- In this video we hit up Edwardson's trail near the community of Jack Pine. This section of trail has been battered by landslides from a huge downpour in late September 2024. We were attempting to ride into a trail that takes you to the back side of jack pine lake. Just then, were stopped dead in our tracks when Kylar's rig had it's big crunch.
My rig escaped with only a mere flat wound....If you've been following this channel, you know I have the best luck with keeping airs and liquids contained.
Next episode we will make it to the trail we were trying to get into, stay tuned!
Thanks for stopping in!
love your videos, tough break man. Love seeing your 'yotas. One day we will need to go do a run together.
Totally man, I'm always down to go for a rip!
Captain Obvious here... build a ramp for the back tires to climb or just use the winch.. 😜
I think he did what he did because I didn't winch on my way thru haha.
Wontons.......hahahha
Are you saying 1 tons or wantons right meow
So what happened to it? I really like the old yodas but every damn video of these good looking built yodas going offroad they break something kinda puts me off I thought they were super solid vehicles, not like he went light on it either but I think it should have managed.
Those differentials and axles must be slim, I don't think they were really the strong suit of the build.
We didn't know what happened until today, and it's confirmed, the ring and pinion gave out. Locker still in tact. He's running a 3.4L V6 out of a Tacoma with all 4cyl running gear. So its a touch over engine under axle. Honestly it has taken a beating over the years. Last Sunday, it finally said enough. He's going to rebuild. I'll share some photos of the carnage on my community page if you're interested.
I wouldn't loose faith in these 80's Toyota's. They're legendary for a reason :)
@@NektarVision I saw one with the exact same problem, except it was flooded with water, had no differential fluid and had broken one of the pinion gears snapped off.
Seems to be a problem with these old toyotas.
He said he should have got some breather replaced as well so the water wouldn't have got in.
Maybe there's some aftermarket differential gears that can actually take a beating out there.
I'm running Yukon Gears and lockers w/ Timkin bearings. Air lines tapped into the stock breathers that lead into my cab. The Yukon aftermarket stuff seem to take a beating like the OEM Toyota gears/carrier. Yukon is just more $$. Kylar was running TG rin and pinion. TG sucks.
I've never had a problem for over a decade. Mind you, I change the oil at least twice a year. Every time you go into deep mud/water I check the oil.
