During her first session in The Current's studio, Dacus says she knows her kind of success is rare. She wrote off a music career years ago, believing it was impossible. But here she has one anyway. While she talks, her voice sounds a little unsure about what she did to belong here, but behind all that, it evinces a strong mind.

Well, I'm here on this song at 60+ years old. My 22 year old Vassar grad daughter asked me to learn Lucy's "Christine" for our annual Thanksgiving sing-along. I became obsessed. This is such a wonderful rabbit-hole. Honestly, the best song-writing I've heard in 20 years. Thank you Lucy.

GOD this song!!!! and her voice!!! i must’ve listened to this 100 times or more, i’m so deeply in love with this song and always brings tears to my eyes for some reason. it honestly saddens me how underrated she is!!
