The buffing wheels are not on amazon. Any medium wheel for compounding the light wheel for polishing should work.
Don’t comment often but appreciate your video. Very clear and concise while also being thorough. You have a knack for tutorial videos- keep up the good work!
Thankyou very much! I really appreciate the support! I will continue to try my best to produce the highest quality content I can.
I polish up my Stainless props in a similar way I go through grades 240, 400, 800, 1200, 2400 - but use them all wet, it polishes up smoother & quicker. After 2400 I move to Autosol metal polish paste and end up with mirror finish props.
I do the same way! Wet sanding does create a smooth finish - 100%. I also use 3000 grit and then metal polish
If you wet sand your sandpaper won't get clogged as quickly. It also lubricates the material so it isn't quite as harsh
Yes you are definitely right!
Than you will do mine the same way you did yours came out great thank you
Haha how much $$ are we talking?
Great Info Matthew, Good Job
Nice Job. How about a picture of the props on the boat. I bet they look great 👍
Now go back to original polishing wheel and put some effort into it. the metal will get hot and you need to push into it to get the prop to start shinning. what you have as finished is nowhere near polished... you want a sisal polishing pad to start with.
tTy watching a few prop repairing videos on youtube It will help you understand where you could make improvements. The shops do it very fast with grinders Also you cannot ruin a SS prop by leaving polish on it. It will no warp. The only prop that comes close to being as hard as a SS prop is a Nibral. Stainless is the toughest prop out there. You can not hurt it.
if after welding and repairing, how to polish the propeller and test
I am not sure what you are asking. Polishing should be the same.
I don't plan on eating off of my propeller... Believe me... Your cutting compound will taike everything off down to bare metal...! Nice jig arrangement tho...
Haha I like my props extra extra shiny! Thanks for watching.
Cutting Compound to clean, polish to smooth, rhen wax to protect... DUH...!
Your propeller is bare metal. But I don't se how this could make the propeller any worse :-)
If you wet sand less clogging
Yup I definitely should have done that!
A sanding machine would be a lot faster.
It definitely would be! Didn't take too long though. I also should've wet sanded. Thanks for watching.
Good video but that was not a "true" mirror finish at all!! it was all hazy and pitted in the end. I have similar props (bravo 3s) and I had to start off with a metal brush grinder attachment and get all of the marks and pitting off through there. and then used the black compound as the first of 3 compounds to get a true mirror finish! after that I used the silver to get the haze off and finished it with the green to get the deep gloss. you cannot skip any of these steps otherwise you would have just wasted your time and you might as well hit them with a light grit sandpaper (1000-1500) on a variable speed polisher and be done with it, it would look just as good as this just not "true mirror finish". also I would use the wool flapper grinder rather than this. its much more responsive to the actual grit of the polishing compound.
Yes it's definitely not a true morrow finish, but it's what we desired. Didn't want to spend more time and effort for something we rarely see. Thanks for the comment.
