Replaced mine today and used your video as a guide, made this much less intimidating that I thought it would be. Thanks man!
Did the maintenance of the car do fine ?
"Its a Boy!" Lol classic line.....just started working on my 2012 Fiesta, your video is very helpful
Hello! Thank you for this video. I had to replace mine this past week and this video got me through it.
my skill level: I had 8 years of maintenance at a concrete packaging facility but no real prior knowledge about automobile engines. But I do have a general idea on how to replace mechanical things.
I have a 2015 Ford Fiesta titanium HB.
Again thanks for this video! I hope it helps more folks.
Thank you for taking the time to make and publish this video. I need to do this on my wife's Fiesta soon and I'm not looking forward to it but your video will make it a lot easier because I was completely clueless before watching it.
Thanks Bud, you saved me from having to drop the cradle
I've had a clogged cat for a very long time had a new manifold sitting in my garage since July but read all over the place you "have to remove the half shaft" the fact you did this with out doing that makes want to do this this weekend.. Thanks for your super instructional video... Also for the manifold bolts it's a 3 stage tightening first stage is 177 in-lbs second is 30 ft-lbs and third and final stage is 41 ft-lbs but in the pattern you explained... For those reading this for reference that first stage is INCH pounds not FOOT the last two stages are FOOT pounds
Also update on this i finished installing the new manifold go slow and don't round off bolts like I did after I got the bolts taken care of from manifold out and new one in about 3hours shifting the engine forward enough i got the manifold out in maybe 3 minutes flat
Excellent tutorial!! Made my life so much easier. Install went smooth. Ty
🔥❤️🔥 Bro thank you so much for making this video. This helped me so friggin much. ❤️🔥🔥
I started mine tonight I'll continue tomorrow 😀
I should be able to finish removing and installing it tomorrow 🤪
The straps didn’t give me enough space so what I did was I got a small jack and I put it sideway onto the frame of the car and then jacked it up to push the engine rather than pull, this puts let’s stress on the hood latch. I still had the straps on the hood latch just as a safety back up but the jack really was what made it easy
I’m gonna try this. I can only move my engine 1/2” forward. I’m so close. 😞😞😞
Nice video dude,I have the mk3 focus 1.6 vct with leaking flexis on the most complicated and expensive twin cat exhaust maifold system,Thanks ford.It looks like a very similar operation to your fiesta so it gives me some idea.I must admit undoing the 4 lambda sensors and the rusty exhaust bolts scare me the most,Thanks for your efforts
Ngl the ratchet strap method looks perfect. Gonna do it tmro.
I literally just took mine off. I used the ratchet on a tree instead
very nice video.
For the two bottom bolts that connect to the exhaust system, if you jack it up from one side, (or lift) and use a long breaker bar and 6 point socket they usually come right off. Do this before you undo the manifold bolts. Impact doesn't always work as well without damage in my experience.
Bro thankyou you so much you just saved me 1 k that I don't have
Thanks brother! Just finished and your video was a huge help 🤟🏽
I just did this job and it was very helpfull especially the torque spec 25ft ibs on the nuts and the fact that it smokes a little bit for awhile cuz like you said the second I turned it on I was like holy shit it’s on fire lol 😂
😂
Awesome! Saved me a bunch of time.
Wow, I'm really impressed with this video!!!
If you remove the 2 rear most bolts and remove the rear support arms of the front subframe you can also pull it through the back where it hooks up to the exhaust
That seems a lot easier
Just want to make sure are you referring to the STS fiesta or the regular unit?
Is that when you have the car on a hoist with lots of room underneath?
Also a bit confused by "remove the rear support arms of the front subframe" are you talking about the big I am under my 2012 fiesta and it's quite a big piece to remove ...
Is the support arm you're referring to the "Lower cover - bracket - catalytic converter mounting - FORD OE 1845059"
Great video man. I'm subin to you channel
Thank you so much for this video.
Well I disagree to lift the engine by the oil carter because in my case ot cracked and it was a mess of oil. But you can place a wood plank between.
Thats a really good video man!! I'm about to do this same thing.
How did it go? Is there enough room to pull it from the bottom?
Thank you very much,
It was help me.
Thanks for sharing
Ok 👌 ima give it a try! Seems do-able
I’m doing this on my 2016 Fiesta this weekend. The person I bought it from told me the check engine light was on, I paid $3000 under book. Turns out it had a failed purge solenoid they drove on for a long time. Ended up running the engine super lean as a result and now the cat converter is destroyed.
That's awesome you got such a good deal and figured out how to make it work. I'd think the 2016 is similar as far as cat removal, but I'm not totally sure about that one. Let me know how it goes!
hi mste did you have any bad smell rotten eggs smell to get the cst hsnged?
Thank you for good info, can I ask rear gasket bolt size??
How did you put the gasket on does it need glue?
