Pokemon in the back. 95% of the time it's a triple hard counter, which is an instant loss. Sometimes saving time and quitting is the better option, but there's still always a chance your opponent misplays and you flip the match for a win.
