I absolutely adore the jervenbag. It's simple to deploy, works everywhere and is warm as heck. I have the extreme version and it works year around here in Finland.
You can sleep on top of snow without any sleeping pads with it during winter
Do you overheat in summer?
do you need a sleeping bag with in above 5 degrees Celsius if you set it up as an enclosed bivy on a ridgeline?
Camouflage fascinates me, not just military, especially animal camouflage. This pattern/item is great,I'd like to take one of these things back to the Rockies with me.
Oh Bjorn! The things you do for our education and entertainment!
I don't know why but the way that camo blends in to the rock is blowing my mind
It is really good. You can understand why the army here in Norway uses them.
Absolutely, and even though it's the lighter colors, it would be great here in Tennessee where moss covers the trees heavily from the base up to a meter or two
I love the JervenBag. It's my all around life insurance outdoors. I use it for everything. Hammockquilt, Bivvy bag. Overcoat. Sitting place. Extra for my sleeping bag in very cold weather in Hardangervidda. I have many videos using it. I love it.
I wondered about the cammo pattern when I saw Lars with this on Survival Russia. Seeing it on the rock it makes sense to me now. I've never seen a cammo pattern that so closely matches the terrain. That is simply awesome. Thanks for sharing, love your videos, keep up the great work!
Yes, it is really good. (I was that video as well.) The pattern fits mountain/coastal areas here in Norway and Sweden, it's made for that.
Great to see you again my friend. It is good to see you back up there. I am not monetised either.Sleeping on rock can really take it's toll on my hips and shoulders. This looks like a good system. I would be more inclined to sleep alongside that rock after a good fire to warm it up. Would be a great sleep eh. The poncho bag is just great. That and a bed of moss will guarantee an overnight survival in rough conditions.I spent 3 days in a snow cave in the Arctic waiting out a storm and although bored got a lot of good sleep. I welcome your versions. All good today my friend. Many thanks eh ! Nice touch with the threshold my friend.
Very impressive, my friend. Three days under such conditions! Glad you liked the video.
Yes! Please make videos on building shelters! That would be amazing
Coming up!
you are the perfect spokesman for the jervenbag, so many cool uses!
I just got one of these, I have my hammock strung up outside with the Jerven around it like a cocoon. Waiting for it to cool off a bit more to go try it out! (Edit) I forgot to add how absolutely amazing the camouflage is! Wow, just disappears against that rock.
Hi Bjorn
I have two of these Jervenbag's iv used these through out the year in my hammock and they are great peace of kit to have.
Nicely done, Bjorn. The video is informative and easy to watch. The Jervenbag is definitely something to consider, given the info and practical demonstration you provided. The camo pattern is perfect for the rock upon which you were using it. It's scary. You could hide for days on that rock.
I know, the pattern really blends in on those rocks. You wouldn't be able to see it from some distance. Glad you liked the video!
big yes to zideo on survival shelters...
Thanks. Then survival shelter videos it is!
Hi Bjorn, Once again thank you for sharing this video with us all.
Thank you, mr Maisey!
Thanks for all you do!
Thanks Bjorn, the sound was good and i enjoyed your video and review on the new gear.
Thanks, Brett.
Hi. I always thought our own gear was some of the best, guess what ... we are now ordering Jerven bags. Fantastic stuff. Greetings from the (now much warmer) Alps. Thanks for the good videos. C. :-)
Very cool emergency bag looks very warm and cosy, I’m guessing your emergency bag will stay in your car so it’s always to hand if you need it.
Thank you again for taking us on one of your adventures.
Thanks, my friend. It is very wise to keep it in the car. I will remember that.
Bjørn, You are the MAN‼️
Love how your all in your heritage
I'm not into the military camouflage thing either, but I have to say, that blends amazingly well on that lichen and Moss covered rock. The only thing that gave it away, on screen at least, was the shadow the material threw on the rock in some places.
Would love to see some videos on shelter building Bjorn. Who knows, passing on such knowledge may save someone's life.
That is a good point. It could. Many people are suggesting that I should do such videos, so I'm getting ready for that now.
I know a guy that used to have a shelter similar to that, bus his shelter was an old gutted schoolbus, with a cast-iron woodstove. He nailed up a compartment containing a Cabin's Log and pencil/pen. People were pretty good about not messing with your stuff if you couldn't hike it all back at one time.
Love it!! move over Versachi!! That's not even camo, that's an invisibility cloak!!
Thank you once again a great video out in the wilds, be well my friend.
Hello Bjorn, after six years, it would be fascinating to hear if you're still using it. A long-term review from you would be invaluable. Thanks for sharing your insights!
Another informative video and with that amazing scenery! I really need to get to Norway! (or move to - now to convince my wife! lol)
You would be very welcome here!
your summers are cooler than my winters, im envious
Wow..what a giant stone..woww..the rock..I like your voice..your speak-style..it is relaxing and kind!
