    The taxes seem insanely high. Are there any homestead exemptions?

      Florida has our save our homes exemption and yes St Lucie County Florida property taxes are higher than most other areas in the state. There are a few trade offs, These same NEW HOMES in Port St Lucie that only cost $450,000 - $600,000 would cost 25%-30% higher in nearby Martin County and almost double in nearby Palm Beach County Florida when comparing apples to apples etc. I just compared a few Divosta homes in the Avenir community in Palm Beach Gardens Florida which offered most of the same floor plans as Veranda Gardens in Port St Lucie and the prices are almost $350K-$450K higher for the same new construction home. Property tax millage rate in Palm Beach Gardens is around 1.9 currently so I tell buyers would you rather buy a home for much less money and pay higher taxes or pay a higher purchase price elsewhere and then your yearly tax bill will much higher anyways etc

      No. Unless your boat can fit in the garage etc.
