The most beautiful creation of these days, lots of love and respect to the create and also you for show us 😍❤💛💙💚💜🤎🖤🤍
I installed Microsoft Office 2003, which was heavily inspired by Windows XP, to the point that it even looks blue if you use Luna blue theme. But then I changed Windows theme to Luna silver, and guess what, Office theme changed too. I opened the Word and it had grey interface, not blue, it recognized the change. Office 2003 acts as if it’s on legit copy of XP, not themed 10. Very cool.
Did you know? Office 2002 is Office XP
@@WindowsTeamX meh no big deal just snuggle up to a nice warm cup of coffee and enjoy🤣
@@raven4k998 You have to read my answer quiet good 😒
THats some wird shit goin on
@@WindowsTeamX bro what
I can’t imagine the amount of work, the amount of gutting and transplanting of the different OSes required to make this happen on top of what would appear some extreme registry tweaks as well. Despite some visual glitches it appears really stable.
@marcosmoutta how come? I was thinking about dual booting and use this as my primary and then use my other install as a backup for when things go awry
@@CSX8600 Dual booting in my experience is almost never a good idea. Like the video suggested, install it on a 2nd machine if it suits your fancy. Yes it looks fun but it's not the latest version of 10 and it's not officially supported MS software.
It's based on Windows 10 LTSC 2019 (1809) which has support until 2029
Michael is doing less research (or just plain not utilizing basic reading comprehension) and putting much less effort in his videos lately. You'd think this should have been immediately obvious to someone with as much experience as MJD, which is a bit disappointing
Windows 10 LTSC has support well beyond windows 10 EOL in 2025! You can run it as your daily driver until Microsoft ends support for this build.
thanks
There do I download it ?
only the 1809 LTSC has extended support until 2029, the latest version is only up until 2025 for some reason
I really like it how a lot of people still want to have another version of Windows XP or 7, but of course, Microsoft doesn't listen to it's users (especially nowadays) and we're practically left to do our own modifications in order to make it look like the older versions! As always, awesome video Michael MJD!
Windows XP for the win
Nobody is interested anymore to leave material/flat designs and this sucks
If only they listened and remastered those windows versions, I would definitely use them. Their designs had character.
@@windowsxp3790 And 7
Nobody wants another Windows XP. Windows 7, I can see that, although Windows 11 is, in terms of looks and performance, a very nice upgrade from 10!
With so many of us missing the UI of XP, I really dont understand why M$ doesnt have it as a full featured theme option.
Because of money. With every GUI update, Microsoft has to check to make sure nothing is broken. If MS then had to check if different themes are working, that takes time. However, what MS does is licence the ability to someone like Stardock to make such GUI changes. Stardock pays MS a bunch of money for the right to retheme/reskin Windows, and MS have said "Sure, no problem, we won't make any official skins for Windows".
@@Locutus i doubt stardocks does they probably just know the stuff that needs to be modified to make chnages but honestly whoever designs the start menus after windows 7 should of been fired
@@dawn1berlitz Sorry, I wasn't clear. Microsoft does all the GUI work, including the designing and coding. However, Microsoft doesn't really want to get into the game of making themes, or similar things.
They would rather someone else pay them money, so that other company can make themes. Stardock pays Microsoft money, for access to all of its GUI APIs, so that Stardock can make customisations.
Microsoft is happy, as they don't have to divert resources to a non revenue area.
Yes, I agree that the Start Menu after Windows 7 was atrocious.

I like this type of Windows 10 custom one, I wish this could have the Windows 7 recreation version especially the Aero Transperency
Unfortunately that one is the hardest!
there is the windows classic shell to give windows 10 the windows 7 start menu.
I never learned how to use windows 10, I just use classic shell and my windows mostly feels like windows 7....
windows 10 is horribly unusable without being modded.
@@escapetherace1943Lol same. As soon as Windows 8 started with that whole “start screen” junk, I went “nope, not doing that” and installed Classic Shell. 10+ years later and I still install it on every computer I get.

