Omg you outdid yourself with this video so glad to see you back Jo, this is truly the best analysis on CTRL and SZA’s overall artistry for me what I loved about CTRL is basically everything identical you said in this video, the overall lyricism being so poetic, and relatable the feeling of not having control over everything in the circumstances of your life, from relationships to the development of your sexuality to your economic status to your mental health, I definitely relate to this as it was being released a full year after graduating in high school and life just being hell but in retrospect I would never fix or redo anything in that time it made me who I am I can say CTRL by SZA played a part in that it was a true cultural reset seeing her influence across music within 5 years after it’s release is insane
I couldn’t agree more! This album was a complete reset and changed the industry in a lot of ways. And I do feel a sense of community/understanding with other people who also felt just as moved by it.
