I'm using XP right now... I've used all post-XP versions from Vista to 10 in a daily basis and, personally, in no one of them i feel so comfortable as i'm with XP; it just gets the work done, is stable and a lot less bloated than the newer versions and i don't have to fight with it to work correctly, like i've had to do with Vista/7/8/10. Unfortunately developers are moving towards newer environments and there's less software for XP, and given that every time fewer and more modern browsers are giving support to it, seems that the time to move on is coming. Nice touch with the remix from the XP's Welcome Music at the ending... :)
I wonder if the UI is a big factor in what defines a comfortable experience? Because while the interfaces for Vista+ are either very fancy or very flat, XP's looks more modest and inviting in comparison. XP is definitely far leaner than Vista+, although I'd politely disagree with it being less difficult to use. As for moving on from older software, it's a sad parting, but newer does mean more secure, and I'd say that's the primary reason MS wants people to upgrade, despite any disadvantages with the features and whatnot.
While I have XP installed on an old Pentium 4 HT machine mainly for legacy software, I have a Windows 10 Ryzen 3 machine as my daily driver, fully XP-ified. Really does rock my nostalgia socks.

Nice history, although, a more extensive version would be to explain more history on NT, 3.0, 3.51, and 4.0. Windows XP is still good today with VirtualBox. Go to ERPMAN's pages to get updates. Install SP 3 and update the installer. Update the IE to Explorer 8. Then it will still do Automatic Updates. There will be one that is 129 updates, and then you will be fairly complete. I use Panda Dome Free Antivirus for protection, although, I use either Lubuntu or ZorinOS if I want to go on the Internet with those machines. The advantage of XP is that one can use the older Windows programs, like Office 97-2007, (I use 2007), on the computer. Another huge advantage is that Windows XP just screams with 750 MB of RAM, whereas Vista and above really needs over 2 GB or RAM to have a nice experience.
Growing up, my parents used windows 95 for many years until Christmas Morning 2004 when we were gifted with a brand new HP Pavilion with Windows XP. Windows XP will NEVER die! I use it and enjoy it in a virtual machine every day. It is the most iconic OS Microsoft has ever released. XP was so popular back in the day (and rightfully so), that Microsoft had to support it for literally 12.5 years (or 17.5 years for ESU), which is a significantly longer lifespan than any other OS ever released. XP was the sole version of Windows to include ONLY improvements compared to its predecessors, in every single aspect -- stability, security, performance, appearance, interface, features, customizabilty, and more. Unlike any other version of Windows, XP did not remove any useful features and gave you complete and total freedom to customize the look and feel of your PC without having to rely on some hacks or third-party tools. Not to mention its unique and iconic sounds, as well as its default desktop background, which is by far the most calming and beautiful among all Windows versions. It actually became the most recognizable picture in the world, thanks to XP's huge popularity and people's understandable refusal to upgrade for so many years. For these reasons (and many more), XP will always have a special place in the hearts of so many people. Even today, 22.5 years after release and a full DECADE after support ended, XP is still used on approximately 9 million PCs around the world. It is insane, but not really surprising given how perfect this OS is!
Im using my Windows XP Professional on a Win Vista Capable Computer to view this video. Windows XP is really great if somebody never used it yet. I would recommended to try it on a Virtual Machine,

I have a lot of bonding with xp pro especially...the user experience is quite different...
I've used nearly every version of Windows ever made (from 3.11 all the way to 10). XP is still my favorite of them all :)
It's really cool seeing that classic Windows look slowly transform into the iconic XP Luna theme!
I had the windows XP but it needed a system recovery and I had no disk for it. That thing was my only fast computer.
Love your videos!
Growing up, my parents used windows 95 for many years until Christmas Morning 2004 when we were gifted with a brand new HP Pavilion with Windows XP. Talk about memories and learning the ways of the internet through this software. Shortly after support ended for XP my dad switched to Mac but XP still holds a place In my heart
I was shocked when I first booted into WinXP in 2001!
Aye, That’s me he’s talking about! Windows XP professional!!
XP was the first version I remember using, I hated it at the time but now it’s very nostalgic
The Neptune unique UI elements reminds me a lot of the XP-inspired PocketPC UIs that came shortly aftwards. Perhaps those were based on a halfway-thru spec?
When I was a kid,
Computer in home is such a sophisticated concept and computer is something that I use only at school rather than home but the OS of school computer is the 98 one
When XP arriving in my house for the first time
Me simply react "Wowwwww "
In the massive feeling of amazement
And accompanied my childhood with scoring high for Pinball games and rhythm games even though minus the internet
Thank You XP
In Loving Memory of XP

PHOTOGRAPHER? Bliss is a photo???
I WANNA GO THERE!
I remember having XP back in the day. I have fond memories of using it and it felt like the start of the modern PC world. Windows 10 feels like that for me also taking it to the next level.
15:08 “People claimed that Red Moon Dessert looked like a pair of buttocks”
Me: It doesn't look like a pair of buttocks, I think they look in a different way :p
sunburn

I remember back when XP got released critics slammed it for being a huge resource hog for the average hardware at the time as well as the online activation requirement. It was still a great OS back then. The perfect mix of 9x/ME and Windows 2000 rolled into 1 OS.
15:11 I don't see the resemblance of buttocks
I do. LMFAO
meanwhile i feeling like i do see it
kinda thicc.
Love the Windows development series keep them coming!
13:50 the clouds on the top left were never visible, right?

I really like these! Super informational and really cool to see the evolution! I look forward to more of these!
I kind of like the watercolor theme. On devian art someone ported it so you can use it on XP.
IMO the watercolor theme and visuals in the earlier builds look better than the final version
I love XP, I'm watching this video on my XP POS 2009 Machine right now!. It works very nicely. Tweaked and Themed to Perfection. Mypal for browser and Mozilla Thunderbird for e-mail. Thanks for the history!
I use in my virtual machine, windows XP brings me some good memories...
Completely agree with the Whistler boot screen. The best by a long shot. Though for Window decorations, my heart lies with Win 2K.
To be honest, Windows XP is the king O.S
-Every linux user-

There exists an XP image for phones, tho I haven't yet tried it. (Need more expendable hardware, in case it bricks something)
You still use Windows 98 as your main os?
WindowsFan13, yep

I like the clarity of this video.

Whistler boot screen hadn't seen that one till today, easily the best ever - I agree!
Im using my Windows XP Professional on a Win Vista Capable Computer to view this video.
Windows XP is really great if somebody never used it yet. I would recommended to try it on a Virtual Machine,
You just gave me a idea
Awesome video, Michael!
