    1. Sort out accommodation (rental market is competitive)
    2. Figure out how you will get around (save for a bike)
    3. Consider the language difference( you should be okay with English or German)
    4. Have enough money to cover two months of living expenses as pay is monthly and at the end of the month
    5. Have the right clothes for Dutch weather. It gets cold in winter and rains a lot.
    6. Account for the cost of taking Dutch classes. Beginner classes are usually the most expensive and can be up to 1000 Euros.
    7. Learn to swim. It's compulsory for children in the Netherlands to learn to swim so it's awkward for an adult who doesn't know how to swim.

    • @dicknr1
      @dicknr1 Год назад +1

      @@josphineogugua thats the scam you got trapped into.
      Adult lessons can be taken in most of the country for often less cost. Problem is you choose to live in the few provinces that are crowded with tourism. So now you pay tourism prices for every utility. from housing to swimming pools. you should know how that works.
      If companies rent a expensive big city building with lots of tourism it means their cost of location is high, they will count that into their prices for you.
      House same issue, almost all things even food, you have a store in a big city so the store cost more rent, so you pay more. It applies to everything. I call it the ignorant-immigrant illusion.
      When people come here they often choose the worst locations based on popular destinations. While in reality this is a highly developed european nation. So everything here is nationwide implemented. smaller communities have it reduced but still in place. And with that comes lower cost of living and higher quality of living. more money to spend or less hours to work same cost of living.
      But when you choose to live in Scam-province utopia Holland provinces or utrecht then you do that harm to yourself. thus is why i left my province and city Haarlem for a reasonable city Lelystad. for the reason its central, direct connection to north holland and utrecht and zwolle and a few more roads, cost of living is nearly 500 euro cheaper for me by myself. No way in hell im going back unless they stop the inflation for those provinces. Right now its stupid to promote North Holland, South Holland or Utecht (province).

      Hi Chistopher. Yes there are international schools that teach in English. In that case you will pay have to pay tuition fees.
      A few public schools although teach mainly Dutch, they also introduce English as a second language, earlier on in the child’s education, I’m not sure when though. And this option is not available in all public schools.
      So an international school may be the best option if you want your kids to be taught in English.

    • @dicknr1
      @dicknr1 Год назад

      in the link description. But me as a local disagree with those links.
      A few of them are expat related which basically tells me nope scam prices like they do in big cities, dont trust that ever. They 100% take advantage of expats. Housing here is equal system for everyone, so one specialized for expats rings alarm bells.
      I dont trust these. Some like kamernet are useful but thats only for renting temporary rooms. Most of these are absolutely useless. So I can copy them for you but youtube will remove it. If you rather have my advise instead I can give you actual corporations that rent per city. because these only address specifically foreigners (so a scam she trusts i dont), one for rooms, but rooms aint housing, and one for living in the most expensive province of the nation. I came from Haarlem so I know, She promoting my province but I am saying NOPE dont do it, find another province more to the east not utrecht, not north holland, not south holland. avoid those, you pay insanity for absolutely no reason.
      Rent more in east. lets say Zwolle, rent is like 600-700 for home 100+ m2 size. train to Amsterdam would be about a hour.
      Home in amsterdam 40m2 = 700 euro easily. Not worth it. 100m2 in amsterdam would cost you over 2000 euro.
      Cost of train 1 year travel cost about 1200 euro for a full year. you easily can afford that with zwolle and still save money and have a decent size home than living in amsterdam or anywhere near that province.
      I currently Live in lelystad, cost is about same as zwolle, bit closer to Amsterdam but not blown up cost of living compared to housing in my own province North holland.
      Let me know i will help ya.

    • @dicknr1
      @dicknr1 Год назад

      Freelancing happens here too. I think you probably mean what we call ZZP here. Zelfstandig zonder personeel. Self employed.
      Its risky but if your work is required you can.
      Taxes are on the net.
      Belastingschijf Belastbaar inkomen uit werk en woning Tarief
      1 tot € 69.399 37,07%
      2 vanaf € 69.399 49,50%
      Tax bracket 1 and 2, up to 69.399k is taxed 37,07%. After that is taxed 49.50%.
      If you have your own company you can do tax returns on your purchages. Such as my father who is self employed bought himself for 7k new computer equipment for his work and stuff. he could get 21% tax back on those since he was registered as ZZP, basically a company without personel, so self employed.
      So if you earn money through ways it depends on what ways but you can find that online. Normal work taxes are shown above. And its quite hard to hit 69k income thats high, so expect you pay if you work 37% thats it, it gonna take a while before 37% turns into 49.50%, you need to hit 70k to have that tax. And dont think it means your entire income.
      if it says 69.399 and up it means from that moment any above gets the 49.50%, but the amount below is still taxed 37% if im correct.

    99% of the cost issues can be fixed by NOT MOVING into holland. I moved from Haarlem to Lelystad for the very reason of that NOTHING is affordable. All companies pay massive prices for being on those provinces with those economy, you pay for that.
    By not moving into the 4 most costly provinces:
    Noord, Zuid holland, Utrecht and Zeeland, you avoid the extreme cost. More cental-east to north-east is cheap, more west-central is expensive. Absolutely everything you pay for in amsterdam is a total scam.
    Let me give you a example;
    120-140m2 housing in lets say Emmen is about 550-700 euro
    80-120m2 housing in Lelystad where I am at now is about 550-700
    Now lets use 3 examples of amsterdam to show you the insanity in scale:
    for 550-700 euro you get about 40m2 in amsterdam.
    to get 80-120m2 cost easily 1500-2500 in amsterdam.
    140m2 would cost over 3000 euro in amsterdam.
    Living in Amsterdam is a scam, nobody in this country would suggest to live close to Utrecht, Amsterdam or Rotterdam. Those places and its surroundings are insane and should be avoided at all cost. Problem is:
    Locals of such cities ALWAYS promote their bad cities. And foreigners only visit those cities to choose to live. Which is the worst decision you can make in this country. Sadly many of you find out once you move to lets say Zwolle that the cost of housing halfs without compromising size. Sad isnt it? So my advise stop advertising North holland. Its been overly advertised to the point where it doesnt represent anything at all it was before. But you get ripped off so bad, while the wait list is insanity too.
    My advise, move the f out of where you at, pick something bit away from where you at, travel times may increase a bit for work, but half rent cost would easily make up for that wouldnt it?