The Pinball window title bar issue is just a Windows 10 thing, it does the same if you run 3D Pinball / Full Tilt! on non-themed W10, so it's not a theming issue FYI.
I was soo hyped on the style from Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. It was the same, but it was slightly prettier.
I'm 99% sure i didn't dream this but years ago my dad recovered a windows 7 install with a windows xp recovery dvd and it created a weird hybrid of both, either that or just corrupted it
wait really?? what was it like?
@@superpie64 Im not sure cos it was years ago but I’m trying to recreate it in a vm
There was a Windows XP mode on Windows 7. It was essentially just running Windows XP on Virtual PC, but there was a way to get the windows in the Windows 7 ui.
You are not dreaming. My university's computer in one of it's lab has this. There are 2 versions of windows. 7 and XP. And when you first start the computer it asks in the boot menu if you want to run windows 7 or "older version" which is xp. It runs on software rendering mode. We just play pinball and cs1.6. apparently they installed cs1.6 to check network activity. Those computers were in network lab.
@@dwild92 I don’t think it was that because it looks like a virtual machine you have to actually install
This is pure wizardy to me how it was done and how it looks like. I have never saw someone pay that much attention to detail when it comes to reskins.

@@encycl07pedia- i suppose ya live up to your name
This is some excellent work. I'm working on a project that transforms Windows 7 into Windows 95, but it's just going to be a VM image at best, not a transformation pack or anything of the sort. And my goal is to absolutely ensure that if you want to tell if it's a real 95 installation or not, you will have to dig deep. But I'm nowhere close the faithfulness of this Windows 10/XP thing.
And missed opportunity to show the shutdown dialog if it's the one from XP as well.
Travis and the rest of the peeps did an amazing job with this. Really well done mod.
Nice that good old Xp felling
Gets your nostalgia kicking
If I could have something like this but with Vista instead of XP I would die happy.
Vista had it's problems but the design is still beautiful to this day.
Vista Ultimate is still my favorite ❤️
Windows Blinds+Aero Theme+ Old New Explorer+ Classic Start Menu+ Sidebar+ Vista Stock Icons installed with a icon pack software

Very good video! Really liked it! Shows what some people are capable of with Windows modifications! Keep up the good work!
Nice vid, I would love to see more Windows modding content in the future
I've been waiting for this for years, this is amazing!
I started out with windows 98 as a child and then xp was the OS I used for the majority of my teenage years before we ended up with vista, weird how nostalgic this is !
imagine a linux distro that looked like windows xp🤔
The farther we are from XP's launch, the more I wish the old theme came back
Looks really really cool, bring back so many good memories. I'll maybe wait a bit though, to give the team time to correct some of the issues.
I actually don't care about any of the shell themes, but the Windows 7 control panel and Windows XP fly-out Start Menu. There were more simplistic elements. Every Windows since 8 has felt like I'm working in a phone UI.
I remember using Windows XP Pro x64 as my main OS, so that screen saver isn't out of place to me. 😄 I also remember it kept getting recognized as Windows XP Server.
Oh, I had an AMD Athlon 64 X2 "Brisbane" 5000+ @2.6 GHz, if anybody was curious. It was both my first 64-bit and dual core CPU.
didn't expect people to use xp x64, it was rare since vista already came out with most 64 bit cpus, even 32 bit was a better option for software support
@@namesurname4666 WinXP64 came out at least a year before Vista. But yes, it ran like crud. Not ME bad, but pretty bad. The compatibility and transition to 64bit was rocky to say the least.
@@namesurname4666 many people installed xp on a native vista machine, thats how unwanted vista was. Honestly not so different from win 8 or win 11
@@tzuyd I remember a friend of mine bought a 64-bit Windows laptop in 2008 and people, including myself, just asked him why he'd do that. 32-bit was still the default and 64-bit was the future that hadn't fully gotten out of the beta stage yet.
Amazing work of love on a passion project! Thank you for the tour.
Been waiting for a version like this
I'm still puzzled as to why Windows 10's default customization options are so restrictive.
Impressive and nostalgic!
Really Awesome!! Hope to see this in the newest version of 10!
Nostalgia is a helluva drug. Makes people create stuff like this 😂
For myself I use OpenShell with the Windows XP style menu and Luna theme start button and I've had people who I shared my screen with appreciate it. But this just takes it on another level. I wish you could just install it on top of whatever Windows 10 version you're running but that's probably not really possible sadly.

