- 2001-2005 Honda Civic 1.7 DNA Motoring Header Installed
I finally bought a aftermarket 4-1 header for my 2003 Honda Civic 1.7. I paid $50 on Amazon.
Link below! Enjoy!
www.amazon.com...
The exhaust manifold found on the 2001-2005 Honda Civic D17 SOHC Non-VTEC 4 Cylinder Engine were designed to combine the exhaust gasses from each of the cylinders quickly with a manifold that was cost effective to produce. Our 4-1 off-road racing headers are designed to allow the exhaust gasses to flow more freely from each cylinder and combine in a more efficient manner. Tubing has been optimized for the 1.7L engine. This creates a reduction in cylinder backpressure and improved exhaust gas velocity. These improvements free up lost horsepower and torque. An added benefit is a more performance oriented exhaust sound.
Made of high quality steel with 4-1 direct bolt-on designTIG welded CNC machine flangeO2 sensor and EGR bung insertion / Metal gasket included / Inlet: 1.5" / Outlet: 2"Increase high flow air, instantly gain 10 to 15 Hp. / TqApplication: Please check part finder on top of the page (Professional Installer is Highly Recommended) (No Instruction Included)

I installed these I would recommend no check engine light better performance and sound
Agreed! ☝
Hey hows it working out???guys I'm about to do the same thing to my 03 LX civic ...dang po420 codes I l
Awesome video dude! Thinking of getting this for my project D17. Thanks for the inspiration!
You defiantly should bro way worth it!
Hi I’m about to order this, sadly I have to deal with this since it won’t pass CA emissions but before doing so I have a 2001 Honda Civic lx coupe and for having a non-vtec you’re the first I’ve seen mod one that is. So you inspired me to do so, at least something to learn and fuck around with in the mean time. Don’t mind being caller a ricer, in time when I build enough credit, I’m thinking about a nice Focus ST or RS
I have a crack surround my whole manifold*
Okay try doing the check engine bypass. Look it up
Gaming & Cars does the co2 smell ever go away? I’m on my first day and it’s so unbearable
I’ve been tinkering with American V8s for years and headers have always been a big help. Does a good intake and headers wake up the civics at all?
Not really no it’s honestly kinda gay you need 3 inch back with uel headers and prelude injectors to wake the civic up haha just headers and an exhaust add like 5 hp 😂 with the uel headers prelude injectors you get like 20 hp added and sounds nuts
@@dailyshivicshenanigans6537what year prelude injectors and they fit in the d17a1?
a lot of wind and noise in the video along with the music which got in the way of hearing the difference between the two manifolds but i'm no dummy i know the difference and i'm also no hater that would dislike the video because of it. i;m gonna go ahead and like this! good work!
Lol thanks man. It is definitely worth it
Headers are made of stainless still which is lighter than cast iron exhaust manifold. Stainless steel gets your hood hotter. I donno if it is a good idea.
I think you forgot the two top bolts lol
i bought my 03 civic used a couple of months ago as a running project. my headers are stock but they dont have that large cylinder on the bottom like these do. Just wondering if you know what that is and if i need it on the stock part?
The catalytic converter? Most headers won't have them
Whats the name of the bag that goes over the air filter?
I think you're actually losing power. I watched the before and after and the speed is the same or even less with the headers. It's most likely because you need a tune. I have this car as a daily, would love to get new headers like these. Great video.
Stupid hes gaining power obviously you dont know about cars
@@jesustorres2959 actually, Jesus, he’s right. If you add a part and don’t tune, you can gain 0 to reduced horsepower. Adding a cat less header, in this case, can reduce back pressure which would result in a loss of power. New part doesn’t always go vroom.
So with that said… TUNE YOUR CARS PEOPLE!
@@nsemlak09 how do I find someone to tune my civic??
It seems that the stock ECU is not tunable and there is no hondata option for this civic either. Wonder if anyone managed to do it right.
What kit did you use for ram intake?
U should titanium heat wrap it and did u tune it afterwards or was it that drastic of a power difference with the fresh air intake there to merit a tune?
I reset the ecu thats it. So it can learn the idle again...yes u noticed a huge power gain and a huge deep sound compared to the stock one
@@GGRUclipsr5958how do you reset it?
Bruh I got a d17a1 in my 2005 civic, it sounds just amazing stock with just the air box removed. You don't even have to remove the oem filter and housing. But anyways when I make my Honda civic mod video it's gonna be a vr38dett full awd swap. But yea give me hope to see 05 civic sedan some kind of exposure
Way more power = 2 extra hp
That’s like a 30% gain for a civic!!!
Do they have for ex vtec??
so, with the new header having no catalytic converter like the stock exhaust manifold did, how did you keep from throwing engine codes and how do you pass inspection?
