I heard of you, but did not know much about you until you paid a bunch of teacher’s wish lists off. That is pretty awesome! The world could use more acts of kindness like that!! Thank you!
I’m from around Stl too, played lots of sports growing up, and also like Addidas. You have a new subscriber because of your kindness!
I taught in St. Louis city, and pretty much all the money I made went towards doing my job. I was given no supplies, no resources, and worked round the clock in order to help the students progress. I was pregnant while teaching there, the heat A.C. stopped working there my first yr, then the drinking fountains weren’t working (so I was bringing in jugs of water and paper cups for the kiddos to drink out of when it stopped working in the heat), & we’d open the windows, but it was miserable heat being pregnant. There were no screens or bars behind the open windows, & a student got out onto the roof and was running around. My heart was racing for fear of his safety! I’d see students leaning there heads and bodies halfway out the windows high above the playground to watch the kids below, and was so scared a kiddo was going to fall out the window. It’s rough teaching in the city, let alone starting at a new school in the middle of the yr, and then being pregnant starting with no resources. I literally had 8 students around my teacher table, and another teacher came in saying this used to be her table and she needed it back and took the table away from where we were working. Luckily, I kept resources from my previous teaching position before I started there & I did find a table. Many schools in the city need way more resources than the schools in the county have (teacher assistants, support- Assistant Principals, counselors- lots of students w/ a lot of behavior issues). Anyway; any type of help geared at schools is greatly appreciated!!!
