I bought a 2008 TaurusX new. Got the Limited edition with most of the features. I’ve said many times it was Fords best kept secret. I had a 2007 Ford Freestyle before this car. My wife was in an accident with my adult son. The car was totaled but neither pax were hurt! My son said “Dad if we were in anything else we’d both be dead!” I now have 181,000 miles on it and still love it. As you said you can put a ton of stuff in the car. It’s very comfortable to drive and I have driven cross country with it. It’s still peppy although it’s due for its second tune up. Good car.
It is a good car. Just not very attractive. Useful though! See the Playlist for everything we did to this car. ruclips.net/p/PLVsdJzatTm_U6vLO2d-bN57scWnRH8l3k
I do that with every car I own. Especially older ones. Reset the computer and things often get BETTER. Especiallty after a tune-up or replacement of major components or sensors, exhaust, spark plugs, etc etc.
It is clear that you’ve done a ton of work to this thing! Any chance that this is still available? I just sent you an email with my contact information from the Craigslist add I saw!
ive got my PCM corrupted by ford dealership. they try to reprogram, after that the engine and traction control lights on. they said that they already input the code manually. until now am driving with the traction control on. engines light off. and dont know what they did.
did you ever have to replace the water pump on this one? You always hear that like the transmission it is a very expensive to replace on the Ford 3.5 motor
I drive it regularly. Never a problem. It is now my "SUV" that I haul stuff around. Mainly because it can load tons more stuff than my other "SUV" Hummer H3 Alpha. As well as get far better gas mileage than the Hummer... :) I like the T-Rex. It's just not an attractive car.. Hhahah
I have a 2008 Taurus X been sitting in the driveway a year or more because my trans is going out.Do you remember how much it was to get the trans rebuilt? Thanks
@@HorsepowerHouse Woah!Yep that's more than half what they're bringing today.I will probably still do it though.Hard to find a vehicle with that much cargo area for the price to fix it.Thanks for the quick reply.
@HorsepowerHouse I finally got it done.4,400 for a refurbished tyranny with 150,000 mi warranty. Then they tacked on another 400 when I went to pick it up.I hope I didn't make a mistake as the rest of the car is immaculate condition.Already had a 4 new rotars replaced before tyranny went out or I wouldn't haven't invested so much.Wish me luck lol.
That’s correct the 6 speed automatic was the only transmission available as Ford up graded the engine from a 3.0 liter (in the Freestyle) to the 3.5 liter in the Taurus X.
As I said earlier this was Fords best kept secret. It’s a fantastic vehicle. Up to 7 Pax, mine is 6 as I have Captains chairs with a consul in the second row. This is a cross over and not a van as it has four doors and no sliding doors. Ford brought out the Flex in 2008 and stopped making the TaurusX in 2009. Flex was a bit bigger I think but had many of the same features. The Flex lived on until 2020 I think when Ford discontinued many models to concentrate on Trucks and SUV’s.

Love the tip about resetting the computer - really looking forward to watching this channel!

I'm likely going to keep it. The only way I would sell it is if the offer were really strong.... Definitely not going to give it away.

Take it somewhere else

I haven't. I only did the transmission. $3,000
@@HorsepowerHouse Thanks - good to hear
I mean to say good to hear you didn't have to replace it, it's supposed be an expensive job on the 3.5 motor

way more than the car is worth. over $3,000.

I had mine done. And the car has been great for two years since. 🙂

What transmission does he have? Automatic or CVT?
6-speed automatic

We just got 2009 .. get around car
We have many videos about this car that might help you. See playlist link.
I heard this was ford's biggest flop since the Edsel.
It is a really good and useful car. But when the market crash of 2008 hit - they weeded out any lesser selling cars, like many manufacturers did.

This car is a piece of crap and I know because I own one. It is a death trap with many issues.
Nah. I had mine for many years (2015-2021). Was a great car.
