I think the biggest advantage is as you mentioned, the range. I love how it overlaps both the 14-36 and 70-200. Unless you just have to have f2.8 or f2 then not having to change lenses from say a 24-70 to the 70-200 is big time savings. Now if you know in advance that you want extra wide or long telephoto then of course the other lenses would be your first choice.
I have no problems. I find this lens as sharp as my RF 70-200 f2.8. I love this lens and keep it on my camera most of the time unless I am doing something that requires f2.8 or better. Given the ISO performance of an R6 MKII, I see no downside.
I think it is a better lens than the EF version. It seems to be a bit sharper and has a bit more contrast. You just cannot beat its versatility. If you go out not knowing what you are going to shoot, you can shoot just about anything but subjects that require a longer reach. On the wide side, 24MM is plenty wide for most things.
I also enjoyed seeing something other than a covered bridge! I would have liked to see a few more shots a varied perspectives, but as it was COLD, nevermind! Cheers, Ted
I have only 3 lenses: the rf 24-105 f/4, the rf 100-400, and the rf 16mm, along with the 1.4 converter (which only goes with the 100-400 when I am looking for small birds, for example). The 24-105 f/4 is on my R5 80% of the time, the 100-400 on 12% of the time, the 100-400 with the converter 4% of the time, and the rf 16mm 4% of the time. I am pleased with all of them. My budget is rather small, so lenses like the rf 15-35 f/2.8 for example are out of my budget for now, and as often as I need to go wider than 24mm, just not worth the money, though I understand there is more flexibility with the zoom, and some may prefer it. Happy New Year. Ted
Thanks for sharing your honest opinion on this lens 👍
You’re Welcome. Thanks for your comment.

The RF 24-105 F4 is a good general purpose lens. Not having to make a lens change is always a good thing. Thanks for your comment.

Thanks for your comment. The RF 24-105 is a good lens. I wouldn't say that it is as sharp as my RF 70-200 F2.8 but it was close..

Thanks for the comment. I have never used the EF version but I'm sure that it does a good job in almost every situation.

Thanks Ted.

Thanks for your comment Ted. Happy new year to you too. I have the RF 16 as well. It works great when you need to go wider than 24.
Thenks... helpful.
Glad I could help. Thanks for the comment.
Shoot at F 7.1 or F8. Less defraction than F11.
I will give that a try. Look for it in future videos. Thanks for the comment.
I pretty much agree with you, its not a very sexy lens, but it's a workhorse.
Thanks for the comment. The RF 24-105 F4 is very versatile. Great for everyday and great for travel.