The 3rd party dealership I bought my car from is saying it's going to cost $1900 for the catalytic converter and $700 labor, a total of $2600 out of pocket for my 2019 Ford Fiesta SE Hatchback, that I just bought from them and been having the damn noise day one (have taken it back 3 times now, same noise). They told me to take it to a Ford dealership as they have an 80,000 mile 8 year warranty on the catalytic converter. Mine has a lil' over 66,000 miles. Taking it to the Ford dealership tomorrow. Already confirmed the warranty on the catalytic converter is true before taking it up there. I've replaced many catalytic converters in my life and none of them were $1900, $200 max. I am shocked that is what they are stating the catalytic converter on this car costs. Simple EBay Motors search shows they are only $98. What kind of mark up are they trying to pull? If Ford comes back stating it's not covered, I'm doing this myself. $1900!!!??? Dude.
Were you able to get it taken care of for free under warranty?
No, 3rd party dealership was completely wrong. It's the clutch that have plagued Fiestas since 2011. Ford had a extended warranty on the clutches but only covered them up until 2015. Mine is a 2019. From my research they didn't change a thing about the clutch, so God only knows why they don't cover them past 2015. Fortunately though the extended warranty my lender forced me to buy is 100% covering the replacement. $3400.🤦
My cat. is bad on my 2016 fiesta. I'm hoping the dealership gets back to me.
Note: next time include the gaskets you used, I have the manifold one but In not sure which gasket to use to connect to the flex pipe to the muffler, the ones im seeing look too thin.
gor a mk5 fiesta bur when i drive it has rotten eggs odour google searched it and says cat co bc erter
do you have to rove the engine forward to get to the manifold or is there any easier way?
respect
Hi sir, may i know what is catalytic converter inlet and outlet size? i think my cat con is clogged. Looking forward for your reply.
Does it work on a Ford Focus mk2 from 2005 with the 1.6 Zetec engine?
Wenn ich innerhalb von 60 Sekunden schon 30 mal mein Handy drehen muss habe ich keinen Spaß mehr zu gucken😏
Can you put 2012 plate cat converter on a 59 plate fiesta
where would you put the jack when you go under the engine ?
Hi Alex, I have a 2013 Ford Fiesta S, 5 speed with 77,000 miles. I drove it from CA to GA approx. 3 years ago. The Engine Malfunction light came on at that point, but went off and has been coming on periodically (mostly at startup). I would turn the car off and then back on and it would stay off until the next time (could be weeks or months before it came back on). Haven't had it checked yet (extreme procrastinator). Did the catalytic converter overheat on the drive out here? And then a month ago, I was driving and ran over a street sign which punctured my tail pipe. I didn't see any over damage, but I started smelling exhaust fumes inside the cabin. I patched the hole in the tail pipe with some liquid steel, but I still smell fumes in the cabin. What are your thoughts? Thank You
I’m having a similar problem. I have a 13 fiesta s automatic. I got an oil change at Walmart and they overfilled the oil. They “fixed” it, but ever since then my wrench light is coming on. Which is a powertrain malfunction indicator. It’s happened 3 times since. It comes on then goes off pretty quickly when I’m not noticing. Wondering if it’s my cat after talking to a mechanic buddy of mine.
Do u have to use any sealant to put the manifold back in?
It should have new gaskets
I've read that removing the catalytic will actually help HP and doesn't negatively affect the engine in any way is this true?
There is some truth to that statement, but you would have to get an aftermarket manifold that doesn't combine the catalytic converter. And in order to pass inspection (depending on where you live), you'd have to modify the ECU or trick the o2 sensors to ignore the lack of a cat. Also, you're polluting. Not worth it in my opinion, but to each their own.
I would be very very careful. A buddy of mine had a car with a cat in the exhaust near the tailpipe and it got plugged. He drilled it out so it was an empty tube. The engine was designed to operate with a certain amount of back pressure and without the cat there was none so he burned out his exhaust valves among other things.
Was yours hesitating before u replaced the converter? Thats the issue with mine currently.
No, just the P0420 code. You might want to take your car to a shop to diagnose.
I want the number of this peace at ford focus 2012 please to order it
I tried doing this to my 2015 exhaust bolts wont move without stripping
Sometimes the only option is to cut them. Exhaust bolds are easy to replace though.
There was no way it could come out the bottom of the car?
What were the symptoms ur fiesta was giving you? I have a 2015 4cyl 1.6 L that has a rough idle and chokes when the ac is turned on.
Danny Boi my only symptom was the code P0420 that calls out a bad catalytic converter. I replaced both o2 sensors and still got the code, so figured it had to be the cat. The code hasn’t came back on since. Your situation doesn’t sounds catalytic converter related. I would start by cleaning your throttle body and see if that helps.
Did you ever find a solution to this? Mine does the same 🙃
@@alexandrasosin yeah it was my ac compressor that would kill the engine when turned on
@@dfuqhesay2700mines doing that. What did you do, replace the condenser?
Go out there and fix ya fu#%^ car 😂😂😂👍👍👍
Its a boy 😂😂😂👍👍
My fuqqing motor mount only moves 1/2” forward. 🤦🏻♂️
I always think these engines are the wrong way around.
🤣🤣