This is amazing. I've been trying to do this for years!
i am stunned! this looks wonderful!
I really like it! Now Windows 10 has a nice simple and usable UI which takes you straight to the point again! I would have loved to use this as a daily OS
Can you please tell me if you installed it?
@@Ivan-cc9uz I did,but it's not a daily os. There are things that don't work right or don't work at all. This OS was made just for fun,not for daily use
I just can't handle how depressing windows 10's graphic design is. The entire look of it gets even worse once you Press the windows key and the drawer with junk opens up. For this reason I kept using windows 7 till this month and once I finally installed that abomination I immediately had to modify it too look like win 7. In the end it looks even better.
man i do have real good memories using windows xp. glad to see others share that feeling.
This is freaking awesome!
Damn, that's convincing. After years of completely unconvincing windows XP theme packs for Gnome and KDE, I wasn't expecting that
This is absolutely amazing, it's great to see that people actually make these modded Windows. I'd love to see one modded to look like Vista, I loved the look of that OS. Changed my 7 to look exactly like it, and had it for years up until 2017.
Thanks a lot this brought me a lot of good memories back :)
Nice video MJD!
Even the start menu look like xp
Would love to see this for windows 11 and kept up to date
I've managed to make Windows 11 look like Windows Vista. Has similar issues (although it can also be made to look like NT 4.0, 2000, XP, and maybe even Windows 7), but I'm planning on making it publicly available, once I get all of the pack's contents added.
Hell yeah man, waiting on it
Oh heck yeah
I have done the same with Windows 10
God damn that is well made. For some reason I expected another XP mimicking theme full of inaccuracies but this is amazing.
1:28 Oh! A short flash of XP-ness in the Win10-y startup sequence!
I'm literally impressed by this project! Particularly the Firefox with IE6 theme was WONDERFUL!
There is also an IE8 theme that supports Aero called Aerofox by the co-creator of this, nwin.

Was not me but that is something I would do. XP was my jam back in the day. Being an IT manager though I had to move on. Thanks for the video Michael
Sweet 😋 a new mjd video 📹 😍 I was just watching old ones...
this is really cool! i tried this for myself in a VM and outside of the bugs i completely forgot i was using windows 10
Could you do a video about homebrew and pretendo for the Wii U? When you started talking about your videos about customising windows for some reason I remembered the videos on which you showed mods for the Wii. I think a lot of people would be really interested in the things pretendo and what it brings back from the grave (like miiverse) and the servers for online play
this is so cool. i would love to see this done for vista
Nice, thanks for this
this is insane.....going down memory lane...just download it and will install tomorrow....delicious stuff
For those building a nostalgia XP PC/VM (like me), I recommend the Pale Moon version of Mypal + Moonfox3 theme if you want a modern browser with a 2000s Firefox look _and_ compatibility with classic FF add-ons. :D
To be honest, this recreation is pretty neat! It really captures the look of XP, obviously it's not perfect, but it's cool!

