    I like John, not only because he is an absolutely phenomenal player, but because he strikes me as a very nice and genuine person. He could quite possibly be the nicest and most normal rock star/famous person I have ever seen or met. He seems very, very grounded. Is always polite and attentive with the person interviewing him. So often, we see interviews with musicians who make it very clear and obvious that they don't give 2 craps about the fact that they are being interviewed.

      You are so right on all that Michael. I got to meet John after his show at the Tacoma Guitar Festival on April 21, 2018. He met with every fan afterwards....I heard he stayed until there were no fans left waiting. I also paid attention to how he interacted with all the fans prior to me. He really is attentive. He is in the moment with you. It was not just a hi/bye type of thing. He was interested in people. My daughter went before me...and he asked what she had in her bag (merch stuff/guitar festival free items etc), and she pulled some things out to show him...he truly was interested in what people gathered while there, and you could see it wasn't just a passing question. He was great with so many. With me (did not expect this from John 5..lol)...he started the convo, and commented that he really liked my hair (I still pretty much look like a product of the 80's)..and kept talking about it for a bit. You could tell he was just a super honest guy...that enjoys convo. He met us fans as ''people'' first.....not just as only fans. I then of course discussed his great show, and his gift of playing. There was not one bit of ''I am a star'' ego in that man. I told him he inspired me more to want to learn to play guitar...and probably many others after that show. He was so humble. In interviews, and even this video, you can tell he is just a nice human being.

    It's no wonder, after perusing the comments, that this man has so many responses as to his humble ness. No matter what video you see him in, he is a complete gentleman towards whomever he's with. He's one of the world's best at what he does no doubt!! And a Michigander to boot.

    I have played for over 50 years. This guy is the real deal. Has a great understanding of scales, and how to get the most out of his licks. His versatility impresses me more than anything. I love pickers who love just playing, regardless of style. So damn versatile. Love it!

    I am an old school classic rock fan... I saw Rob Zombie in Corpus Christi Texas... I thought John 5 was gonna be just another heavy metal shredder... He did about a 15 minute solo that comprised of every sound you could imagine, and then some... I was amazed.... I would swear his background is Bluegrass, or for a minute, Southern Rock... When he broke up his custom Tele, I just about died.... Just an amazing player...

    • @brianwarner308
      @brianwarner308 6 лет назад +1

      ya i say that 15 minute solo too it was AWESOME!! and when Zombie gets back on stage he is standing up on a huge podium and John 5 busts into "School's Out" and confetti goes everywhere……one of the coolest things i've seen at a show!!!

    • @philippinefandango2859
      @philippinefandango2859 6 лет назад

      Yeh Brian... When I saw them, Alice Cooper was the opener... There was about a 3 story metal dragon in the backdrop. When that thing lit up, the rodeo was on. When J5 was doing the solo, I thought a riot was happening, but it was Rob walking through the crowd... It really opened my eyes to a different genre of music... Cheers...

      You aren't far off actually, john talks alot about how one of his big influences growing up was country music and the tv show hee haw and he would watch them play a banjo on the show and that really influence his love of the guitar.

    I just started to tune into his videos.. his appreciation for the guitar and just his humble personality makes him very appealing..
    One of his videos he stated the different types of music he had an appreciation for and finally just said you know I just like music..
    That's what I've been saying for years to people that always are thumbs down to different genres other than Rock..
    And tips and advice I will be tuning in for..
    Thanks John 5!!

    2:40 Paul Gilbert does something similar with a short scale guitar with just three strings tuned to three octaves of E so he can do some stretches that would be impossible on a regular guitar

    1:02 Things like this stand out to people who know theory, but it's nothing serious. The E chord does not have an A flat, unless you think a D chord has a G flat, and spell the E major scale accordingly: F flat, G flat, G sharp, B double flat, C flat, C sharp, and a C sharp double sharp. There's some usable knowledge in John's world. You can thank me later.

      G Yea that happens to my Les Paul if I stand near the amp a certain way. I watched video of Cannibal Corpse recording an album(I think "Kill" but I'm not sure) but they had a square taped off because if the guitar player played the guitar anywhere else but that taped off square,it would hiss like mad.