Tbh! It didn't throw a code till about 600 miles later . Then it went off. I check it with scanner. It was for catalytic converter...so I just kept driving and it would come on and off randomly....No it doesn't come on at all. So I dunno how that is lol. But if you need to pass I'd say use a spark plug Fowler from AutoZone. RUclips spark plug Fowler oxygen sensor. Oh and I live in nm. No Emissions!!
Oh ok. Yeah that was what was holding me back from doing the header because I live in NC :(
Yeah I'd keep the stock one on go get you your tag and emissions done. Then put the aftermarket one on lol. Just keep the stock one when you need it again. It's 2 bolts and very easy to install.
GTA 5 Online & Cars I’ve heard as long as you can control the amount of electrical signal going back to the computer or something like that your good do ya know much on this? I don’t know the electrical side of shit, I know the defoulers dumb out the exhaust exposure so shit reads better anyway but I haven’t fully read up on how the electric shit for it goes.
If you've got a DX/LX (anything other than the EX with the A2 head) you have to swap to an EX D17A2 exhaust system in order to have an aftermarket header that passes smog (like in CA).
idk if anyone can help be but I recently installed these headers on my car and have a gas leak at the bottom flange connecting to the downpipe how would I get rid of that gas leak?
Did it come with a gasket ?
@@GGRUclipsr5958 yes it did, it might be the hangar that's holding the downpipe up that needs to be modified bc it's now wanting to seat fully in aswell as the bolt.. now I tried to tighten it but ended up stripping the bolt but seeing the design I might be able to just turn the screw upside down and using the other side. I'm going to a muffler shop tomorrow to see if they can modify the hangar bracket to hold up the exhaust better as well as tighten the area that's leaking all the way down and just to be safe get a new gasket.
did you also change the entire exhaust or just the catalytic converter/header? if you did where did you buy the exhaust to fit with the converter?
I did just the header. I would highly recommend changing the whole exhaust it needs to breath better. The stock exhaust is tiny.
Muy BUENO TRABAJÓ MAS VIDA PARA EL MOTOR SALUDOS DE GA
Would there be any reason why this DNA headers is getting hot when starting up put part on 2001 Honda civic lx also has check engine light after I installed part
Yes it will get very hot and change color. Heat cycles when you drive the car. Its normal. Check engine light should go off soon. If not there is a method to bypass it
@@GGRUclipsr5958 can you tell me how to bypass it
RUclips it. Type in bypass check engine light. You basically go to autozone and buy a spark plug Fowler. If you watch a video on it. It shows u how. Very easy and very cheap to fix.
Anything to complain or concerns or comments? I'm thinking of getting for my car , good quality does it last?
I installed recently on my 2001 Honda Civic Lx 1.7 it was running good with no check engine light for two days and it pop up and I’m wondering how to delete that code
Meme Plot maybe you didn’t tighten everything up right idk 🤷♂️
I installed the same 6 months ago.Put a defouler on the secondary 02 sensor.Used 35.00 harbor freight CenTech engine scan tool to erase the code and all is good.
Does the exhaust smell when deleting the cat?
Yeah every time my car is running u smell all the exhaust bad outside the car.
CAN INSTALL THIS ON MY HONDA CIVIC 2003 VTECH COUPE ?
No check engine light?
No
my friend has a '02 Civix & trying to convince him to at least get headers for it, he also has a short ram intake
I have a '96 Corolla with 4-2-1 headers from ebay but the stock O2 sensor doesn't fit since it's slightly smaller than the bung hole on my headers
can a muffler shop make something to have my O2 sensor reconnected?
*civic*
damn typo
Hey man... One question?? After you got this all installed How did it end up sounding? I have the same car and i have a full exhaust by Megan and it still has a crazy raspy sound. Id love to eliminate that noise... Any ideas?
Sounds deeper man after. To get rid of that ricer raspy sound you have to keep your resonator
@@GGRUclipsr5958 so I've got a resonator and still a rasp noise at about 4 to 5000 rpm's. Someone was telling me that the headers are what cause that noise... Everything else sounds great.
@@dallaswiller Alright well ya they didnt give my car a raspy sound
@@GGRUclipsr5958 sweet.... I'll buy a set of DNA headers and see what happens. I'll update you with the process and progress. Thanks for hitting me up.
@@dallaswiller No problem sounds good yo!
What size is that bolt at 2:00? I lost mine
What song was that towards the end?
Much better, it’s ridiculous how constrictive the stock downpipes can be. I was ashamed of Subaru when I removed the down pipe and saw the amount of unused space blocking flow through my turbo.
You gonna change that power steering fluid?
Right! I was very surprised how much better the air flow was compared to stock. I will change it soon when I get a chance I honestly thinking about doing a power steering delete!