There is one, its called Project2k
they removed it with win8 because on 7 you can still activate the "classic" windows shell
@@emaneko22 it's still in windows 10 but it's in a slightly buggy state (as it's only kept around for apps that don't use uxtheme and it's only maintained for that purpose)
I've used a VM for Win2k, and it's a delight. It's just so.. snappy and practical.
Omg, I'm so impressed by this. It brings me so much joy to know people still care enough about Windows XP to do this.
I am disappointed because this is nothing but rose tinted nostalgia, that praises the worst aspect of windows xp, which was it's default cartoonish look. Windows xp was the ugly duckling of an os. Great OS but it looked so damn hideous. There is a reason why xp modding scene was so huge, with hundreds of good looking alternative themes and replacement icon packs(many of icon containing system .dlls and even explorer.exe were unsigned for this reason).. I mean when even MS made several better themes for xp, you know the default was so ugly.
This is my cup of tea. Thanks for shout out to this wonderful custom win 10
This was a pure nostalgia for me :)
would love to see one for Vista or 7, but I bet that would never happen
I absolutely loved the Vista theme, I changed my 7 to look exactly like Vista, even with the indented start orb. Actually used it up until 2017.
Vista Ultimate is still my favorite ❤️
I loved XP. Grew up playing World Of Goo (on CD-ROM) and Purble Place lol
I really hope that we get a version that is fully winXp'd so it could be properly viable as a usable OS without many bugs
I loved flying Strike Fighters: Project One on XP. What a great setup that was. This looks really cool.
looks sick!
This really convinced me into thinking it was Windows XP
I still genuinely think that WIndows XP looks the most appealing to me. Nostalgia or not, I just love how it looks. And I might really daily drive this (if it's viable for that, ahven't watched the full vid yet)
This is actually so cool
This is fascinating. I'd love more custom made windows
It baffles me as to why Microsoft is so adamant about not letting users choose older themes in their newer Windows versions. There's no good reason that we can't just have Aero or Luna or even the 9X themes added to Windows 10 or 11. Why are they so insistent on this new oversimplified UI to the point of discouraging customisation?
exactly !
Holy absolute crap, this is INSANE.
Huge congratulations to this guy. This is beautiful and I so want to find a use case for this.
Im gonna use this as a daily driver. I love this!!!
Michael Mjd, I watched your video 2 months ago on February 20,2023. I like this transformation pack, and thanks to Travis, and thanks for exporting this video.
Hey, thanks for the video!
I was expecting you to go through the task manager and show us what's actually running in the background. I was wondering if that modification actually gets rid of any of those useless services and background apps. I was also curios to see the ram and cpu usage while browsing.
This is what would probably matter to me the most if i'm installing this modification because most of us hate all that useless garbage running in the background!
Again, thanks for the video!

I might not want the full thing, but would love to know about the individual components. Like just getting the Luna theme would be pretty awesome ^^
All through out the video I was smiling.. while watching it, memories flashed back..
That Zune theme is really nice.
I actually use this on my laptop for work and school. Its really nice to have something that is Windows 10 but I know basically EXACTLY where everything is!
Does it work well enough to use it daily? I’m really considering installing this on my laptop for school because I love the look and few of windows xp
How well does it run on your laptop and what's the specs as I would love to set this up and running for college. ^^
Its just a cheap-ish 8th gen core i3 Asus netbook I got in 2018 or something. The thing is about it though, Its running on a semi outdated version of Windows 10, so it doesn't have all of the latest security updates, and it runs entirely on an Administrator account which means you run just about everything as administrator, giving anything access to changing things on your computer, but a good antivirus helps against this. Also setting up your own user account breaks the operating system from what I've been told as well.
@@MiniGramV That's slightly annoying about the user accounts. Does it run the same as normal when it comes to installing applications or is it locked down?
@@MiniGramV hmmm i think I’ll have to give it a shot myself then. It seems very promising though
I'm watching this because I heard about it on a Twitter thread quite recently and wanted to know a combination of 1) how usable it is as a main OS and 2) how relatively safe it is to install, since I don't trust other ISOs.
Either way, might use it in QEMU in the future
Edit: 1809 is honestly...mildly acceptable for KVM + QEMU but not if I'm running it with no virtualization, so rip