Thank you, Marta. Very nice of you to say that.
Hey greetings from the eastern Catskill mountains. That bag is a brilliant piece of kit. I love the camo.. there are lots of rocks here that look like that. i think i am going to track one down..
I can't believe how close that camo is to the rock! Very cool. 😎
I use the Gatewood Cape SMD (poncho tarp with much success), however, in the snow it gets a bit chilly with the open floor.
Bjorn, I would love to see a follow up video on the Viking Ship.
I will do that, but at the moment I am waiting to see what the decision will be about the digging.
Gratulerer med fantastisk anmeldelse fra Dagbladet Bjørn!
Vell fortjent.
Snake
A very informative video bjorn, I also like that camo very much 👌 and would very much like to see a shelter building video 👍 can’t wait for next week.
Thanks a lot! As mentioned above, there will be shelter building videos coming up.
Love your honesty!
Thanks!
Hærlig underholdning til morgen kaffen. Ja takk til bivuakk videoer💪👏
Takk, Erlend! Da blir det slike videoer nå snart.
Imagine that...3, my favorite number!
Wow that camo is perfect!
Thank you for the great video I would love to see some survival shelter videos.
Coming up!
I love this kind of videos. Just please keep doing.
Thank you, I will!
Whoa that camo is amazing !!!
Wow Bjorn, you looked like part of the stone in that bag. It amazing how well it blends in with that stone. Thank You for your opinion on these things. It is very annoying with motors running in the sky, seems you can't get away from all the noise sometimes. I don't know how people take all the noise in the cities. I suppose I am glad many people like the city, else they'd be in the country making inoises. I wish you Love, Light, Peace and many many quiet times in the woods! DaveyJO in Pennsylvania
It took me some time to figure out how to leave a comment for you, Bjorn... something has changed in my laptop it seems. I wanted to tell you that Your videos have been very helpful for me. I live near the Adirondacks and the region looks amazingly like the areas where you camp. I am sure you would love it here... woods, waterfalls, rivers, lakes...just wonderful. But I grew up in the desert around Arizona and never got to camp in the deep woods. I moved out of the desert and now I live near the forests and I love building a camp. setting up a fire and enjoying the Life around me. You seem to answer many of the questions I have about how to do it (camping) well. I am a Norse re-enactor as well as being an artist sculptor. I would very much like to send you a little token of my appreciation, but I don't know how to find your address. I have been casting things in bronze as well as making tafl games in wood and ceramic. It would please me greatly if I could send you some little item in appreciation for the knowledge you share with us all. I am a subscriber, so if you'd like a Tafl game or a cooking pot based on Norse finds, let me know. thanks again.
I have a couple of the Jervens bags, the Original, Thermo Hunter and the Kingsize, all great bags I have used them down to -25 C. The oreinal make a good coat/ bivi.
Awesome, that is good to know!
Good video Bjorn, subscribed.
Great video Bjorn, I'll have to check it out
I can recommend it, Richard.
Hah excellent ski sailing sounds like a blast!
Yes. I haven't done it in many years now, but it's great fun.
Awesome bag looks like it should be warm in colder conditions. But yeah some natural shelter videos would be great. Let’s just hope nobody steals your firewood for the next time, the people stealing must think it’s some magic dwarves putting it there for them haha.
I know, it's frustrating. But I will look into the natural shelter building more closely in upcoming videos.
Great vid there Bjorn thank you
Glad you liked it!
Quite a Handy kind of Garment.
Nice, very nice.
Yes, I like it a lot.
Hi Bjorn, I enjoy very much watching your videos. I like it that you do so many different things on your channel, you give lectures, you camp and make fires, you talk conservative politics, you have live broadcasts, you invite others to discuss with you on your channel, you do gear reviews, and more. Really good work, and very informative. If I may just point out, the green scarf you're wearing in this video, I'm sure you're wearing it as a fashion accessoire. I wanted to ask you whether you were aware of the politically conflicting message which conveys itself with the pattern on your scarf, the keffiyeh? "Free Palestine" and stuff. As an Israeli viewer, I just wanted to point that out respectfully. Many thanks for all that you do!
I would like to say Bjorn that I did not laugh when you were putting the bag on but, I cannot lie.......I was impressed with the bag and the camo was a perfect match for the rock. Maybe you already have named it in another video but may I ask the make of your bush saw please.
Sorted. Watched another video and you gave the name of the saw. Thank you
Nice arm ring!!
Yes, I really like it!
Great video, it was very informative and entertaining.
SurvivalAustria
Thank you, glad you liked it!
Bra och informativ video som du brukar, toppen! Men, vilken jervenduk är det du har? Hunter?
Today and tomorrow is the annual "Autumnal historical viking crafts fair" (that´s a very rough translation i made up just now, sorry) at the viking museum at Haithabu.