Derrick D don’t think about it anymore lol it’s not as great as it seems imho. I just did my buddies Civic PSF and used the Prestone Synthetic Asian. I would have preferred to use the Prestone Honda/Acura specific blend but Wallyworld was out. I know the Honda power steering systems are touchy with the fluid type that’s put in them so I want to flush his again with the Prestone Honda ish rather than a wide range ish
Tony P Well anything helps lol I'm still thinking about it...Nice yeah I use Honda AutoZone brand power steering fluid or the Honda Prestone brand and they both seem to work fine. It's been 30k since I replaced all my fluids. I keep track down to the mile on everything I do to my car lol.
Derrick D I’m a stickler when it comes to fluids. Drives me nuts to see dirty/low fluids in someone’s car. They’re cheap enough to just keep clean fluid in. I do my power steering at 30k intervals too. Mine just takes ATF though, and got plenty of that around the garage. I have a separate entry in notepad for all of my machines. Tractor, WRX, motorcycle, power washer, etc lol
My buddy with the Civic blew his engine in his old car by neglecting fluids and spending money on decals, LED strips, and neon Fast & Furious items. So, now he’s listening to me and giving me free reign to tune his ish up. Gonna do his plugs next.
Listen to this.. his old vehicle, the one he blew the engine.. His mom got him the branded Fast & Furious shift knob and the F&F LED exhaust tip. Firstly, it couldn’t have gotten more corny.. the neon tube in the shift knob had a loud high frequency sound constantly. Then, he installed it wrong and wired the exhaust tip to his turn signal so it blinked every time he put his turn signal on. That was before wiring his floor LED strips incorrectly and started an engine bay fire..It was hilarious... all of it..
Yea I need to change mine haha nice yeah I am same way. That's halarious OMG haha. You should defiantly run some sea foam thru it and adjust the valves. After I adjusted mine it ran so much better.
What is that bottom piece called ? The one that goes on the bottom and it goes around that thing
Julio Rubalcava gasket
Did it mount up to the factory pipe? Or is it a full aftermarket exhaust from the header back
Replaced exactly what I show. Connects right to the existing down pipe.
Que onda bro, pásame el modelo porfa, ey dude, share me the model please
Thanks for your video, question..? where can i get this?? Amazon does not have it anymore
Thanks
I got it from Amazon
Will the CEL come on since theres no catalytic convertor on the header?
Yes. Mine actually goes on then off it's very weird.
@@GGRUclipsr5958 ohhh okay, yours an ex model or lx? Mines is an ex
It's a Lx model
Weird thing is that the ex model dont have catalytic converter built into the header
where u get that red cover bit on top of the grill
Its the stock on thats on the car i just painted it! lol Take it off and make sure its very clean and then hit it with some spray paint.
Does this fit the em2 d17a2 (Vtec)
It should.
where are you buy your heder
Amazon. Get the one that comes with the 2 bolts and a exhaust gasket.
His # tag really corny lmfaoo buh video came in handy
So I did have a? Where did you connect the second sencer too cause I saw that the manifold have two location's for it.
Ya there is one on the left and one on the right. It has both holes
@@GGRUclipsr5958 where on the car. I have only two a downstream and upstream.
I only have 2 also. Watch before I install the header I put the 2 sensors on the header it self before installing. Then when you install. Just click them both in where you disconnected them from. Let me know if you get it.
you get obd code cause of that?@@GGRUclipsr5958
You lost power bro, 50 bucks & misaligned holes means restriction & not as much sir going through as before with factory aligned headers.
Your wrong. Sorry....I gained power.
Did that Exhaust manefold pass the smog test?
No or emissions
Model number please
I know this is old, i've been trying to find these headers on amazon and ebay with no luck. I have tried the link(broken cause its old) please help me!
They should be on amazon?
@@GGRUclipsr5958 they're not unless they're listed under a different name now.
What engine do you have the d17a1 or d17a2? Is it a em2 or es1?
@@GGRUclipsr5958 d17a1 es1, I ended up finding a set on ebay from a private seller. I'm in cali so emissions are an issue for shipping. Thanks for your time anyways though!
Ebay got em mines just came in today
Power gain is from deleting the cat
Agreed
Will this fit my 2005 d15 engine?
No
whats with all the gta hashtags
Why is your motor loud af
Not sure
@@GGRUclipsr5958 I just got a 03 civic and that sucker has no HP also is it normal to have 3k rpm at 65 mph
Lol ya they kinda have a high rpm at high speeds. The 4 speed automatic transmission..for hp. I would do a muffler delete... intake. Either Cold air or short ram. Keep ur engine oil clean and learn how to do your valve lash! It will make your car run way better 100%. How many miles is on your car ?
@@GGRUclipsr5958 243k lol
Nice
Lmao i see u tried to jb weld/furnace cement your previous crack. Same shit scenario here nothing took so now time for cat delete dna header lol.
yeah haha
your civic seems like something is wrong with the motor the engine shouldn't sound like that
It runs great 250k miles and going strong.
@@GGRUclipsr5958 alright just making sure u were aware that it shouldn't sound like that and an engine swap should be easy af if u ever decide to swap done it many times on the EM2 body
