    Thank you fro that Soft Shackle tutorial, When I was a kid this man who lived down on the corner, he was into off road racing. He would let me hang out and learn about wrenching and preparing a rig to race. He was getting a Toyota Land Cruiser with a Chevy V8 in it for the first Baja 1000. He was the president of NORRA that created the Baja races. His name is Ed Pearlman, I long for those days, just hanging out and learning. Take care and stay safe.

    Ceramic knives work better on dyneema/spectra. Rather than push with a fid, you can pull with a bent wire. Seizing wire about 2.5 feet long, folded in half. The ends wrapped around a handle. Insert the sharp bend at your exit point and push through your entry point. Feed the very end of your rope between the wires and pull through.

      @Bear agreed. Army basic training stand was to strip the core for tethering gear. 1 it was tighter and a better presentation. 2 typically avoid by 1, if got snagged it would snap before you. With the core you are getting broke not the tether.

    What is the knot called. Its knot a monkey fist is it?

    • @bear4380
      @bear4380 Год назад +1

      The knot is called a Button knot. It is identified by seeing that the working ends exit the knot next to and parallel to the standing ends when done. This just means that the ends come out where they went in. It allows you to bury the ends and make a nice clean looking knot. Sof shackles made in thinner rope like 1-5mm Dyneema use a Diamond knot where the ends come out the top of the knot. These knots aren’t sinnest to the loads of off-road use. The diamond knot is also not as thick as the button knot.