I´ll be there from around 12:30 aswell.
If you are in the general area, maybe pop by. I always like it and always find something nice to buy there.
Great video as always Bjorn. One question for you, when you wear the high rubber boots, how do you keep the insulation inside the boot from becoming wet from your sweat and giving you cold feet?
Thanks
Nate
Saw your shelter at the end, wished you'd had shown it.
Would you consider doing a video series where you built a makeshift viking longhouse? (small version of course) in the woods? then you can make things around it like fences and stuff
Thanks, Veronica. That sounds like a big project, but I will absolutely consider it.
@@BjornAndreasBull-Hansen or you could do a video of rating your subscribers shelters to see how efficient, well made and sturdy they would be?
Veronica Gray Good idea!
Thanks for the info!
Thanks for commenting, Elwyn!
Which bug repellent device do you use? I need a good one for camping in central Texas. Thanks for all the great videos! I’ve been watching for a year or so and really appreciate the Viking history and bush craft the way you present it!
I have been using and reviewing the Thermocell all summer and autumn. It works really well.
Bjorn Andreas Bull-Hansen thanks! Think I’ll grab one and check it out.
I saw these in the G sport store in Norway, but didn't know what they were. I wish I knew then, because we can't buy them here. Seems like a great product
There's are very good, I have one on order.
Can you see the Northern Lights from your Lavvu and camping area?
I have, but very rarely. You'd really want to go much further north in Norway to see it.
I am thinking of visiting next year at Christmas with my son, or perhaps the year after, and camping out in the snow under the lights. The wife, she is smarter than us, will stay in a hotel.
@@BjornAndreasBull-Hansen Thank you for the reply. I am in the planning stage of my trip to Norway, possibly next Christmas/New Year or the following year. My son and I desire to camp out in the snow under the lights. My wife, she is smarter than us, desires to stay in a hotel. My first thought is to visit Austraat near Trondheim where some of my family is from, and then go up to Senja or Nordcapp.
Great video shame folks don’t think the same as you and help restore the little hut .
that's a nice bag, double lined I bet it was warm. I was having trouble distinguishing between it and the rock. when will you be putting the door on the lavvu?
I just did. You'll see it in the next video.
O.O I didnt think they had caterpillars that far north .... and it turned into a Viking , who knew .
What kind of boots are you wearing? They look awesome!
A pair of tall Outlast, I believe the brand is called. They are lined with neoprene and the rubber outside keeps the ticks from getting onto my legs. I really like them. They are very comfortable.
Sorry, it’s Tretorn, not Outlast.
Bjorn, good video :D. I have a question. Im doing my final school project about the vikings and their gods, could you maybe help me with it because i need an expert?
Let'sVentrox Send me an email and I’ll see what I can do (mail address on the Info page, but you’ll have to use a computer to see it.)
@@BjornAndreasBull-Hansen I sent you an email :)
This is a very cool bag... thanks Bjorn for bringing it to our attention. I can not find this on Amazon and I don’t see it on your items list. Could you provide a link? I’ve enjoyed your videos. We live in similar territory. I am from Maine in the USA.
jon davis You’ll find it at jerven dot com
jon davis Thanks, glad you like them!
Well it works as an invisibility cloak that helicopter didn’t find you.
Expensive but multifunctional I will purchase one.
Know what you mean by know someone has been in area, the question is. How do we know when there is no physical property to this, to just know with out a physical reason
Best outdoor gear
I have been looking for one of these, ship one to the UK.
That is a real good look alike camo pattern. Very noisy material. Would like to see it in a fleece.. or wool. Would love to sè some landscape and wildlife video. Anything done with the drone is awsome. You really can't stand the progress of your fellow man. Ya know what caused that helicopter and all the houses going in don't ya ? Sex good old fashioned love making.
Which model is this? I have Jerven Extreme, but find it too bulky, so it stays in my car. I want something lighter for hunting
i see youve gone to the folding mattress ... cant deflate ;)
Yes, I learned a lesson...
what is that beautiful music called that you played on the background ?
"It said 'Norge' or something on the side". If you get that reference you get 50 points.
How is your wildlife photography going? I thought I wanted to do that but then I realized how dangerous and difficult it is. I didn’t think I’d do well watching animals eat each other and I didn’t want to only photograph plants so I decided not to go in that direction.
Salve de Brasil!
Oi meu amigo!
Amo seus vídeos, your videos are beautifully produced and enjoyable to watch! Continue assim, amigo!
I think u building natural shelter would be cool especially some like the Vikings would make
I will probably be doing exactly that.
Be careful when bending that bracelet, I had one that broke about a year ago. But it was a lot thinner than that one, so you might be ok.
I will keep that in mind, thank you!
👍
Hei!
@@BjornAndreasBull-Hansen Tusen takk!
